  • This customer was referred to me by a a local shop. He is a buddy of mine who had no time to get involved. Apparently this Dodge Dart Turbo has been an ongoing problem. Before the referral, the owner said he was at a number of places who refused to work on the vehicle. I honestly am not sure why. It is only a few years old. In any case, we got to check it out for him. Not a fan of these vehicles, Turbo or not, it should not be called a Dart. Come see what happened.

another beautiful diagnosis that demonstrates how a professional goes about finding the root cause. again, knowing how the circuit operates is key. you didn't have to run down each DTC. Instead you used wiring diagram to find the most likely cause and then used visual inspection to locate the problem. damn it looks so easy when you watch a professional do it. how many Diy or hack mechanics would have chased this down the rabbit hole and most likely would have fired the parts cannon hoping to get lucky. this is why I watch you channel. really nice work Joe. and thanks, for sharing this with the rest of us, i really appreciate you taking time to demonstrate these basic diagnostic principles again. stay safe and thank you

    Good video, excellent troubleshooting process.
I have a 6.1L V8 and a 1.4L Turbo Dart. No the Dart does not go fast. It's okay for the 35 to 38 MPG it gets. That CAI, Intercooler Lines, a small adjustment to the wastegate, and an exhaust reduce the Turbo lag a lot. There was a huge amount of hesitation from a dead stop that is gone now. That lag on the low end was really bad, borderline undrivable.
That kid was misinformed or misunderstood what is possible on that 1.4L Turbo platform. Still, though, better than putting 130k plus miles on my V8.
Thanks for sharing the video and the information!

Awesome video, mine is doing the same I’m going to have to check that now(I don’t have diagrams and I’ve been stingy with the money lol).
On a side not I guess some people like these as a daily that’s still kinda fun. They aren’t fast really but I can hog mine all over town if I want and still get over 25mpg and they have a lot of options you can’t get in a car that size typically.
The dart in the old days and this dart were both economy cars, just back then they had a V8 option. This Dart was cancelled before it got to attempt anything more performance wise. They’d have never put a V8 in it but they did want to make an SRT4 and wouldn’t surprise me if they’d have a V6 version too(Chrysler 200 has a V6 option that’s pretty quick).
No muscle car for sure but a good A-B car.

They can damage your vehicle . I would also like to hear about problems caused from using cheap import bulbs . Vehicles with BCM's might be sensitive to using this garbage that fails to perform to specifications . They may " light " , but the wattage and amp draw could skew things .

      A 2014 Dart 1.4t has 160hp and 184tq while getting a combined 32mpg.
