I believe Seattle started 3-0-0 in their first season too in 2009. St. Louis is the first team in MLS history to win three come from behind games in a row to start a season and the first expansion team to win two of their first three games on the road.

Damn, credit to St. Louis. Are they going to be MLS cup contenders?
StL don't play particularly attractive football. But, they don't panic. They don't flinch when they concede. They're patient and persistent enough to get goals by any means. And they've won away matches at two of the most challenging parks in the league for visiting clubs.
They ought to have the league's undivided attention. They're a manager's nightmare to face... a team that won't give up and knows how to win.
Their midfield play is 🤌🤌 the strikes aren’t pretty but the passes are gorgeous, and they always know where their teammates are
Personally I think they do play an attractive form of football. Their style isn't quite as chaotic as people assumed it would be. They have some great multipass build ups through the midfield (prime example is the play leading up to the handball against Charlotte).

I allow for variances of opinion. A) I'm an amateur and a fan; ergo, my opinion doesn't mean much. B) Winning has an aesthetic quality unto itself. If you do it consistently, it's not luck. C) I'm a very spoiled Celtic FC fan. Without claiming they're a European elite (recent continental performances confirm they are not), they do indeed play beautiful, layered, elegant football - especially through the midfield and attacking third.
On the other hand, when I look at StL, I don't see quite the sharpness or the quickness of pace. I believe the announcer described Knauss as "a baby giraffe getting out of a car". Spot on observation. But somehow, he makes it work and lets his physicality do the talking. Who the hell am I to argue with results?
I'm of the personal belief that a number of MLS clubs would give Celtic a difficult time for any number of reasons - most of them due to stylistic mismatches. I'm not prepared to say StL is one of those clubs... Yet.
But, I don't say they're not, either.
@@kentgrady9226 (for context im a stl city fan) a lot of our organizational philosophy is centered around not caring so much about possession, but rather keeping the ball in good areas and then pressing our shape up to force mistakes with a very active press.
It really suits Klauss well because he is encouraged to use his work rate and physicality to harass opposing backs and make it really uncomfortable for teams to try to play it up into the midfield areas.
Obviously we can't rely on free gifts for goals all the time like in our first two matches but it's clear our style is at least making teams uncomfortable in their own third

This is why the rest of the world have relegation/promotion on their leagues. New teams brings new dimensions, new styles of play, new atmospheres etc rather than having the same teams forever.

The ingredients are there for another terrible year by the Timbers, a very sub-par defense, a terrible striker roster, aging players supported by inexperienced players not ready for prime time. Top that off with a lack of cohesion and team skill and you'll see fans chose other activities on game night as the torture of watching the Terrible Timbers becomes too much.
Mora, Chara, asppria all injured, once they show up timbers will be completey fine

@Andrew C new teams brings different plays and dimensions into the league. This team is a good example of that. Unlike having same teams forever. The relegation battle is also as exciting as the championship battle.
I think eventually they may have it but rn there aren’t enough teams to sustain it. I think as the add more and more teams etc they might get.
But you also have to think of the culture of the United States, will some of those smaller sixties be able to support a full franchise, will fans show up if there team isn’t in the top division?

It’s soccer here, and “tie” is a term used in American sports (which the MLS is) to refer to an equal score. Despite that, I agree, the commentary was awful.
