Lol the civil war wasnt based on freeing slaves. Most confederates were poor and not rich. only rich farm owners had slaves. So why did those poor farmers fight. They fought for thier rights they thought thier rights were being taken away. Now the alot of northerns didnt fight to free slaves they fought becuase they were either drafted into war or to persurve the union. Many northerners actually jumped african americans becuase they blamed them for the war.
The clip didn't even mentioned why it happened and you still managed to get butthurt.

The war was based mostly on the fact that some Northern intellectuals and politicians possessed souls and did not want the horror of slavery to be extended to the western territories, while the Southern plantation owners thought that they had some god given right to expand their way of life based on human misery throughout the new territories. Lincoln was going to leave the slaveholding states alone if they just kept slavery to where it was already established - he initially just wanted the union to survive- but the plantation owners didn't want that at all. There was too much additional money to be made doing business in the new territories with practically no costs for labor at all except for the brutal thug overseers they had to keep on the payroll to keep their victims in lifelong servitude. So the South started the war to keep up westward expansion of slavery. No one can argue that the people of the South weren't fighting for their way of life and for their rights, but the problem is their so called rights and way of life were based on the theft of human beings' existences utilizing the monstrous, soulless institution of slavery.
The American civil war was mostly about economics and money. The issue of slavery was mostly an pretense for the war. Though, I think that Lincoln actually cared.

The truth of fact is history has it right but due to opinion from ignorance driven by biased facts from a geographical stand point. For example, a northern raised U.S citizen would be raised with the the point of view favoring northeners and a southern raised U.S citizen vice versa. Regardless, knowledge has no biased opinion and is taught equally nationally. Myself having a philosophical and open minded view point would say that north and south both had wrong doing but in different aspects. North had many corrupt individual families that where against the union agenda whereas the south had many individuals opposed to the confederacy. That being said documentation and personal accounts sculpt the teachings of that subject with better accuracy due to quite frankly not being that far in our history's timeline, rather than other historical events that date even further back.
