    I have an 850 and just did my first deep cleaning. I scraped grates and deflector same way and used the ash inside to soak up excess grease. Then I scraped whole inside to grease bucket. Shop vacuumed contents out Wiped inside out with paper towels. I then cleaned as best I could the grates and deflector then pressure washed them. Allowed them to dry in sun then return to grill. After that i wiped exterior with damp towel and finished up with paper towels. Turned out great but wish i had seasoned the deflector with veggie oil before I cooked the first time.

    I put aluminum foil on the bottom of my smoker and 1/2 way up the side front and back of my PB pro 850. I also wrap my deflector with aluminum foil. It makes the clean up and mess so much better. If I use the sear/flame option i still wrap it but I just take a butter knife to cut slits in the foil before starting.

      @@JR-hy2mq I wanted to do that, but when we were reading the manual it specifically said NOT TO DO IT? I feel like if you made your cuts precise around the openings and take into acct the adjustment for the heat shield one can pull this off pretty effectively? When I look at my charcoal side, I considered getting a thin pan (pie pan) that I could lay on the bottom and would hold the charcoal without making the entire bottom a mess. But then you have to find a pan that is perfect that won't disintegrate at 5-600°. Interested in your thoughts? Thanks!

    I just got the Pit Boss 1150 Version 3 pellet smoker. It has all the modifications that I have seen that people have been asking over the years.
    I have noticed some people have put aluminum foil over the dome surface to make cleanup easier. I don't know if that is a good idea.
    Pit Boss people told me not to do that.
    How about cleaning. After 6-12 months of use cleaning the grill out every 2 cooking times is it good to use a degreaser to get rid of the build up grease inside?
    I also have been told to use a plastic scraper to clean the inside walls of the unit.
    Any other suggestions would be helpful.

    New to your channel and learning a lot. I have noticed that you have used the 1100 or 1150 and the 1600 series in both the Elite, Pro or competition models. I was just wondering if you would go with the double wall feature of the Pro 1600 or Pro Elite 1600 or do you think the single wall construction of the Pro 1100 smokes just as well and the double walls don’t really add much to the end result of the cook other than a nice 70 Ibs of extra weight. Im stuck trying to decide on getting the 1600 Pro that has the double walls and retails for about $300 more than the Pro 1100. Thanks for your guidance.

    Call me obsessed but I always clean my grill by running it through the dishwasher, letting it dry completely and then spraying it with a little food release (like Pam), so food won't stick to it on the next grilling. Question: If you take out the burn pot can you then wash the bottom of the barrel and let the water drain out through the burn pot hole?

    Thanks for the tutorial! I’ve been watching a handful of your videos as someone new to pellet smokers (I’m about 6 cooks deep as I type this) and I was wondering, do you recommend degreasing and wet cleaning the inside of the smoker ever? I’m noticing a buildup in mine and I’m being a bit overly cautious about how I take care of it. Also, I’m noticing a lot of oxidization on my sear plate and pan. I’ve done a baking soda and vinegar treatment but it didn’t seem to remove much. Any advice there or am I worried about nothing? Ive messed up some propane grills in the past so when I upgraded to my Pit Boss pellet I promised I was gonna take extra care of it.

    • @GrillSergeant
      @GrillSergeant  Před 10 měsíci +1

      So that pit boss degreaser is non toxic so you could use it on the inside. You could try grape seed oil on the sear plate. And if you arnt using the sear feature you can put down aluminum foil over it to protect it.

    How you avoid this very simple! While you're cooking glass of water in between cooks a switching out stuff on the grill current all the way up to 500 pour water over the sear plate completely It will steam everything off and clean it and rinse it off at the same time and it'll keep that sear plate nice and clean! At the same time wet sponge keep the grill clean while you're cooking wipe down in between changes of meat
