Very enjoyable video this evening. We have not been there in several years and the first time was via Amtrak into Grand Junctions and a rental car to Moab. We did RV there more recently with two couples who have since lost their mate and we no longer travel with them anymore so all the places we have been with them are now great memories. We are coming up on 20 years of RV travel, never full time but have been on the road for up to six weeks many times during that time. Planning to be in Durango and on up into Yellowstone this year taking our nine year old granddaughter for her first trip to both of these places. Keep up the great videos, we love watching each week. God bless and safe travels.

George, apologies for both my tardy reply, and one that may have unintentionally appeared a bit snarky. I understand your points, but the fact remains that there's nothing even remotely secret about the Moab area. Furthermore, the Moab area heavily promotes itself nationwide online, via television commercials, highway billboards, etc. through both its own expenditures and those of the Utah Office of Tourism. A Grand Adventure video in no way affects any outcome as you professed in your original comment.
You'll love it out there Mike! Just FYI, we always pin our boondocking sites in the video description, and we have an Interactive Travel Episode Map on our website GrandAdventure.tv made with Google My Maps that has each video link, thumbnail and description embedded.
@@GrandAdventure I 💛 This! That's exactly what I did on my map Too! These maps are fantastic if we're ready to go we don't even need to know where to go just pick a Direction and a plethora of destinations await!
Hey Marc, rewatching some Ga for our trip this summer, how did you zoom while droning? Mavic zoom? Love that Boondocking site. We are going there, will our rig make it? Larry
If I did zoom, which I don't remember doing off hand, I did it in post. That road into the campsite is pretty rough. No big deal if you're used to it, but it could be intimidating if you're not.
I love seeing your video and all the history with it. It give me some place to visit in my incoming trip there probably this fall either or not the borders reopened (from Quebec) But..., you, where do you find all theses new places to visit?
Windman, we just grab a map and go! Here's hoping that the border reopens soon. As you may know, Mrs. GA is from Quebec City and we've been trying to bring our RV there since last summer to visit family. We still haven't been able to do so.
I was a little disappointed, we were just 30 mins from where we live this was our test run lol. Near a city . The network was connected it said signal was strong I think it is me doing something wrong
Marc, it looked like you're the only one in the group to have roof mounted solar. How did your friends do with their portable, ground mounted panels. Just curious because I'm considering the portable route to 'dip my toe' into solar. Thanks.
They're doing fine on their identical 200-watt portable solar setups, Peter. We've now been together for two and a half weeks, and no one has needed their generator at all the entire time. Jackie has 200 Ah of Battle Born LiFePO4 batteries but has yet to add an inverter, whereas both Ed and ourselves have 300 Ah and inverters -- Ed's is 3,000 watts, ours 1,200. Portable panels are a great way to get into solar without the labor of installing a roof-mounted setup. They also allow you to move the panels into a sunnier spot while you park the RV beneath any available shade. By contrast, having roof-mounted solar means nothing to set up or take down when you make or break camp, and also charges the batteries while you're driving. So each setup has its advantages and disadvantages.
Hi, my fiance and I last summer went to Crested Butte from a recommendation on one of your videos. Just lovely, the road getting there was beautiful and sometimes steep from Monarch Mt. , but the overall experience and camp site we went to just past the town of Crested Butte was nothing short but amazing. We're going back to Denver in the beginning of June, and I was going to ask for any good hiking recommendations near the city you might have? Thanks!
That's fantastic to hear, thank you! Very true, that grade over Monarch Pass is one long and brutal one. However, it's been forever (as in 50 of my 55 years) since I've spent any time in the Denver area, so I'm really no good to you for hiking recommendations around there. Have you tried the AllTrails app? We often turn to that when we're in unfamiliar areas.
Hey Mark, What are my chances of getting any kind of boondocking spot around Moab in the beginning of July? How busy is is it really? From Wisconsin and planning on coming out there but CZcams has me worried it’s just to crazy Busy even for boondocking! Any advice much appreciated! Thanks for all you do, great videos! Every one of them! Karl
Thank you Karl! Spring and fall are the busy seasons around Moab. Early July not so much, because most sane people won't go near the place with that heat. 😉 It can be absolutely unbearable there in July.
This is not related to this video. It I wanted to thank you for wi fi internet video , I realize it was a while ago but I did mine today with Visible and a router. Works great we are off on our first road trip tomorrow .

