    What is Sleep Hygiene?
    Sleep hygiene is all about creating a sleep routine training the Bodies and Brains to signal WHEN to fall asleep, and WHEN to wake up.
    Sometimes when we suffer from lack of sleeping our brain health depletes this also puts us at risk to develop certain mental illnesses such as;
    Depression and Anxiety, to name a few. Normally if someone suffers from anxiety and depression they may also suffer from insomnia.
    But sometimes we can also be the ones contributing to the success of our sleep disturbances.
    Our bad habits and things we continue to do on a daily basis also affects our sleep.
    So, here’s the game plan for top-notch sleep hygiene.
    1. Create a Sleep Schedule: Fall asleep and wake up at the same time every day. No matter if it's on your days off from work, or your free weekends!
    Our bodies and our amazing brain love this type of predictability & discipline.
    2. Follow A Consistent Pre-Sleep Ritual: Always Spend a couple hours before bedtime doing things such as listening to relaxing music, reading or
    3. Sleep-Ready Bedroom: Keep your room cool, dark, and quiet. It should be a sleep sanctuary, not a party zone.
    4. Mindful Eating and Drinking: Cut out the late-night munchies and caffeine. Your body can’t snooze if it’s busy digesting or buzzing.
    5. Screen Time-Out: Power down all gadgets at least an hour before bed. Our brain needs to escape from all that blue light to associate the dark or peace and quiet with bedtime.
    6. Comfort is Key: Investing in a comfortable mattress and sturdy pillows. The more comfortable you are, your brain will begin to take the hint and start snoozing.
    7. Dim the Lights: Lower the brightness on your phone, television and other devices. Like the sun, the presence of light can wake up your already exhausted mind.
    8. Avoid Stressful or Hight concentration Activities: Skip any tasks that tell your brain to be alert, such as paying bills or planning your day, worrying, arguing, etc.
    9. Sleeping on your left side promotes the best blood circulation while you are asleep, and this also prevents you from waking up feeling numb from lack of blood and less aches and pains from bad sleep positions.
    And remember, skimping on your sleep can lead to mental health issues, so make it a priority to become more in tune with your body.
    Your autonomic nervous system, which controls things like breathing, heartbeat, digestion, and yes, sleep, needs those Z’s to keep everything running smoothly.
    So, stick to your sleep hygiene routine, and you’ll be training your brain and body for the best sleep ever. Nighty-night!
