Hello - Perhaps you know the answer to this question, or could ask him, but why does that group of musicians (at the far left) wear different uniforms than the rest of the band?

@@DavidForemsky they do that so they don’t damage the cords on their uniforms. I was an Army Bandsmen and percussionists and Sousaphones never wore their awards and decorations during parades and things like that.

I am so thrilled that this group performed this piece. It holds a special place in my heart having worked on it at UMASS with Maslanka himself. One of my favorite musical experiences in my life for sure.

This is exactly how this symphony was meant to be played. Bravo, Marines!
I got to play this on bass trombone with the Virginia Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble 10 years ago at Carnegie Hall. Brings back a lot of good memories.

Yes, though that melody has been in existence for way longer than the United States has. Bach uses it in Cantata 130 which is older than the United States. czcams.com/video/bptAGuDHhe0/video.html

@@BigAl72ZGE der Fürst die Cherubinen. Yeah… a response to this comment would take a 25 page academic research paper. In short the concept of the United States of America has been in existence well before 1776; Cantata 130… as color is not race and as an Allen not a descendant of Bishop Richard Allen (founder of the A.M.E.) but James. As a founding church of the USA African Methodist Episcopal is very GERMAN; as are we.
