  • Talking about Tsukumizu's Manga, Girl's Last Tour of Shouo Shuumatsu Ryouku. This manga is set in an apocalypse centers on two girls, their survival and goal to reach the top of the society. This is a bit of my take on the series. Take this as a Very big Manga recommendation. I recommend this manga to anyone.

There are some things to be imagined. The last scene are them in some kind of wheat field, some people say the rock they lean to are teleport machine. Remember the rockets they saw and the trajectory; one stop somewhere and the latest one keep going on without end. Humanity could be in that ship, and the one connecting earth and the ship are the rocks that sits on the very top level. Others say they just dead, and the last image is just some kind of heaven. Though i very much agree that the ending was great since the whole story itself is about existencial crisis and life choices and ethics and stuff so its like the ending is the same with life. What actually happened is what us choose to happen.

    *Spoilers of the manga*
I remember watching the last episode of the anime, then searching the manga to continue the story (which there is not a lot left after the anime tbh, they could finish the whole story in an ova or something), the AI that wanted to die was shocking to me, but the one thing that make my heart shrink and being tear appart was this near the end chapter where they are climbing those stairs in pitch black darkness: They lost their vehicle, they had no food nor water, they knew they wont last long, they didn't know if those stairs reached anywhere, or if it did, there was anything there waiting for them, and they only keep climbing because they were handholding to not loose eachother in the dark and remembering their time together...
Man that chapter hit super hard...

And don´t forget...one of the girls was afraid of darkness and the other was afraid of height and together they climbed day by day up the stairs in absolutely darkness, because they had each other! And deep inside they knew that nothing was waiting für them at the upper level. They had to finish their destiny so they did what was to do!So the poem was engraved into the table! Two small crosses would vanish on a pale road!

As dark as it gets in times, I find that there's just something awfully nice in Girl's Last Tour. Even after everything has ended, and nothing can really be some to start over, good and nice things cam still happen. Yuri and Chito can still find things to be joyous about, and even if that fails, they still got eachother. I try to reflect that same way of thinking to my own life, especially during more depressive episodes. As dark as it seems, good things can and will still happen and there are still people you can hold on. Sometimes, you just have to become friends with despair.

Girls' Last Tour was such a surreal experience. Calming and philosophical pondering why and how we should live. This is one of my hidden gems.
I'm just gonna briefly quote tkmiz that rly resonate with me:
"Where there are people like Ishii and Kanazawa who live with purpose, there will always be those like Chito and Yuri who travel aimlessly, free and easy. Which way of living is true happiness, and is it correct? They are characters that have to some extent been created to ask these questions."

On the topic of how the manga talks about reasons to live for - at one point it's shown how one of Chito's books is Schopenhauer's The World as Will and Representation - the philosopher Schopenhauer talked about how Will doesn't depend on reason/knowledge but actually is a force on itself that makes reason find an object to strive for. Coincidentally going to the top layer is something Chito and Yuuri do sort of as an excuse to give their journey an overall goal, yet their journey does not depend on this goal for meaning. Tkmiz is exceptionally well read and is the mangaka that I've seen work with subtlety the best, something other authors cannot dream of, where everything is overt even if their series are actually deep. This is my favorite manga, I found it extremely touching and relatable. Thanks for making a video on it! The anime adaptation was also extremely good, I loved the soundtrack. I hope at some point they manage to animate the rest of the story but sadly there's not enough content for one season I believe... Take care and I hope you're all getting along with hopelessness.

It sometimes surprises me how much deeper moral issues(questions?) draw me to certain anime/manga. One might think that people only consume anime/manga because of flashy action, or over-the-top drama (though I do like that, too). But, the ones that stick in my mind are ones like these that are a quieter kind of weirdness from anime or manga.

If you're here and you haven't finished the Manga, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you finish it.
In the anime, they added bits and pieces to tease you to continue the story by reading the manga.
They also ended it on a good note for the TV, BUT remember it's literally on the title that it's their "LAST TOUR".
The ending sequence, Tsukumizu herself did the key animation on it. (Also one of the scenes there are literally from the last chapter of the manga.)
The Ending song "More One Night" could also mean phonetically "Mou wan nai" or "Mou Owaranai" means "It's still not done", yet.
"Cures Depression with Depressive things and still feel Peaceful about it."
Everything has an end and that's okay.
TKMIZ has a new manga! "Shimeji Simulation"
This one has a different tone but you'll feel the Tsukumizu thing. I love how tkmiz writes.

Reading this on kissmanga, I made friends who were reading around the same pace. One of them introduced me to have a nice life, an album by deathconciousness. I ended up reading the last few chapters to there is no food, and a quick one before the eternal worm devours Connecticut. It took me months to recover from it, but i remember the experience very fondly.

You know, i first encountered this show in a generic "streaming" site. I was strolling through new updated anime episode. Then I saw the wallpaper, so mesmerising and very lonely. I clicked on the episode not knowing anything about the show, not reading the synopsis, and not reading comment. Just clicked the play button and the main theme just hit you to the face. I didn't regret wasting 25 min. A week and waiting 2 months and a week for the show. Sorry for the rambling. The wallpaper pic just resonates(if you can call it that) to me, and it is as expected of what is in the story. I still remember the feeling when it struck me.

But after watching this anime i read the remaining chapters of the manga and while reading the last 2 chapters, i was listening the ost "Hazumu Kokoro" from the anime.... after reading the last chapter i went to the bathroom to cry, the ending hit me really hard.

I've always seen these characters but always assumed it was another moe story. This story is much deeper and more philosophical than I ever imagined. I think the anime leans in a bit more on the Moe angle, but basically everything in the series is constructed around philosophical questions, with Yuuri generally being care free and Chito being concerned about the answers. The art also gets gorgeous. I hope you like it!

I discovered Tsukumizu with a fan piece he wrote for one of my favorite franchise its called "Flan wants to die". Lets say it had a very unique atmosphere. So when I heard an anime was made out of one of his original work, which I didnt know he did, I sure as hell watched it, loved it and then went to the source. It was quite a roller coaster even though the setting is always so eerily relaxed. I dont think any other work compares....Hmmm maybe Blame! but that one still has a different vibe most of the time.

That anime was the single most aesthetic piece of dystopian art I've ever seen. Never been a huge fan of the genre/trope ('it's the future and we're all fcked and the end is inevitable'), but the story was just so heart-warming, adorable and simple, but structured all within a cold, cruel and coplicated world that is just about to end.
I was blown away completely, and am still wondering why this wasn't a lot more popular.

before that i wasn't really convinced by the concept of stories that are about the journey not the destination, the ending being for me a whole point or more when rating a show from 1 to 10. But not being told beforehand about the end, and actually being satisfied with an "empty" ending, it certainly has changed how i experience a show now, be it the journey or the destination.

It basically was about this military and civilian site in Australia that was coming to terms with the fact that there had been a nuclear event. The government was explaining to people how it would affect them and how to prepare for their end. Passing out cyanide capsules to families. It had the guy from psycho when he was very young, trying to get his wife to accept what was happening. It was extremely sad and Melancholy but I'm glad I watched it and it reminded me a lot of this.
