i´m still using one ,amongst others also from pioneer, it came out in 1994 ,it´s in the back the first two numbers of the serisl number ,somewhere in the web there´s a wrong release date of the reference series which made the mkI being released as the same time as the MKII ,it makes no sense and i also remenber when i bought them, the A-717mkII is a very good amplifier ,the A-91D is almost the same in sound quality which i also bought one to use the digital inputs and outputs so i could have one system with everything conected to one amplifier, only the speakers are cerwin-vega they cost me each what today is 1.000€ this in 94, january not the regular series but one with lots of veneer, and happy with them ,also have the top end system from the 76 catalog with a PD-7300 in silver, in 2015 the laser cost me without assembly what today is 350€

The very last of the best that pioneer made in my opinion , they also made a nice DAT recorder and DCC recorder in the elite series range.
