- I wanted to see how premium glass would perform on a consumer/prosumer level camera, so I took to the zoo to find out!

Nice work telling a story. Like the format. Reviews tend to get a little anti-climactic, so this was refreshing. I got the M50 as a travel camera, and for most situations the 15-45 will do, but I already had a bunch of L glass from larger cameras and I love that flexibility. The M50 is not as fast as the 7D Mk2, but it's like 1/3rd the weight and size and certainly better than the Rebel series cameras.
When paired with some nice glass, it really is an underestimated camera. Wish it had better dynamic range though
@@JustTravis_trj Probably need full frame for that. Also, Canon always has to watch "cannibalism" - if they make consumer cameras too good, they will eat the sales & profit from their high end lineup.
Thanks for answering my question... I searched the whole internet just to see if that lens could fit on the M50 using an adapter. All professional CZcamsrs kept going round and round.
Of course! I just use the native canon adapter, B&H had it for cheap. Definitely recommend. If you ever go full frame, you’ll have EF lenses already built up that way 👍🏼
Brother ofc this lense fits on the camera with a lense adapter
do you have to use an adaptor?
@@BrianHallmond yes u have to
Those transitions though! 🔥🔥
The lens is what actually focuses the image onto the sensor, so yes.
You deserve wayy more subs for the editing you do
Thank you!
I’ve been crazy busy with buying a new house and editing for clients but I have more videos planned as well
@@JustTravis_trj Alright I'm looking forward to that day
Hi Travis, nice video and nice pictures u took. Can you make another video how did u set up this L series lenses with ur M50 camera? do u need any adapter or any additional thing to use one of the expensive lenses with M50. Thanks
I totally missed this Comment! But yes you would need an adapter, specifically the Canon EF adapter
nice I live in Houston too.
Nice video man. Must say, the music is way over-the-top! Too loud and too much. But the editing is really good.
i know this is late. but im still confuse if i should still buy m50 for my 70-200 f2.8 v1. for portable cam for sports. mostly on sunny day outdoors. is the autofocus still good in for sports?
The autofocus is excellent. Low light performance is not great, and it doesn’t shoot photos incredibly fast, but it could fare with sports. Depends if you’re shouting professionally or not
thanks for the reply sir! its always outdoors and early morning. its just my hobby. :) mostly swimming, biking, and running.
gonna use it mainly on photo anyway :)
Is this the f4 or f2.8 I could not tell? Also using a monopod would make a heavy lens more manageable
It’s the f 2.8, and very true!
Nice vid ! Great editing ! Where did u get your sound effects from ? Haha
Thanks! And I’ve collected them from all over. Ryan Nangle, Peter McKinnon, Andrew James
Check out their channels! Especially Ryan’s. He has a ton of plug ins for FCPX
Just Travis ohh cool thanks !!
Great editing Travis..thank you for being different :) How fast is the focusing with that EF adapter, and did you try the speedbooster? I have many EF lenses and am considering this camera for photos. I shoot stock photography am not sure if it will be good enough. Using 5mk2 at the moment.
I haven’t seen any speed boosters for this particular camera, but I haven’t looked recently. As for focusing, it has dual pixel and even with the adapter is pretty quick and accurate. The only time where this camera struggles with autofocus is low light. From my experience so far, this camera is actually a great buy for the money, and with some good glass will give you petty good results, but... it does struggle to be crisp in low light. Currently I am using the fantastic EF-S 17-55mm 2.8 stabilized. That lens is fantastic, my only complaint is the noise of the autofocus motor in that particular lens
Thank you :) Can you mount an EF-S lens on the same adapter you are using for EF lens?
Yes, the EF and EF S are the same mount, but if you use an EF S Lens on a full frame you’ll see some vignetting
Thanks Travis
Edit: there is now a speed booster out for the M50. Potato Jet does a great overview of it on his channel

Lol you can see Lucy and I get progressively more exhausted and hot throughout the course of the video
What's the best zoom lens for sports Photography like motorcycle racing using with adaptor and not too expensive
1.18-1.22 how u made that🔥🔥🔥 that is sick 🔥🔥
Just Travis...cheers for the video...do you still get the full burst mode with the adapted lens and M50... I'm thinking of it for my son's soccer and vloging...Tamron 18-400
I do, though I’m adapting to EF or EF-S lenses, I have not tried a Tamron
@@JustTravis_trj thanks for the reply mate ... appreciated and unexpected
Hey there,
I'm planning to buy a m50, but I'm confused which telephoto lens should I get I have 70-300 USM ii on my mind but I'm not about the sharpness and the image quality which I'll get with it, on the sidenote I'm also interested in getting a 70-200 f4 is l lens refubrished.
What are your views
Will I be able to get good pictures with 70-300 or should I get 70-200
I would go with the better glass personally, unless you just need that extra reach that the 70-200 can’t give you
i love this i just ordered a M50 and got into photography and i want am seeing this lens, i want it BUT well will take some time. Also would i need an adapter? and what adapter is the one i will need?
Nice! This particular lens will need an adapter. It will need an EF-M to EF adapter
@@JustTravis_trj Thank you so much i will order the adapter so when i get this lens i will be ready. Thank you so much Travis.
Great contents here, appreciate you. Please kindly give me the title of that song.
What lens was it?
70-200 EF lens from canon
Have you use this 70-200 with a Speed Booster on the M50?
I didn’t. I actually want to try it, but I just used the regular Canon EF adapter
Just Travis If you do, make a video about it!
Nice translation ss
Is that an Aggie ring I see? Lol
U of H 😉
Robbie video next.??.
My next video is actually in Austin, but I’ll get you in there!
robbie video next!
You should learn to use the settings and use nd filters bc your fotage isnt great. I have that same camera i dont use it that much but ik the camera can do better if you just use it right and colorgrade
As I mentioned, this was a borrowed lens so I did not have an ND for it, but I’m fully aware of the settings to use and the shutter speed rule. I appreciate the advice though.
Happy filmmaking :)
@@JustTravis_trj no worries, great video tho 👍🏼
