Cthulhu: death may rise produced the LARGEST model I have ever seen, and I had only 24 hours to paint it. I melted the monoliths with a hair dryer so I could drill out the shapes and using LED lights light up the monoliths. I used my airbrush, dry brushing and glazing to create a Cthulhu in my signature colors, purple and green.

Cat cameo so oddly appropriate...
That turned out fantastic! Excellent work!
The details on the eyes was especially striking! The whole thing looked like an experience and a half! Great job!
Thank you!
3:06 that 11pm mood is basically my entire existence now.
Money shot, and cat butt immediately. Love it.
Rejoice that Cthulhu sleeps. And now you should too after that day long paint session. Masterful work
That's just beautiful work, and I love the addition of the purple LED lighting.
The glowing runes look incredible, I definitely need to spend more time on my glow effects
Came out great, well done.
Your words keep saying “fun” while your face is saying “why-do-you-hat-freedom!?!?” You did a fantastic job on a colossal project. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, that is an insane model! Well done!
One word....EPIC!!!
Magnificent!!! The Elder Gods would be proud!
The eyes look amazing!
Just amazing, the finer details are stunning.
Wow. Mad massive mini painting skills, Lyla! The details like those eyes and glowing sigils are an awesome finishing touch too. 👏
That drilling music slaps!
absolutely great job
That's the CMON R'lyeah Rising mini! It goes to one of the best games ever-- Cthulhu death may die. The finished product looks incredible! I might need to attempt the LED lighting on mine.
An ambitious project well done!
Great job. I like the orange cat for scale.
Glorious.
Loved the eyes most of all!
very awesome paint job a model that big would make a heck of a door stop
Holy cow. I painted mine in 24hours straight a few years ago and watching this caused me flashbacks. I felt like I was back on that emotional ride all over again. Nice job.
Looks amazing, and those eyes!!
A model this size is absolutely a candidate for priming with a rattle can, regardless of how much you love your airbrush. Can't deny the results though, amazing work!
About half way through priming I really wished I had done a rattle can
Was about to suggest this. Models of this size usually demand rattle cans and washes. Then you can spend more time doing the detail work. Otherwise, it's like trying to paint a land raider with a 20/0 line brush lol 😄
Well done! You did amazing given the time constraints!
What a great job!
Great paint job
Very cool paint job and the lights turned out great.
That was an awesome job on such a big boy.
As Dread Cthulhu causes madness in yet another artist.
Amazing work!
Just wow!
Looking good 👍
9:18 most relatable moment!
that is dope
Awesome, thanks for the insight. Would love to see how the eyes were done, probably enough effort was done for its own video!
Awesome job, love it
Good color scheme!
Congrats on completing your toddler sized cthulu! I remember painting my buddy's during the pandemic and needing to put up plastic sheeting to make a spray booth for the monstrosity 😂😂
Excellent work 😊
Came over for the ginger cat, stayed for the model painting.
I've been so tempted to buy that bad boy, now I know this is possible, I'm even more tempted 😅
to get the giant of a kit built in that time ,people might say easy but for some only if all your paints are all planned out and you know what paint and technique your going to use maybe but great work and sharing all your great work with us all keep it up .
I was just going to say how amazing the glowing pillars look when you showed a closeup of his eyes, and WOW!
Awesome!!
Now that's been some trypophobia fuel... What an unbelievable monstrosity! Lyla, well done for pushing through this arduous challenge💪🏼
incredible
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
That was great! So glad the carving and lighting worked.
I never assumed I'd see someone make a video with this thing. It's been sitting on my shelf for years...mostly just waiting for me to finish all the other episodes of the game to get to it for a big finale.
Gorgeous! I love the suction cups on his back and rump.
Incredible. Simply incredible. Amazing work and yes those eye are unbelievable. I hope you have a video on doing eyes like that, I'm going to look now. Wow.
Eyes are amazing, would love to see how you achieved that! This guy is sat on top of my bookshelf ...waiting...may copy your idea with the LEDs and I definitely want to build up the water more
Thanks!
