As a PSU fan, I would NOT sleep on Greene. He is very very good.
This seems like the laziest dive into an opponent. GG is a dynamic qb and WVU does in fact have a quick strike offense that is very balanced and explosive all at once. The secondary is rebuilt and the defensive line and front 7 the absolute strength of the team. Our defensive line vs Penn states o line? That’s good on bad and I’ll take that matchup with some truly disruptive and diverse body types that can end drives against a less than fleet of foot Allar.
Also the WVU secondary argument is a pretty wild take. We overhauled the whole room. It's not like we have a ton of old starters at that spot and trying to mix the old in with the new, which can cause chemistry issues. Its mostly new players. So, every new addition is being coached up on the same thing in the same room from the same coach. It's not the same as adding in offensive pieces and trying to work out the chemistry of your offense with old and new players with a new OC.
Drew Allar still not captain or has that been announced by now? If not, WVU can win if they get the lead and the run game is not working. Allar must prove his leadership play after play all the way to TDs when behind against a good opponent like WVU.

Talk about not seeing the forest from the trees...not surprised at PSU homers looking down their noses at any program deemed inferior historically in comparison to themselves...elitism gets you overconfident against opponents with a legit punchers chance...keep up with the hate till GameDay...maybe this rivalry can be resparked despite the overall record against each other...and Franklin deciding to punch in a TD in closing seconds with the outcome decided last yr is clearly going to be a point of contention in game prep & extra motivation
WVU will be singing country roads at the end of this game. This is not the same WVU team that played Penn State a year ago. WVU has players just as big, just as fast if not faster and just as strong as Penn State. WVU is not a division 3 team and WVU is not a FCS school. The only way Penn State wins this game is the officials are paid enough money to take away certain big plays and scores from WVU. If WVU can handle Texas over the years. WVU can certainly handle Penn State.
I live in Morgantown and i know Penn State can score. I think it's WV offense against the State defense. If we can start fast and move the ball... there may be a late forth quarter or overtime chance. I do believe the Lions will win this one by 6 or so. Just think it will be a different game then last year. There will be no feeling the other team out shit like we had in 2023😊. I think both playbooks are going to be wide open in 2024. Should be a fun one for sure!
I grew up in the shadow of Penn State and attended WVU. On paper Penn State should win. The way Penn State loses this game is exactly your attitude. James Franklin is notorious for underestimating opponents. The game is in Morgantown. The noon kick off is irrelevant. We wake up early to pregame. The crowd will be a big factor and Garret Green is a player who is very emotional and feeds off that energy. Green has improved significantly since the last meeting and they've added at receiver. They can throw down field and Greens mobility is a factor. If Penn State comes in with the team/Franklin just assuming they will win and Green goes off fueled by the crowed they absolutely can beat PSU. This is trap game for Penn State.
As a Wvu fan…yes you will probably beat us but with that being said this team is going to be at least somewhat better and I don’t think you guys realize how good and experienced wvus entire offense is it’s not gonna be easy Morgantown is crazy whenever a rival comes to town my prediction 38-30 penn state
I have said that I think West Virginia is better overall. All three of WVU's leading rushers are back. It is in Morgantown. My point is that WVU operates the same. At the core, the offense and defense will not change much. And Penn State has the players and the scheme to match up for that. I think 68 points is way too many. First game of the season. New Penn State offense. Something like 28-20 seems more likely.

I am crawling in my skin listening to a bias opinion on why WVU has Nooooo chance against Penn st. First off, no fan of WVU is saying this is a guaranteed win, don’t know where you got that. Second, the score last year was not representative of how close the game actually was. WVU held Penn St to 14 points and a 1 TD lead until half way through the third. The team this year is much better and not to mention this game is in Morgantown. I would also like to remind you that in last year game Franklin decided to score a touchdown with 8 seconds to go in the game. West Virginia remembers that. The sorry little nittany kittens are gonna come to Morgantown and find out how much more the mountaineers want this game.
It’s also a day game which makes a huge difference and PSU is better in the trenches. Not saying it will be a blowout but WVU will be worn down in the second half like last year. The difference is PSU is much deeper which will show through later in the game

And, day game or not, that stadium will be filled shoulder to shoulder with fans who are pissed about the way the game ended last year, and a team that has a rock on there shoulder, ready to prove to the world they are a top tier program. @@tmcobb04 many of the fans there will be PSU though which you have to keep in mind. I think if PSU gets up early the crowd will die off quick.

Penn State leads the all time series vs West Virginia by 49-9-2
and WVU was often better than they will be this season. The talent gap as you guys point out is significant and 2 deep. WVU may hang close even thru 3 quarters, but short of a couple of huge turnovers translating to WVU TD’s, Penn State will wear them down and likely cover the spread.

Penn State football should come out with controlled anger after a tough Peach Bowl performance and loss against Ole Miss. One benefit is new PSU OC Kotelneki knows West Virginia and how to attack the Mountaineers defensively (shifting to 3-4 D). My initial read or to early to tell prediction on the game at Morgantown was a Penn State 38-21 over West Virginia.

Eers fan here. Excited for the challange. I agree yall should have no problem in this one. Morgantown is a tough place to play so I wouldn’t be shocked if we pull it off. But PSU should definitely take care of business.
PSU fans, these are not the same teams as last year. You all have new coaching staff adds and there can be growing pains with a new OC and DC. We dont.
Drew allar was 2841 total offense, 29 TDs, 2 ints, 15 sacks.
Garrett Greene went 3187 total offense, 29 TDs, 4 ints, 5 sacks, and he did it with 2 less games than Allar.
Not to mention WVU was the top rushing offense in all P4 and was ranked #4 in all college football. PSU wasn't in the top 10, let alone top 25.
Our defense is vastly improved from 2023. It isn't going to be a cake walk it will be a competitive game. Greene has made strides and is a better field general than Allar, and his growth will show August 31st.
