My dummy load is somewhat a deluxe version, with a rotary switch, diode logic and a bunch of relays switching four big Vishay Sfernice 8Ω 160W resistors into 4, 8, 16Ω stereo and 2, 4 and 16Ω mono. I also wanted to include some sort of output power metering solution in it, but didn't get it to work the way I wanted.

Sounds like a great setup. I have a Sencore amplifier tester that also provides a stereo dummy load in multiple resistances.

So saying simply how to choose resistor power vs amplifier. Just simply the same as amplifier (eg. 50 Watt amplifier@8ohm = 50 watt resistor or more. Thanks in advance.
