  • Follow along with Jane as she demonstrates her latest tutorial of a lake cottage surrounded by pine trees and flowers. Using hookers green deep, which is almost black in color, she lays out her painting on the red/orange painted canvas. She then starts adding to the canvas in her negative painting style--the sky is painted last. For more information on her favorite acrylic paint brushes and colors as well as classes for purchase, visit her website JaneSlivkaGallery.com

    To loosen up is such a struggle for me. I need to not take myself so serious and just enjoy the process. Thank you for this demonstration.

    I'm learning so much about loosening up and going for the effect rather than details. Thanks for this wonderful example of how to paint with courage and confidence.

    I can’t tell you how excited I am when you and Jane post a new video! Thank you for sharing your process with us (I’m coming around to the red background). It’s very helpful to know that professionals run into issues, and seeing you solve the problem is very reassuring to us amateurs!

    Love it Jane and I think everyone struggles w prospective. When you layout your subject do you go through the process of composition, rule of thirds, etc. I have to learn to slow down and get it right straight away. I love your paintings, beautiful

    Hi Jane: I wanted to ask you how you get rid of a mistake made at the hookers green stage. I tried painting over the dried green paint using the orange acrylic I had used as an underpainting to tone the canvas. I had to actually block out the unwanted patch of dark green with thick gesso, then going over the spot with the orange paint. How do you correct or eliminate an error

    • @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133
      @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133  Před 8 měsíci

      I usually just let the paint completely dry, and then i paint over it. I don't try to make it orange again. You should be able to cover the green if it is totally dry.

    • @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133
      @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thank you! I don't have a favorite canvas size, but I love to paint on bigger convases because it tends to make paint looser. 3'x4' is a fun size for me.

      @antoinettesalamone4338 Před 3 měsíci

      @@freedomofacrylicswithartis5133 yes i quickly realized that your style of painting works best on larger canvases after trying my first one on an 11x14 lol. Those large ones are so $$$$ though ! 💕

  • @kathys7283
    @kathys7283 Před 8 měsíci +2

    This is an embarrassing question. How do you not end up with paint all the way up the bristles? It sounds like you are really laying down paint, so not really being gentle. It's it the quality of the Princeton brush, or ........?☺️☺️
    So thankful i found your channel!

    • @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133
      @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133  Před 8 měsíci

      I am so glad you found my channel. I don't know the answer to your quesiton. I load a lot of paint on the tip of my brush. Maybe that's the difference. Also, I do love my brushes and using Liquitex heavy body acrylic paints.

    Beautiful but may I suggest not having the camera so close for long periods of time, it's hard to see the whole movement of the painting. Enjoy watching!

  • @ibolyaborbely7244
    @ibolyaborbely7244 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Thanks for sharing, Jane! It's a lot to learn from you. May I suggest that the camera lady, to refrain from making so many adjustments while she is recording? The image was out of focus frequently, especially at the beginning. Then, at the end of the tutorial, she zoomed in for too long. When you were talking about comparing the two areas - with the green used for the sea only and with the same green added to the flowers. I couldn't compare, because I couldn't see the sea. I appreciate that she is adding valuable information regarding the colours used and such. And I don't wish her to be disheartened. Maybe the camera she uses needs some adjustments before the recordings...Anyway, you are a great artist, with or without those filming errors.
