Ra Star In basketball you have a lot of contact too. Your are just not allowed to hit your opponents hand. But Handball has still more contact.

Handball is very intense and one of the dirtiest sports I know. Played it for 3 years in my youth and had to stop because of an injury but loved every second of it!

Fair play is important and in handball there is more Fairplay than in soccer

Its maybe more intense at its peak points of physical contact and tackles, but as far as continuous sports go (without pause after every play) handball is probably the most intense.
You're not allowed to tackle in Handball. You are allowed to play through opposition players ie play as if they are not there but you can't trip them up on purpose.
You said in minute 10:57 that handball is a game you would play on the school playground with your friends, I think this would be difficult for you, because handball is a difficult game and that's the why it's different instead of soccer. Everybodz can kick a ball into a nett but to throw a ball and play handball well you have to practice a lot.

i think Handball is the second most popular sport in germany (comparable with basketball).
its also very popular in most european countries, with the exception of the UK and Italy.

but there are definitetely more handball-clubs and in general more people playing handball than ice hockey.
of course, it differs from region to region.

I think they showed the bicycle part for supporting each others sports. That happens sometimes. Especially in smaller clubs and events.

you should definitely try out handball yourself. probably it wouldn't be that big of a deal to get in contact with a bigger/professional team because of the connections you already have. even if it would be there are (i think) some players in your community who play handball and would invite you for practice to their team (including me 😉)
Hey Connor, a little correction for you. Not Stuttgart won the game because they didn't play. In this game Rhein Neckar Löwen (Mannheim) played against THW Kiel. The winner team were the Rhein Neckar Löwen. And they didn't win because of one goal but with 2.

I'm a german handball goalkeeper and in my opinion handball is intense and yes the penalty is close to the keeper , but u can deal with it if u have good reactions and analyse the player. Nice video i enjoyed your reaction :p

Handball is more intense then soccer because of few issues. First one in defense you are allowed to do things for which u will recive a red card in soccer. Second point ist that there is sth like a shotclock so no relax by passing the ball in your lines and u have to pass the midline in a few seconds after u get the Ball from the opponent. This causes a lot of powerplay and affort to score and that is why this game is so fast and much more interesting to watch.
As I metioned earlier, if you wanna see intense sports...come to another Adler Mannheim (ice)hockey game. Especially against Eisbären Berlin (big rivalry ) or vs. Schwenninger Wild Wings (Baden Derby)...As Mannheim is located about halfway between Stuttgart and Frankfurt bring Silas too...
i guess handball is more intense. in handball you drop onto hard ground (not on gras), you have no armor except for teeth and balls and yeah you can do nearly everything in the defense.

The modern Team-Handball has its history in Denmark and in Germany. It was in Germany first invented for Girls and Women. In October 29th 1917, Max Heiser (1879-1921) in Berlin set the first Rules for the ladies. He changed the name of this team-sport from goalball to handball. 2 Years later Carl Schelenz (1890-1956), also in Berlin developed ith further to make it more interesting for boys and men. --- so ther you go with the history :-)

I had to stop playing handball after my 5. shoulder dislocation. I received a surgery in which my humerus was sawn through, rotated by 60° and then fixed with a metal plate. I'm still proud of my 20 cm shoulder-scar, looks badass and got me some dates at the beach. Yeah, Handball is intense...

Bietigheim wäre sehr viel näher für ihn, ist nur ne halbe Stunde. Ist zwar DEL 2 aber was solls, ich würde ihn ansich auch lieber in Mannheim sehen, am besten noch gegen Schwenningen :D ansonsten kann er auch gerne hier nach Hamm kommen, ich zahle ihm gerne das Zug Ticket, den Eintritt und das ein oder andere Bier. Dann kann er sich erstklassiges Regionalliga Eishockey anschauen xD

All those weird bike-related sports are super popular here in germany. We even have a sort of "Bike-Soccer" called Radball - you should check it out! Those guys are amazing.
I played football (at Ravensburg) and handball (TuS Mimmenhasen Mühlhofen) at the same time while i was 17 till 20 and i can tell u handball is physically much harder. U play a game and next day u train and the day after u play another game. So in handball sometimes u hav to do 4 games a week. Besides u are normally working....
