May I humbly add following points to support your understanding.
1. Nur in this verse was understood as guidance by the traditional ulema and it so happens that Quran is the guidance for the mankind.
This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; (verse 2:2)
2. Quran is protected by Allah in the heart of the Haafiz.
{ إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ }
[Surah Al-Ḥijr: 9]
We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).
Please note the Arabic word 'Haafidhoon' in this verse meaning guards is the same terminology used for those who memorised the whole Quran.
3. Part of the verse light upon light
نُّورٌ عَلَىٰ نُورٖۚ
can also mean the divine Ilham or inspiration from Allāh, that descends upon Quran that is resident in the heart.
Allah knows best.

The worst thing you can do to a child is tell the child to memorize or recite a prayer or book written or inspired by God-Any prayer or book! It impedes the child's critical thinking regarding that book and that child will completely ignore any “ Holes in the narrative.”

What's your own point, go and study, leave him alone, he's walking his path, trying and praying, yours path is to criticize, he's not a prophet, he's not an angel, he's a student of knowledge, he makes mistakes. Your greatest achievement will be that you criticize him, is that the legacy you're walking towards? Get a life, go and study, prepare yourself to meet your Lord, he's not going to be there when you're being ask, you don't gain fame by criticizing others, rather, you become a forgotten man in history.
