  • Heat Replay of Jack Robinson vs Mateus Herdy at the Corona Open Mexico presented by Quiksilver Semifinals
Fifteen years after one of the best events in WSL history, the Championship Tour makes its much-anticipated return to Barra De La Cruz and one of the most perfect right point breaks in the world. While the last event here was a novelty Search event, this year’s contest brings real gravity and stakes. As the second-to-last stop on the schedule, all eyes are on the WSL Final 5. Some surfers have already clinched their ticket to the World Title-deciding event at Trestles, so there are only a few precious spots left. Who will seize them?

Herdy was way underscored ! I am a fan of Jack, and he definitely got better waves in that heat but it should have been way closer. Mateus and Rio were very impressive in this event. Great to see!

Came down to wave selection. Mateus definitely needs to work on that cause he was picking the worst waves

The wave has been such a big part of the score this whole year and it honestly confuses me. Just makes the surfers actually surf less and makes it more up to luck than actual skill.

@@nottherealChickenJoe just how it's always been. I think it's right that the judges don't throw massive scores at flicky airs on shitty waves. Wave selection has and always will be a massive part of surfing

Herdy won that! But judges can't accept that a wild card can be that good! Way for stylish on the flats plus surfing high risk and landing them!

how i hate how going up and down in a wave gives you a better score than a freaking air! few surfers on earth can do an air and every surfer on earth can carv a wave. So dumb

You are very wrong , airs will never replace “on rail”committed surfing , it’s why , for example so many young teen kids now can do air revs before ever learning full rail and correct barrel surfing- jack robbo has both ... herdys rail surfing is still a little on top of the water and not yet Tour ready - likewise raaida

@@nicolasdavies4129 that's not traditional surfing, and I'd like to see you pull out a john john power hack if it's easy to do. Reading a wave well and doing huge turns and hacks on critical parts of the wave with flow will always be 10x better than flicky airs on shitty waves
