    I patted a lalafel before but then it told me "I am married" and another much larger and black lalafell approached me with a huuuuuge sword and said "wtf why are you touching my wife?" and I am like "I didn't know I know I know I didn't! sorrr y sorry sorry" and then they made a gutteral screech a swarm of other lalafells quickly surounded me and started to hit my thighs and two of them each spanked one of my cheeks and I was very afraid and told them I wished to apologize and they stated I ought to sacrifice myself to the ash father and I have no idea whoever the fuck that is and now I don't pat lalafells no more.

Though, in a situation like this, there’s really no need to put an icon on the MT because there won’t be too big of a crowd around the tank when a tank buster comes. 😂

    I think LB is confusing for some people still I hope someone makes a video about it but.
    Limit breaks generate the fastest when...
    Doing critical damage, players take damage, being healed from critical HP (10% and lower) and when interrupting flashing cast bars.
    The more damage you do the faster enemies die, the less limit break gets generated.
    This is because limit breaks are a way for parties to "catch up" or complete boss mechanics that require a tank LB.
    The LB potency hierarchy is as follows:
    Melee DPS > Ranged Caster > Ranged Phys
    -Ranged phys can obviously hit a group that's spread out in a line further than caster (54% of melee potency)
    -Caster ranged has the closest potency to melee and a sizable radius in a circle (60% of melee potency)
    -Melee is single target but has the highest potency and should always be priority on bosses
    Limit break 2s have a 2.2 multiplier, making them significantly higher in damage and limit break 3s are a 3.5x all limit breaks scale from LB 1
    Make sure to prioritize Limit breaks in the order of their potency, use limit breaks if the dungeon is taking a while or if your party is struggling.
    Use limit break when you would otherwise be wasting it (when the bar is full but there is still a lot more to do in that instance).
    Gauge the boss health bar to determine when to use limit break 2, if the boss is dying fast then use limit break immediately, if the boss spawns mandatory adds, use caster or ranged limit breaks to defeat them quickly.
    A side note, limit breaks scale off of your party's weapon ilevel, using lb 1 can sometimes be a DPS loss in the wrong situation.
    LB 3 and LB 2 can also be DPS losses when used in the wrong moment, having long cast times means less time to do damage and position correctly to avoid mechanics.
    Using a DPS LB 3 at the wrong time can also result in a wipe if used too early when a healer or tank would have been more beneficial.

    I think a very important one that wasn't mentioned is making sure you're using food and the right food for your class when going into high end content in party finder. While it's not totally neccessary in some prog situations the extra max hp is very helpful and makes your healers lives so much easier. It especially is important when the fight has a dps check or high outgoing dmg. Having played this game a lot I've seen too many die barely to not having food

  • @khellaszone
    @khellaszone Před 11 měsíci +11

    so just a correction regarding the damage part, you can't indeed know how much is damage someone is doing without ACT, but you can always know if they were doing enough damage or not but looking at their aggro number, for example, if I play as a healer and find myself (in a boss fight not trash of course) lower in the aggro list number which is displayed, I point out nicely that they may need to check their skill kit, I did actually end up teaching a new SAM how to use their job properly once before during a prae run and they were very welcoming to that, the whole point is that you can tell someone that they aren't doing "enough" damage and not be a douchebag about it, and if you are not willing to teach them then just it would be better of not to say anything then.

    • @StingcatKnight
      @StingcatKnight  Před 11 měsíci

      interesting, arent some classes just naturally have more aggro?

    • @khellaszone
      @khellaszone Před 11 měsíci +5

      You do build aggro when you spam a lot of heals as a healer as well, hence why sometimes the trash can target you instead of the tank, but I have ever only encountered this during trash pulls myself, in dungeon boss fights for example you as a healer should always be the 4th, while it depends for dps jobs normally a melee should be 2nd and ranged should be 3rd, but that if both dps with these respective roles are really good with how they play their classes (except for BLM if the user is reaaaallly good with it lmao), other than that it doesn't really matter, as long as a dps higher in the aggro list that means the boss dies faster.
      it is not as accurate as an ACT of course since we have skills like skirk that can mess this up if applied on any role other than tank, but still a decent indicator in casual play at least.