@@janefletcher3198 just like any cell phone service it depends on where you are, how strong your signal is, your proximity to the tower and tower congestion. It can be wildly different in different locations.
You're absolutely right, Mitzi, those clips were over-modulated. Those clips were filmed on our last night in town and I was rushing to film them before I lost the daylight. At the same time there were dirt bikes in the area, my dog took a dump on camera behind me 😂, etc. and I was stressed by the time crunch, so it took what felt like 85 takes to get those clips right. So I neglected to adjust the gain for that camera, which has a different sensitivity than my usual camera, but didn't have time to re-film them yet again. We usually screw something up each episode.
Moab is suffering from OHV’s. They are an environmental nightmare to the Slick Rock, they are very loud and they are smelly. Residents are complaining and I don’t blame them. We just got back from one week in Moab. Love Arches, Canyonlands and some of the other options. But their downtown area is in a crisis due to road repairs, OHV’s and general traffic issues. Just saying...
We can't disagree, Robert. On top of that we were there during an OHV rally. Fortunately the paving operations north of town appeared to be wrapping up when we departed. Still, things were reasonably quiet midweek.
Interesting change in venue, Marc. Your format on this episode is more like a voyage adventure where you take us along as you go... while explaining the background history. I noticed at the beginning that there were fence lines and cattle crossings close to your boondocking area. This means that this was likely all private ranch land at one point. Now it is probably leased out and the fence lines kept up. How does BLM ended up with the land? Was it foreclosed on or confiscated at some point? Gord
Great to hear from you as always, Gord, and glad to hear that you enjoyed the way we filmed and edited this one. Regarding those fence lines, it's really the other way around. Most BLM lands are leased to ranchers at the same time that they're open to recreation, too. Those fence lines, the cattle guard behind our trailer, etc. were all most likely installed by the ranchers to whom the land is leased. The area is currently grazed, and there was plenty of evidence of that laying on the ground.
@@gorrdd in most places in the West, public land was always public. It all started out public, and what remains usually wasn't bought back, it was just never homesteaded.
@@gorrdd that I'm not sure, although I would imagine in many areas that's the case. Keep in mind that the areas I'm talking about are from the Rocky Mountain states to the Pacific Coast states, the areas know as the Intermountain West.
I found your EXACT camping location and have added it to "My Maps" UTAH Campsites So if we do end up around Utah. we will explore this area.
@@miketomas8564 it's also useful to see at a glance the holes on the map where we have yet to go.
Those were a couple real nice excursions. We are going to have to check this area out in the future.
Thanks for sharing!
Ram
👍🏼👍🏽
And thanks as always for watching, you two!
Great video! Sign me up friends
Hey Mark,
What are my chances of getting any kind of boondocking spot around Moab in the beginning of July?
That's great to hear, Jane! Glad that it worked out for you, and have a safe and enjoyable trip.
I some too soon , we couldn’t get any TV , streaming of course. Everything looked good I just don’t understand in the driveway it was perfect. I guess I will have to give this idea up
@@janefletcher3198 just like any cell phone service it depends on where you are, how strong your signal is, your proximity to the tower and tower congestion. It can be wildly different in different locations.
Fully enjoyed this video! The audio was a bit distorted when you talked though. I think your volume was a bit too high. Thanks for sharing.
👍👍
Summer weather? Winter?
Winters will often go below freezing at night and snow is possible. Summers can be unbearably hot. Spring and fall are prime seasons.
@@GrandAdventure Thanks Marc... I wonder what the history was of private vs Government land going way back.
Gord
@@gorrdd in most places in the West, public land was always public. It all started out public, and what remains usually wasn't bought back, it was just never homesteaded.
@@GrandAdventure Marc,
I'm curious... so, were all these huge private ranches amalgamated from much smaller homesteads?
Gord
@@gorrdd that I'm not sure, although I would imagine in many areas that's the case. Keep in mind that the areas I'm talking about are from the Rocky Mountain states to the Pacific Coast states, the areas know as the Intermountain West. Places like Texas were populated in an entirely different manner.

In your opening statement. Please turn down the gain in your personal microphone. Sound levels are high, a bit unpleasant. Thank you for your videos.

Not a lot of shade eh.
Nope, not a lot of shade anywhere in Utah unless you go to elevation, which really isn't a good option this early in the season.
How are you doing master Marc actually the USA have great history amazing nature it’s impossible for us to travel there even before global pandemic may god end this misery soon amen but CZcams channel and internet making us as university students or tourist around world in 24 hours some internet users to watch movies or listening to songs but some.
