    I’ve been using Koala for a while now but the addition of it becoming auv3 is awesome. The charge is so low it’s no brainer . A terrific update and it lives in your DAW. My DAW is Nanostudio 2 which is a little lacking in audio capabilities so this now is a problem solved.

      I use Audio MIDI Setup to connect my iPad Pro to my iMac and Logic Pro. Having done that I can use AUM and any other iPad music app and record directly into an Audio track in Logic. Conversely, if I have a MIDI track in Logic that I want recorded with an iPad-based music app (I don’t have an M1 Mac) you can use an External Instrument track from Logic to record that. If yo are unfamiliar with these techniques there are plenty of tutorials here in YT that can explain better than I how to achieve…

    i bought it to use it as auv3 and love it, i got all the samplers made for iphone and koala definitely took the whole cake without a doubt,, you the developer truly know what a complete sampler should be, the only things missing
    i wish for lock option to be able to edit every chop all at the same time, for example having the option to edit the volume, attack, release, pitch, or ect of each chop that i made, all at the same time , instead of just having the option of editing one by one which is just a big headache and time consuming trying to get each edit perfect separately ,,,
    also it would be perfect to have instead one pitch button, to have a oct, a semi and a cent pitch buttons 3 buttons for each, having that its great for creation purposes,
    and this request its a MUST HAVE IN A SAMPLER and probably my must needed !!!
    basically a single sample chop shot note key or root key finder basically an option to find out each chop root note or key note please 🙏🏻

    Loving this update, but a few questions. When the headphone icon is selected, I hear the sound coming into koala when loaded as an effect generator. The FX on the Sample page apply to the monitored sound, but not the Perform effects. Is there any way for the AUv3 to bypass needing to play loaded/samples or songs inside koala in order to apply effects to incoming audio? This would then give me a DJ style plugin for live performance using audio from any source in AUM or elsewhere. Also, I don’t understand the different options for sampling, such as “Resample from plug-in”. Is there a need for a manual?

    Quick question, I am not sure what setting I have stuck on the prevents me from recording my full desired sample. I hold down to record, record 10 seconds, I see it and when it comes to playback it plays exaclty half of my recorded sample and then cuts off. When I trim down the recording, again the playback will only play exaclty half of my sample! What do I need to change so that koala is not cutting off half of my recorded sample?
    Also, when I important audio, it splits it all up for me but I want all my imported audio on one sample slot and not all split up.
    Cheers!

  • @tasteapiana
    @tasteapiana Před 3 lety +1

    So, treating Koala as an inserted effect doesn't allow it to be used as a traditional effect, ie passing sounds from upstream into it for processing by Koala (other than sampling, obviously), but allows Koala to access the auxiliary function of the effects channel as a means of side-chaining other effects to Koala? Otherwise, I can't wrap my mind around why I wouldn't just use Koala at input beyond what this opens up for distribution of multiple outs. Basically, this would be, in the analog sphere, the equivalent of placing a sampler on a dedicated aux buss of a mixing desk and then multing out from there to other aux buses? Sorry if I'm saying this wrong but I can't think of why I would want to do that unless this is the only way of integrating Koala horizontally which seems like a hack and leads me to question the underlying architecture of AUV3 itself, er why it can't be multed when acting as an instrument.

    • @A.D.G
      @A.D.G Před 3 lety +1

      Koala FX is already a separate plugin that allows you to route input into the effects.
      This update was for the many people wanting to extend the effects that could be applied (specifically to have them applied to individual pads (8 currently))
      I’m guessing you want to be able to have Koala act as something that can take inputs from outside of Koala’s sampling, process and then route out (in real time), which is something that isn’t possible (to my knowledge) at the moment.