Wow...😍
Having seen this beast in person all I really have to say is "h'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
That turned out awesome!!! I love the colors, they really made those shadows! And what a cool sculpt!!!
Epic. Way to Go BIG! And that glow effect is so bright!
This is one of my favorite pieces you've painted! It looks freaking epic!
Fantastic model done right, the lighting effects are so cool as well! I can only imagine what a chore it was to prepare for painting
That looks really great! I also enjoyed the frequent sightings of Cat-thulu 😊
Definitely a cool model nice work as always
i love that model and you did an awesome job on it. love it.
Absolutely amazing!
amazing!!!!
Amazing, love the glowing runes!
Dayum! Just dayum!
i really appreciate the time you put in to this but i feel like you did the texture of the sculpt a disservice, maybe you could have done more dry brushing instead of doing glazing and airbrushing at the end. it might just be how it looks on camera :s Keep up the good work. also the water looks really good!
I loved being able to paint one of these. If I had one of my own I would definitely light it like this. Fantastic!
You did a magnificent job. You shouldn’t be upset at all that looks great.
Now I'm really regretting that I didn't add the giant Cthulhu to the Season 3/4 Kickstarter, when it was available. Looks like I need to hope for a third KS now. Anyhow, you got some real mad painting skills. Would have taken me weeks to get something that big to at least halve the quality you achieved here.
NIce!!! Also, some ideas for my, still unpainted, Cthulhu Wars big lad.👍
Those holes in his skin give me shivers
Hey Lyla, just wanted to stop and say that I always enjoy watching your videos and how you're keeping all of your ups and downs in there to show the reality of painting models and doing crafts. This turned out really cool, especially with the time restrictions you were given!
Awesome paint job!
I love the colors that you used, good job and well done.
Thank you so much!
Massively cool
Woow! Really enjoyed watching this kind of project from you! Hope you found it fun too!
Incredible Paintjob, i did not think the whole model can look so good in such a short time. Also the Lights look amazing, i think the final shots in a light enviroment dont do it justice
Amazing job and great video! I imagine if you had more time, it would have even more awesomeness to it.
Yassss! I've always kicked myself for missing out on this when it first came out on KS
This thing is stunning! Especially thinking how fast you were able to do this is just unreal.
Thank you very much!
I’m gonna be painting the Marvel Zombies Galactus this week. I’ve literally taken a week off work to get it done. Love your content as always Lyla. #NotificationSquad
That is breathtaking. Its a bit of a dream of mine to paint this one day.
This cuthulu Is like 40% fupa,it's impressive
Can’t wait to have no where to put this monstrosity when it arrives with my Kickstarter
Can’t wait to paint it though it’s gonna be a blast
Impressive!!! Congrats !!!
So cool! Just WOW! I almost added this to my Kickstarter pledge, almost, but I’m just a dilettante when it comes to painting and could never have done it justice. Besides, as I’m sure you’re aware at some point you look at your pledge, and just have to say, “Stop, you need to buy food this month too!” Love that I got to see what a true artist was able to do with it, bravo!
Looks amazing. Even more so considering the time constraint.
Amazing!!! I bet you're painting box art in no time!
I love the orange eyes, and the details in them (would that be called specular highlights?).
Amazing over all, but that was the one detail that really grabbed me.
In photography we call them catch lights! I'm not sure if they have any other name
My patience level is so low that even when I paint a single space marine, I start half-assing the edge highlighting. I can't fathom painting a model this gigantic.
Extremely impressive and great to see you working on a larger scale. I predominantly work 1/6 up to 1/1 but I find that so much of what you teach me in mini scale is transferable to my preferred scale. This upload was the best of both worlds. Thank you so much
Amazing work! Can't believe how fast you got this done!
Thank you!
Awesome!
Very huge statue,Bravo Lyla ,great paintjob ,this sure will give nythmares to the cats !
Awesome result! 😍
I never painted such a huge model. I am sure it's a complete other thing to deal with...
Wow, wooooooow, wooooooooooooooow. Dont have words.... Thanks for sharing with us!
