    In this episode, I try to revive a abandoned 1985 Honda ATC 70 three wheeler, I found this relic in the back yard of a local man, who listed it months ago without a picture, I was able to track him down, and he still had it, we made the deal and the rest is history, Will it run? lets find out.

    I remember getting a brand new 1982 model for my 9th birthday, dad stopped on his way home from work and paid for it, $660 out the door, came home and picked me and mom up, took us for surprise trip to the Honda shop, had me ride it around the lot, I was like a pig in 💩 riding around that lot, dad waved me over to the truck, him and salesman loaded me and the trike into the truck!! Almost cost him his marriage, especially after month or so watching me tear up the yard and we went to the Yamaha shop and brought home a 1983 225DXL, only because 200x’s had six week back order, and that led to some of my best memories growing up, me and dad “going riding” down at the state park couple times a week, for couple years til little sister came along…. Oh the memories!! Love what you are doing, would like to try my hand at it too, just too broke in a rut working as a paramedic!! Good luck on the run to 10,000!! Thank you!!

    Great video brother!
    I recently picked up a 1983 Honda 70 for $150 and my boys and I just got it running at Trike Fest 2022!
    It’s a fun little guy!
    The price went from $150 to $1000 just for getting it running with an oem carb and I also went around Trike Fest and found oem fenders at a great price!
    I believe I’ll be holding on to mine and do a full restro on it to make it look just like my 86 250sx.
    Thanks again MRC Builds!
    You’re the best brother!

      @mrcbuilds  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Jason, Sounds like you had a great time at TrikeFest, I have to get up there one day. Yes these little bikes can add up quick, but they are so much fun, like their bigger brothers tank, seat and fenders is where the money is. I just put a new seat on mine, I am thinking of holding it till Christmas, the sell even better then.

    Its amazing 37 yrs old a few tweeks fires rite up. I remember back in the early 90s spring cleanup people would clean there garages and barns they'd throw them away on the side of the road I'd drag them home fix them up and sell them for a profit eventually had enough money to buy a 350x those were the days before the internet alls we had was the bargain news those were the days. Great video keepem coming I always enjoy..

      Thank you Danny, yep I think it's a little harder to find them now. The internet let's us cover more distance faster in that regard. I treat each one like it's own puzzle, it's my job to figure it out. The real challenge is not to spend to much in the process. Thanks for watching.

    Fantastic!!!!!!! As soon as the vid started I wrote down $300 is what you paid for the little guy, not far off. Right in the middle of the vid I got a call from Harvey about a 200x piston I picked up for him plus more info about a Honda Rancher with a plow going up his way after I finish it. Now the seat base looks like all the triangular tabs are rusted off so attaching a cover will be tricky. Try to hold the foam and cover in place and use self tappers, or mount a plastic base seat directly to the metal one. Or trim up some foam to fit the base, hold it down with shrink wrap and use a generic cover with elastic around the edges to hold it in place. High density foam is preferred but if you use normal furniture foam make it three tines as thick and compress it with shrink wrap. Didn't mean to ramble on but I get caught up in the excitement of so many things involving machines going on at the same time, I run until I'm completely out of gas then crash. Great vid.

    Man you explained that extremely well, I bet there is people out there that have Atc70s that haven’t run in years and that is the problem and they watch your video they can fix it, I’ve had 3atc70s and it was always the points or condenser. Looking Thu the flywheel isn’t easy ether. I’ve seen people have a extra flywheel cut the center out to set points, I’m so lucky my 86 trx70 is cdi. And the Atc70s look good with a 110 tank to.

    Funny thing with my son's '82 70 : after sitting for say 3 or 4 weeks it wouldn't start. Checked for spark; no spark when touching the head but spark would jump across when not touching the head (holding plug about 1/2 in. away from the head). With a new plug she starts right up. This is the second time we have experienced this, just wondering if you've seen this before. I think the bike is running a little rich and maybe its carbon on the plug. Haven't heard anyone mention this occurance before. Really great video, I want to check / adjust the valves on the bike. 👍🙂

    So I got a couple of ATC 110s. Having a real hard time getting them started. Going to check compression and the valves tonight. My question is how much compression should I have to run and what should the valves be gapped at?

    • @mrcbuilds
      @mrcbuilds  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi RJ compression need to be 100psi or better to be a good runner, the valves are set at about 8 thousandths. I set them by hand, I want the adjusters just barely touching image a piece of paper sliding between the adjuster and the valve.

      @@mrcbuilds I’m having a weird issue. At first I only got spark if I flipped the kill switch on/off while pull starting. So I cut some of the coil off and rested it on the engine to see if it would get spark and I was getting spark Everytime I pulled it. So I put the cap back on the coil and now I’m getting now spark again. How can the spark disappear when I put the cap back on the coil?

    • @mrcbuilds
      @mrcbuilds  Před 10 měsíci

      @@tee_sin342 sounds like the wire or the or the little post on the coil is not making contact.trim you wire again, make sure the little post in the coil is inserting the wire. And try again. Other things to check. The green wire at the coil is the main ground on that part of the harness. Make sure it clean and making goos contact. Next chech your plug, make sure its incerted in the metal clip in the plug boot and not just beside it. That does happen.

      Hi Stephen, I am not familiar with that bike. Do you have the manual for it? always start there, do you have voltage coming out of the stator? disconnect the kill switch completely. is the engine in time? I assume its a points system, are the contacts open at TDC and closed all the rest of the time? are they clean? Have you ran a compression test?, have you adjusted the valves at TDC?