    • @tasteapiana
      @tasteapiana Před 3 lety

      @@A.D.G I don't have a specific use case preference. I am wondering why inserting Koala in an effects slot is even necessary when other instruments (synths for instance) can be put atop the AUM channels and have multiple outs - in fact, that's what effects sends / auxiliaries are (the slots along the left side of AUM's channels are multiple sends). I'm not concerned with or confused about getting anything IN to Koala, only why there would be a need to plug it in as an effect when it is NOT an effect but an instrument. If that is because Koala, by default, only sends a stereo out and it is too difficult to change that so in order to OUT multiple individual pads it needs to be used as an effect, then ok. I would just like verification of that.
      Marek was twice about to touch on this in the video but quickly diverted to other subjects, once at 0:54 and a second time at 4:25. He describes it as ''One other cool feature of Koala AUV3'' when it seems, to me, that that is its ONLY feature (that it allows multiple outs, independent outs for pads) as there is no new functionality to its input. I appreciate that Marek explains the new folder and .koala structures but those really should be addressed somewhere else SEPARATELY not tossed in at opportune times so as to divert from having to explain WHY Koala in an effects slot is necessary or desired. If it was just too difficult to give Koala multiple outs (as an instrument) and the only remaining option was to originate its sends within the architecture of AUM's auxiliary functions (ie effects slots) then he should have just said so instead of pretending that this is some kind of preferable method and not just a hack that he had to make because of the inherent limitations of the AUV3 system and/or Koala's main outs/summing.
      I would pay $3 for this even if that is what really happened (and I really believe it is what happened) but when someone starts speaking in sleight of hand ways I get uneasy because that tells me they have a mousey nature, are worried for no good reason that people don't trust them, which is a sign of someone that might eventually snap under whatever pressure(s) and just disappear someday to crawl under a cover and hide from the big bad world they fear so much, likely no longer taking their meds. It always starts somewhere, the signs are always there but many times, especially in euphoric / fanboy / exciting circumstances like this, they go totally unnoticed until it is too late because everyone wants to assume the best and praise ''THE CREATOR''. I don't like cults, they end badly.

    • @elfaudio
      @elfaudio  Před 3 lety +3

      Hey@@tasteapiana I don't understand the issue - the reason for being able to load koala in as an effect is so that you can get sounds into it - e.g. with your microphone - if you load koala in as an instrument, you can't get sound into it in its AUv3 form. You just can't - Apple don't allow AUv3's direct access to the microphone - the user has to plumb it in.
      I know koala isn't an effect, it's an instrument - but its an instrument that can record from other sources, so the only way it can fit into the DAW plugin convention of instruments vs effects is to put it as an effect. So I give the option to use it as an "instrument" if you don't want to do any sampling (except for file loading), or as an "effect" if you *do*
      I'm 100% definitely not trying to hoodwink anyone here. Koala AUv3 is just koala as a multichannel AUv3, nothing more. Sorry to cram in the thing about the new file formats, but I have to be economical with time when making these videos, and it seemed like a good place to put it, as it sort of needs explaining in order to understand how the AUv3 works.
      Also please rest assured that I'm totally sound of mind, very mentally stable, not requiring meds.

    Give it host capabilities please! So we don’t need AUM or anything third party! It’s a sampler ! On iOS it should be able to sample anything on my iPad Pro internally like garage band can ! Come on brother ! This app shreds the others already ! But with that super power it’s going to go thru the roof for you ! Look what happened with loopy pro . Your interface is much easier to use and way easier on the eyes too( very important and impressive! ) it’s a no brainer for the next update dude 👽

      Loopy Pro is a DAW - that’s how it describes itself, It also costs a lot more than koala. Adding support for auv3 hosting represents many months of work, I just can’t afford it. I would love to do it but there are way too many other things to work on first.

    • @elfaudio
      @elfaudio  Před 2 lety

      Definitely not a no brainer. It’s not something that can be just dropped in with a few lines of code. It’s a massive undertaking. Loopy pro has it because the guy who made it has worked with auv3 hoarding for many years and pretty much wrote the book on it

      @@elfaudio understood . But remember apps like blocks wave etc ( samplers with editing utilities) are in fact a alternative to very expensive hardware. And I think it’s pretty obvious that the ones that are going to make it to the other side and become a standard or go to application will definitely have that super power. (Look what it did for Kymatica ) Or they like “SAMPLER “ another really great sampling app that went the way of the dinosaurs because it relied so heavily on Audi buss ( made by the loopy pro folks you mentioned) which at that time had issues that caused problems for fans of apps for sampling ( I won’t-name names ) I think your sampler is special . And worth the extra effort. But it’s your party brother . Do as you wish and thanks for your honesty peace 👽

    All sampler apps should be able to handle audio units or inter app “without “ a third party host . It’s ridiculous they are not coded for that and only things like loopy pro or GarageBand for example does that . Samplers on iOS should out of the box be designed to sample Anything on the iOS device it occupies. It’s ridiculous to jump around this way . 👽😤
