Thank you for sharing your VW setup. Love your choice of music.
Volkswagen van, always the best, it's got the retro feeling.
Great setup!
great van! a rig to be proud of for sure
Awesome video!!!
Thank you for the tour! I can't wait to see your next adventures.
greaat setup, very inspiring
What a fantastic setup.
I love following your channel
Very cool update on the Van !! Looking forward to seeing some new adventures. Thanks for the inspiration !!
Wow you are a good mechanic! Excellent van.
You have a really good Vanagon.
Loved it dear nephew ❤ Looking forward to watching your next adventure!
So much adventure!
nice van nice video thankyou
"In return, I made it worse on both" love the honesty, in return, I'll subscribe
Thanks for the info about your van! I was surprised to learn how many different engines you have put in there!
A lot. Maybe I’m not the best at building engines or my budget and knowledge previously just wasn’t enough to build something reliable.
@@Sebastianstonum wait a minute, all those previous engines broke?! Haha! Here I was going to say you are probably a pro by now at building and swapping engines in and out! lol There’s more story to be told here. You have more content for future videos! 😉 You could sprinkle these stories into your regular adventure episodes. Talk about a particular engine and what went wrong while you are driving or after you crack a beer open at your destination for that day. Or make a dedicated video, just some ideas for ya. 🙂 Those ALHs are pretty hardy engines, should serve you pretty well!
Love your van…when I was looking to buy a camper I really wanted a Westfalia. If I was more mechanically inclined, I would’ve bought one.
Yeah they can be a bit temperamental sometimes
Hey the idea with the Green storage Containers is great. Do you know where i can buy it? Greetings from Germany
Hope your Hi Lift has a lock on it, don't want stuff sprouting legs and walking off. Ben T Syncro stove grates would be a nice addition for your pots and pans. Everything's looking good and can't wait for your next adventure.
I make sure everything is locked up before leaving the van anywhere haha not that it will stop people but it’ll make it a little harder for them.
Absolutely great van build! I have an 87 Westy that is coming close to a full restoration and I am interested in understanding more about your front suspension. I’m getting ready to buy upper bushings as well as upper and lower ball joints, and radius arm bushings. From Go Westy, I already have the Go Westy inch and half lift on the front but yours seems much higher, what did you use and was it hard to get aligned with that kind of lift?
Don't live in fear of mice! Keep them out! The Samba has lots of threads explaining where all the common entry points are. Cover them up!
Great build, I totally thought it was a syncro! Where is your fridge/cooler since you removed the Westy fridge? I didn't see one by the slider door where most seem to mount their larger Dometic/Engel/ARB etc
Cool to see the details. Have you upgraded your insulation at all for the cold climates?
I switched out the pop top canvas so worth it takes 2 people tho
Yeah I’ve looked into that and it doesn’t look like fun haha it’s on the long list of things to do though
Loved this informative video. Thank you. I'm curious you mentioned upgraded mounts for the Longer ARB awning. Are the mounts home built or did you buy them somewhere? I know that the standard mounts for the ARB do not permanently screw into the side of the van.
It does not screw into the roof. There are brackets that are sold for the gutter on the van that the awning will bolt to. I got my gutter mounts from gowesty
What was it - about the 1985 models?
OH, WERE THEY EVER COOL 😎!
They got it right in the 80’s for sure!
Case in point: The following decade, the 90's, introduced their EuroVan.
It simply WASN'T THE SAME! 👍 Yeah.
It DIDN'T HOLD A 🕯️ CANDLE - to it!
Now you need to Park it "Down by the River"
The rivers won’t know what hit em
Nice walkthrough Sebastian. Did you add the snorkel pre air filter to this TDI or did you have it with the last motor?
Finally got my Vanagon after much patience. Out of Utah, I’ve heard you mention Utah in other content. Pretty stoked!
I added the Donaldson filter with the snorkel after the TDI swap but it’ll also work with a stock setup or Subaru. I have a garage in salt lake!
GoWesty brakes front and rear? You mentioned they are working well after some modifications. What were the modifications?
Stock front brakes and gw rear disk conversion. The caliper breaker needed to be filed down to not rub on the rotor. Other than that it’s a pretty solid kit.
Nice setup! What is your average mpg?
Thanks! I’m averaging 27mpg at 55-60mph
What Tire size are you Running? 😂
Really big ones!
Promo`SM ☀️
Where are you from, buddy?)
Currently Utah but I’ve lived a lot of places
@@Sebastianstonum but your native is USA?
@@konstantinlaurson7862 technically, yes. I’ve lived in England too
@@Sebastianstonum go to europe or South America))
@@konstantinlaurson7862 that’s the goal if I can find a way!
There are nice on the inside, but like you say they are not reliable vehicles, any vehicle that has a motor in the rear will leave you broke in repairs
Reliability is a luxury haha
I’ve been real lucky I guess …swapped to a subi motor after 7 years in my 1988. Essentially zero issues.
@@sheiladawson1648 that’s great!
Nice build - Been watching your last few vids from Alaska - Keep up the good work - from a Fellow 4 cyl turbo Diesel wrencher - Just subbed to your Instagram - Cheers Bill B
Thanks! The videos have been fun to make
