    Do you prefer castles to be left as ruins or would you like to see more restored castles like Haut-Koenigbourg and Pierrefonds? 🏰

      Depending of what left from the ruins and the possibility of rebuild. But for me most of these castles knew multiple transformations in their time. Why not restored some of them and give them a new live instead of the look of a romantic ruins painting of the 19th century. Between Pierrefonds and Guedelon it's a lot we can do. Thank you again

    A stunning restoration. A score of 10! I am amazed it survived the two world wars unscathed. Thanks for filming this, it sounded and looked like a wet day for you.

      The real rain started when we left thankfully! (The intro was shot after we visited 😁)

    If we have any friends who don't have an active imagination to appreciate the basic unpreserved ruins types of castles, we can bring them here where no imagination is necessary! Yes it's definitely a 10.

      Well said! Would love to have seen with our own eyes what this castle looked like as a ruin and if it matches what we see now.

Merci!

      Bonjour chère compatriote ! Merci pour votre commentaire, nous sommes heureux que vous l'ayez apprécié.
      La vidéo a été tournée en mars, donc plutôt des couleurs printanières qu'automnales :D

    I visited it for the first time more than 50 years ago in the winter I was 7 years old, some cousin from Saint Hipolyte the village down under, was the guardian. It has changed since. I always dream they restore some of the castle you visited like this the fist will be Saint Ulrich. What is your arbitrary subjective top five which restoration the castle of all the one you visited in Alsace? Thank you so much for your video. Time for you to have a nice Choucroute and Riesling

    • @TheHistoryHikers
      @TheHistoryHikers  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hmm Saint-Ulrich restored would be great to see, but at the same time we also love visiting ruins. A top 5 is a little difficult, but top 3 castles in Alsace we would love to see a restored version of: 1) Saint-Ulrich, 2) Landsberg, 3) Ochsenstein. At the same time we'd love to visit Haut-Koenigbourg in its ruined state too 😅.

    That was a wet start... ha ha. The castle almost looks like one in a video game, or a film set, very strange. The murals and the stained glass pieces are very pretty. I am not sure about the political agenda behind the reconstruction of the castle. Also, I have never been there, and it is always very different in real life. So for now a 7 (for the castle itself, not the video, it's great to go on virtual castle tours without getting wet XD ).

      Let you in on a little secret: it started raining after we visited, we shot the intro after our visit. 😁 Hope you get there one day because it is definitely a great one to experience yourself!

      It's already decorated, so shouldn't be too long... You liked medieval armour, weapons and a room full of antlers right?
