    it was so much simpler in the 1990s. I had a 3-park pass my 2nd time at Disney World in April of 1994 and going from park to park was super easy, just show your pass and away you went no matter what time it was. Food was moderately cheap (we were each given $20 and we had some to spare by the end of the day after eating twice). Things are so much different now and so much more expensive.

    I worked at Disney World in the early 80’s. It was much simpler then. Everyone had a passport. No fast pass. No (or very few) reservations were required. Everyone was on a level playing field. Now you have to be rich just to enter the parks! The more money you spend, and it’s off to the front of the line. Disney has always been about making money, but it has gotten out of control. Between the cost and the rules, that along with all the fond memories I have, I choose never to go back.

    • @daylightdaylight6612
      @daylightdaylight6612 Před 11 měsíci

      Yes in the 80's there was no fast pass, you had 2 lines,now you have 1 line fast pass or similar and 1 normal line, so now the capacity has been halved.
      Previously, for example, tthere was a capacity of 100 people per 15 minutes (2 lines: 2x 50 people) now due to the splitting of the lines into fast pass (or whatever it may be called) and a normal line, one only has a half capacity of 50 people in the normal line and a minimum number of people in the fast lane, in short, the capacity per 15 minutes is much less than before.

    I always thought it was a bit of a rip-off to close Disney early for a special ticketed event, but charge full price for the day. Disney is essentially selling your time to someone else and pocketing the extra cash.

      @basicleighdisney5643 Před rokem +42

      That's why it's important to check the calendars and avoid attending parks that are closing early for those events. However, there ARE benefits to going to that park anyway. They're normally less crowded during the regular park hours because people who don't have a park hopper ticket or annual pass generally don't attend those shorter hour days so it can be easier to get more done in those shortened hours. It's all about perspective and good planning.

      @@s.p.3738 Private events are a different thing, and I'm not quite sure if Disney has a cutoff time for those. Party events or the after hours events should have set dates several months in advance, although they could potentially add dates on for after hours without that much notice. But the parties at MK have set dates by spring when tickets go on sale. Sometimes you can look at a prior calendar year to see which days of the weeks had Disney events because they usually don't change those from year to year.

      I'd appreciate that as a video topic as well, though since my food allergies are uncommon I doubt mine would be brought up. It's capsaicin that I'm allergic to, which is in almost everything. And most people trying to give me advice on what to eat are like "oh this and this don't have peppers, I didn't taste peppers" when it's not peppers that is the big issue, it's most things having some sort of chili powder or chili oil in it that is a huge issue. It's so hard to know what is safe and what isn't when places will never tell you outright if they use chili powder or chili oil, nor will they take your request to not use those seriously.

I’d obviously go for a meal that there’s no chance of it being in such as turkey let, chicken with veg & gravy, custom pizza or whatever. But yes it can be a struggle looking through menus to see what would be suitable. When I went to Disney last year I was with a friend who has a gluten allergy so we literally had to go through all the menu’s online looking for restaurants where there were multiple dairy free AND gluten free options (encase what we wanted wasn’t available there’d still be things we could eat) in restaurants. It literally took us HOURS scrolling every menu on Disney. But if we hadn’t it would have been a struggle when we got there making sure we could both eat.

You have paid a huge amount of money and your goal is to do as many things as possible in as short of a time as possible or you will be wasting your money. At least, that is what it feels like. I see A.J. recommending taking a break away from the parks in the middle of the day to re-charge. Do you realize how expensive that would be? Figure $200 for a single day ticket, and that you will be in the parks for 10 hours. That is $20 an hour. Say you are a family of 4. Say you take a 2 hour break in the middle of the day. That is 8 hours of break time @ $20/hour = $160.00. You are paying $80 per hour to swim at the pool in your hotel that you are already paying $200 per day to stay at. Disney vacations are lots of fun, but they are never relaxing (unless you have unlimited time & money). Of course, that is never an excuse for rudeness whatsoever, and I agree you should ALWAYS be pleasant to the cast members and other guests.

    On the preparing for your visit page courtesy should be emphasized twice. Once before Theme Park Reservations and at the end where it is already because some people have short memories so it's good to remind them at the beginning and then at the end to drive the point home.

    23:24 on the no drone rule, it's also to prevent people from realizing how out of proportion their buildings are when viewed from any angle except from the ground.
    Case in point, the princesses' castle when viewed from about 30' up looks WEIRD because the upper floors are compacted.

    Everyone complaining on the rules, Disneyland has had almost all of these rules for a while now, specially the no drones, bad attitudes, dress code, early park hopper restrictions, brining your own transportation, imitation of characters, smoking, plastics, and ticket reservations for example. Im kinda surprised they are just implementing this.

    My adult son has frequently encouraged me to visit Disney World. He started when he was a teenager. We were in for a couple of days and he wanted me to go to the park with him. I told him I'd buy him a ticket but I didn't want to go. I don't like crowds, I don't like rides, and just had no desire to visit the Park.
    This video only confirms my desire never to visit a Disney Park.

  • @Lagzlot
    @Lagzlot Před rokem +1

    "Please keep your hands and arms inside the ride at all times" applies to all your functioning extremities. One hand on the safety bar and at least one on your phone does not count. Besides that, electronics are electronics and an unprepared jolt or splash could mean snap, crackle, and even pop. Leave the ride videos to the pros. They often have better equipment than you and sometimes have arrangement with the parks for their recordings.

    I actually got in trouble when I was 19 for wearing an Elsa costume as my little sister was dressed as Anna. We were going to the Halloween event but got there early to ride some rides. I was actually approached by a castmember who told me they would let it slide this one time but not to take any photos or say I was Elsa (we go all out and it was an almost spot on costume with wig, crown and shoes included) and she got onto a walkie to say she spoke to 'young Elsa and Anna' and we were ok. The rest of the day all the castmembers would call us Queen and Princess which was really nice for my little sister and we had so much fun. The year before we had done Dorothy and Wicked Witch (me) but werent spoken to, most likely because they were MGM but not Disney characters (went all out then, green skin for me and ruby slipper for her included)

    In 4 trips, i have only encountered 1 rude cm, and it was a bus driver.
    Everytime i have ever seen someone saving a table at a restaurant, i have always simply assumed they had someone in line for food. On our first trip my husband and perhaps one or more of our 3 kids would do it because some tables could not accommodate our family of 5. Its not much fun to split up at mealtime

    It's funny how much money we have to spend and how they many rules and limits Disney has put out. I hate the reservation rule and the park hopping rule. Like we pay thousands of dollars and you're telling me I can't park hop before 2pm? Absolutely ridiculous.

There are on 13 HC spots for that whole lot. I use to complain but once they stopped giving out the parking papers (the paper that said your name and what resort you were staying at) i was told they don't care and whomever can park there...even those not staying at BLT.

    I understand the hate workers got during covid, but they were just as rude at times. Some castmembers abused their power. I went once during the end of "Covid" and there was this woman panicking because she lost her small daughter. She was trying to explain to a castmember this and held her mask down a little so the castmember could hear her more clearly. The first thing the worker said was "You need to put your mask up," that was it. There was no compassion for this woman who was clearly emotionally upset, hot, sweaty, and clearly panicked. My mother informed one of the supervisors of what had happened and she too agreed that the castmember was in the wrong and that should not have been the first thing she said, especially when dissucusing a lost child with a concerned mother.
