    I really love all mahogany guitars. My favorite Martin has always been the D-15, all Hogs seems to fit singer songwriters and solo performers very well.

    went to check out the Guilds available at the local shop, from my experience with Martin D15 I expected the whole mahogany guitars to not rock my boat but man what a surprise Guild D20 was! Bought one instantly!

    Guild guitars are amazingly beautiful sounding and beautifully design.... That headstock is so appealing and fascinating!

    I've always loved the warm sonorous tone of mahogany. Guild makes fantastic instruments.

    Guild made great folk guitars. Their mahogany b&s guitars really accentuated the mids. What I love about my D20 is that the bass is clear and strong. It doesn't pretend to be a Martin D15 copy. It is a Guild through and through. No apologies.
    Forget the headstock. It's all abput the tone.

    Thanks for making the video 🙂 I have to agree sir! Guitars are being built better today and the D-20 today sounds better imho than the vintage ones.

    Guild went through some production issues in the later Westerly years until they moved to Oxford. The earlier Westerly-made Guilds were absolutely fantastic and can be had at reasonable prices, and the newer Oxfords are on par as well. I wouldn't be too keen on buying an older Martin without an adjustable truss rod on the other hand.

    Wondering if you can get the vintage sunburst without the pick guard, because I think a fire stripe pick guard would really make it look better

    The old version was the D-25, not the D-20. Eventually Guild started building them with molded backs and stained spruce tops.

    • @KenSwiatek
      @KenSwiatek Před 5 měsíci

      not exactly: The D-25s were arch backs. Solid hog = D-15.

    Chorus built in…I use Santa Cruz strings ❤…btw my first guitar here in CA when I arrived here in the mid 90’s a ThinLine CENT spruce rosewood y the m 20 y last year this D55 was extravagantly fancy but perfect 😢 …00028 is more affordable but I got Taylor 717😅

    I sprayed nitro for years. The environmentally harmful agents can generally be captured using a waterfall air filtration system. Nitro is a superior finish, hopefully it will continue to be used.
