- Why have something like TCGS if you don't do something nice for other people with it? When Alyssa told us she was coming to the studio for the first time, I knew I had to call in some favors. From McBrayer to Fey to Moynihan to EVERYONE, let alone to music by the fantastically kind Mr. TED LEO, this is probably the thing I'm most proud of.

Alyssa now has a show on Adult Swim called Three Busy Debras
Which begs the question who was she already? Kids don't get tv shows for calling in to public access.
Had to revisit this after seeing Alyssa as a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers. She's come so far! Luckily she seemed a bit less nervous to talk to him this time.
Have you got a link to that, I'm new to the whole story but I'm getting that Alyssa was an ongoing guest on the shows etc.
Just watched Alyssa accept a WGA award for Three Busy Debras and this character arc is flawless and awesome.
The "Flick That Bean" theme song is amazing.
This might be the sweetest thing I've ever seen one person do for another. Yeah, it made great TV, but I don't think Gethard did it for that reason. It makes me wish I could have usurped her position. A great episode of what is fast becoming my favorite show. (Take that Eric Andre...)
I can't help but think this appearance really gave Alyssa the boost of confidence to get to where she's at now. So cool. I can't imagine where I'd be if someone pushed me like this.

Between Fesh, the Hero's Journey, this, and pretty much everything else, is there anything more life affirming on TV than TCGS?

Ironically I think the way Shannon treated Alyssa was much healthier than acting like a 16 year old girl is a fragile child.
That's what I've always thought. By 16 I was already drinking, getting stoned, having sex, etc... She does seem extremely innocent, albeit.

Amazing.
It's a bit like Troy meeting LeVar Burton in Community, just more reserved. Also, like Community, TCGS is one of the few shows to absolutely capture magic in a bottle. A true X factor, a charm and charisma that can't be quantified, but TCGS had more of it than any show ever imo.
Edit: not as rare with music due to less moving parts and tastes vary more in the medium, but for me Ted Leo has this "gene" too.
I watched the newer series first, now watching the earlier stuff and I finally get it. Oh how the mighty fell

i love how shannon highlighted how mature she and the rest of the cast thought alyssa was then chris just kept mollycoddling her
it's a shame, it really did feel like a handcuffed-to-the-radiator type scenario
Mollycoddling, I need to start using that word!
The only misstep on this episode was when Shannon was handed the footlong sub and she didn't immediately open it and start eating. Otherwise, the best TCGS to date. (Yeah, I'm behind the times but I live in Asia and we're in the future here, it's easy to miss things as a time traveler.)

anyone else feel like she came across a little bit ungrateful? this was amazing of chris to do for her and i think even he picked up on it at some point...great episode nonetheless.

I think she was still internalizing what's been given to her, so she didn't say a lot as she was taking it all in.
