Nah it's not when you are driving it. I've had one for 10 years and infact find it a lot easier. For example when need to honk the horn in an emergency, I know the horn is at the bottom. When driving a car from another make or model the horn position changes. Also volume and other menu controls stay still which I prefer .
it is quite weird yes, but i own one, a coupe also (but it's the same for the 4 door version) and after like 1 weeks you just don't really care about it and i found it quite handy for the button you got in the middle when turning you can easily change the sound volume or change the speed limite etc... It's exactly the same on the C5 3rd Generation the middle doesn't turn with it. I like really this unique thing it's not common and everyone ask me about this :D

Make sure you get one with leather seats because the synthetic ones are as weak as piss. That’s total bs. Almost everyone I know who had this car never had any problems with it. They are known for electrical problems but other than that nothing really breaks on it if you do all the changes accordingly and take care of it. My first car was a c4 coupe from 2006. My dad still has it to this day and runs like new. The only thing that I had to change were some electrical connections and wires cause they were faulty(which you can’t really complain about since the car was 8 years old when I changed them) and the oil pressure sensor because it would give errors that the oil pressure is low when in reality it was nothing wrong with it. Other than that the car has the original parts and runs like in the first day I drove it from the dealership. Mine was a 1.6 petrol with 110 hp. I don’t know about diesel but the version I had was more than fine. A friend from work also had the same model as me, except it was a 1.4 engine and he had issues with it because he didn’t changed the distribution when I told him and he kept driving it until the engine was long gone and he had to rebuild the engine. Really beautiful car even today and I still recommend it to young drivers. My wife’s younger sister just got her driving license and I found a C4 from 2007. She fell in love with it and she has no problems with it. I don’t know why this stereotype of them being unreliable was created or where it started from but from my own experience it’s completely not true. Every car brand has issues. But C4’s aren’t among them. Or at least not on the same extent as to buying it and starting to worry about future issues that will cost you big time.
