      I was very disgusted by the first task, which was a disadvantage for short athletes. If that is the way France and the IOC operate, I think she should never compete in the Olympics again. It's so unfair.

    A very enjoyable "post game wrap up" t/y. Only three steps on the podium but all eight finalists champions in my book.
    Like all or most anyway I had a favorite but honestly cheered each young woman on; all so admirable. A very enjoyable but tense
    watching ecperience ;-). Couple bullet points if I may ...
    - Janja truly has a champion's heart - there's something about the greats that sets them apart, she has it. They rise to the occasion,
    it's their element, embracing the moment, seemingly almost daring pressure to a contest, and pressure blinking first, usually ;-) Bravo Janja,
    I do NOT like the term but yes ... GOAT.
    - Ai Mori on W3 imho was the climb of the comp, it WAS an amazing attempt, especially after W 1 & 2 for her so difficult AND all before on 3 unable to score high. She's such an enigma so tiny so fragile-looking, so expressionless but WHAT determination! Petite as a kitten but the heart of a lion. We love you Ai!
    - Erin McNeice. What a joy to watch and cheer for. Never hearda her before the last WC until the OQS and podium-ed it, then both qualifiers too. Of course she was a longshot in Paris but I actually thought she might earn a podium spot again! You're a champ young lady. Bravo!
    - Bravo for Jesse Pilz. An "old pro" by now for us regular IFSC WCs watchers, usually not demonstrative on the wall, mostly ,"business as usual" her emotional "release" realizing an Olympic medal quite beautiful. (Tho forgive me her, "breaking protocol" going into the audience unformly but that's the Brit in me (& i'm not even English ;-) Okay okay we'll let it slide this time. ;-))
    - Brookie. Ya did it kid. Yer an Olympic medalist AND YOU EARNED IT. Cool but relaxed & confident, and the definition of a winning personality; she's so easy to cheer on. Bravo champ, soak it up and share w/ us please every memory of this Olympic ride, we're up for hearing about.
    - And to Chaehyun, Oceania, & Oriane was a total blast to cheer your climbs on - every attempt you gave all you had - beautiful to see; congrats on being an Olympian sport climbing finalist; what an achievement! Bravo..

      @k4: Yes she did & of course understandably beautiful; just that I think the cool move was a wave & teary smile to them on her way to sit w/ the other girls - who weren't going to step up on the podium.
      A "time & place" kinda thing. I remember a coach telling us, "Act like you've been there before" & also, "Don't rub their noses in it." I like Jesse she's a real pro but her girly thing came out and I love that too! No big. ;-)

I'm so impressed with Janja managing to still perform her best after her injury. I think she is an inspiration to most of the other climbers who shared the stage with her. Janja stated in her recent interview that she has trouble remembering the Tokyo Olympic win's details, because of what a rollercoaster it was of first-time pressure for her on that Olympic level. Something tells me that her repeating that gold, but this time with a finger screaming at you to give up every step of the way will make this one far more memorable. Managing that kind of a feat despite such an injury...without a doubt the mentality of a world champion and thoroughly earned. Still, happy for Brooke and Pilz who both got medals after failing to podium the first time around and congrats from Slovenia here to all of you from the UK too for getting your gold from men's. This one was a nail-biter for us, to be sure. :)

    It was the first time I had seen a Climbing competition and I thought it was not a fair sport.
    In Mori's first task she was unable to even start due to her height, which resulted in zero points.
    Of course, I don't think there is such a thing as a completely fair sport, but this seems a bit terrible.
    Isn't there a problem with setting up a route where you can't even start? I think so, but is this a common occurrence in Climbing?

    • @xstream_secretz
      @xstream_secretz Před měsícem +7

      If you would look back to it in slow motion and be familiar with climbing you would notice that it was in reach, she just didn't execute the move well enough. Her leg was not fully extended and she did not make any vertical height. The routesetters know very well what's doable and what's not.

      She didn’t have enough leg power to jump. The starting foot hold was such that you can step on it at the right height for you and jump up. Ai has faced unfair setting before, this isn’t one of those occasions, and at some point her fans have to face that she has a glaring weakness she has not made any improvements on at all in the past few years

      @@charlesee1981Brooke is only 5:01 1" taller and had no difficulties. Not unfair, it's just that different athletes have different strengths. That's why some succeed where others fail in certain problems, then the reverse may be true on other problems.

      これはジャンプ大会でも、高飛び大会でも無い。競技のスタートさえ、できないようにするセッターは、たまたま偶然にコースを設定したのだろうか? 第4ステージを見てみろ、彼女のテクニックが素晴らしい事がわかる。世界的にも天才クライマーと格付される森選手が0ポイントとなるステージなど、明らかに異常としか言いようが無い。もし第1ステージのセッターがまともで有れば、森選手が金メダルとなっていた事は確実だ。

    Is the winner really happy? It's full of ratial discrimination. French course setter placed first holdstone beyond Moris height purposely.He is racist obviously. French should know Japanese become scorn for France for this.

    • @ukclimbingofficial
      @ukclimbingofficial  Před 28 dny +4

      Firstly, not all the setters are French. In fact, only one is - and I'm not even sure it was them that set that problem. Secondly, you are aware that Ai is almost exactly the same height as Brooke?! The issue isn't height, it's one of specialisation. Ai is a lead specialist who's weaker within bouldering - particularly when it comes to dynamic moves like that, which is why she struggled. It's got nothing to do with racial discrimination.