    I know what you *meant*, but I love the irony of saying "always tank North" and showing a clip where you are technically tanking "West". It's clearer to say always tank opposite to your party, or pull the boss and then walk through it to the other side.
    The first person to turn on the stance being Main tank is a good rule of thumb, however if you're fully melded high ilvl and not level sync'd, you might find that even if you don't actively try, you steal aggro from the MT, at that point, might as well just remain the new MT. After all, no Normal diff content has *required* tank swaps, and in anything higher than extremes or savages you'll most likely have agreed to which tank you'll be before pulling (and *hopefully* not have such a large ilvl difference that it matters)

      On a healer, use it on the boss. That way, even if you've had to swap targets to heal, you can see how much your DoT timer still has on the boss and, more importantly, see what abilities the boss is casting and when they go off. SUPER important if you ever start doing Extremes or Savages to know what the boss is doing all the time, since some of those you really have to recognize the ability and start moving to the safe spot while the cast is still going.

    I do want to clear up the misconception that no one ever uses the raid finder for end game content. People do absolutely make use of it over on the JP DCs. Queues are bustling on Tuesday reset for savage reclears, but it definitely dies off later in the week where your best bet is to then use party finder. Extreme queues are always populated since you can farm them, and Unreals to a lesser extent because people only want to run them twice a week but a lot of players still do those.
    It's a culture difference that I've come to appreciate for it's convenience in letting me queue to farm extremes whenever I want. I can just requeue on the role that is mostly in need instead of committing to whatever role I join as in a party finder group.

    As far as reviving people; as soon as you get to the HW area, you can pick up Astrologian (AST) at level 30 and it has a raise. If you have EW, at level 70, you can pick up Sage (SGE) and it has a raise. So if you mainly play a tank or DPS Job, you an still get a raise that you can use if you ever find a KO person and want to help them out by swapping to the AST or SGE (if it's safe to do so/there aren't high level enemies right there that will kill you) to help out.
    Not sure about the Limsa thing, I avoid Limsa, though I've noticed Hunt Trains occasionally someone will mention it. I think it's because /yell chat is yellow (hence pee) and /shout chat is not, since it's orange. People use /y for shorter range discussions, though, like when people were waiting on Chi to spawn in UT but didn't want to spoilers the zone for people still running the MSQ the first time.
    Jump safe spot is super important. It's easier to hit jump a few times than type a message like "Safe spot is at [playername/locationrelativetoboss]". Just easier to quickly jump a couple times, and by the time you'd type out the message, most of the time, the mechanic/attack will have already gone off and it's too late.

This behavior is against the FFXIV's TOS and it's pretty obvious when you're doing it, so I would heavily recommend against doing that. You can and will eventually be reported for it. Once the boss is pulled, if you're not still watching the cutscene, you should be helping your party with fighting the boss regardless of whether the person who pulled it was being rude by doing so.

      I imagine that's why they changed Castrum and Praetorium. Back when the cutscenes were skippable and it was 8 man, fuck you if you were new and wanted to enjoy the story! They'd rush off as fast as they could absolutely ruining it for new players.

      @@Someone_3lse You don't seem to understand. No shit you can clear most normal content by just doing it, that's all incredibly easy, frankly too easy but that's another story. Problem is when you get patnered up with most long time FFXIV players. Don't pull the entire dungeon? They'll force you to. Step down the wrong path for two seconds? Their impatient ass will ignore you and rush into the next pack. Not playing perfectly? "Hey would you like some tanking tips?"
      You have to study each dungeon as you are essentially expected to speedrun them. You MIGHT get away with a normal run if you're new to the instance, otherwise forget it.

It’s never gonna change. JP however takes things slower. It’s really just a culture thing. You shouldn’t have to study on dungeons or any non extreme+ content unless ur really struggling. All in all if you play on a non JP server and are doing casual content, people are gonna want to go fast. If you don’t like it the just don’t tank tbh.

      Eh... if the off-tank keeps an eye on the party list, they can toggle their tank-stance on/off during the fight to ensure they stay in the number 2 spot.
      Thats what i do when im playing a tank with a friend who mains tank. I'll toggle it on for like 4 attacks, then turn it back off, then watch the agro-bars/numbers in the party list as the fight goes on. Then if i see someone in the DPS/healer group starting to fill up their agro bar, i'll turn it back on for another 4 or 5 attacks.

    Nah man always give the commendation to the healer, unless the healer sucked. Then, give it to the tank, especially if the healer died mid boss and the tank managed to pull the team through regardless.
    Exceptions: If the DPS was funny or friendly and the others were dead silent, or if a RDM or SMN raise saved the party from a wipe.
    Also, if your DPS initiates aggro and you're the tank, let them die before you reclaim aggro. Only exceptions are if the innocent healer starts taking aggro trying to heal the impatient DPS, in which case save them, or if it's obvious the DPS didn't actually mean to pull. Make sure the DPS was one of those people that just like to initiate assuming the tank will come by and save them. Teach them they are wrong.
