    If anyone's doing this on Lollipop, everything is the same EXCEPT that when you reach the "No command" screen YOU NEED TO PRESS THE POWER BUTTON FIRST AND THEN THE VOL UP KEY FOR 2-3 SECS and then let go of both. Cheers.

    It worked faster afterwards for a short time then reverted right back to being super slow again and not usable. THE PROBLEM IS GOOGLE. If you don't use the majority of those apps and want the table fast reset it to factory. Then follow the instructions and start over, when it is complete open about table and check apps, and you'll probably see none. Download what you want and I also included Kaspersky anti virus for android . Most of what Google apps there are will be outdated, just update the ones you want, then have only Google Play and Google Play services. After you get what you want from Google play then force stop both play and services, and do not allow any more unused Google apps to install on the table. Google will automatically update and install apps if you don't keep those two apps forced off. The tablet will then run very fast, I ended up with Ring alarm, Kaspersky anti virus, Chrome, CZcams, and Google Play and Google Play Services that I stopped after use to prevent updating and app installs, those were all I needed. now the Nexus 7 table runs as fast as my new one.

    My Nexus 7 2012 had already upgraded to Lollipop so it's still not as fast as it originally was, but this helped a lot. It went from 20 time slower than it originally was (not kidding; apps that used to take 10 seconds to load were needing over 3 minutes!) to only 3 times slower (30 seconds or so for the same apps), so this procedure was a 7x improvement. I'm still going to root this thing and put in a custom ROM soon though...

    Google's explanation is vague and badly worded: "While holding down the Power button, press and release the Volume Up button once."

      O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. 4:171 Qur'an.
      75. The Messiah [‘Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allah and His Books (see Verse 66:12)]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allah does not eat). Look how We make the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth).
      76. Say (O Muhammad to mankind): “How do you worship besides Allah something which has no power either to harm or to benefit you? But it is Allah Who is the All-Hearer, All-Knower.”
      77. Say (O Muhammad ): “O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Exceed not the limits in your religion (by believing in something) other than the truth, and do not follow the vain desires of people who went astray in times gone by, and who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the Right Path.” chapter 5 (75,76,77)
      Hi, I thought I'd let you know what Allah says in the qur'an in regards to his messenger peace and blessings be upon him. All the best.

    This "speedup" doesn't last more than a few days. To really make your N7-2012 run like new, you HAVE to do this:
    1 - Install Android 6.0.1 AOSP from XDA.
    2 - Root it
    3 - Install PARROTMOD (the most important step).
    It is NOT supersimple, but doable. It involves unlocking your bootloader, then installing a new recovery (TWRP), then flashing AOSP, then flashing the root .zip, then flashing parrotmod.
    But, you'll end up with a Android Marshmallow tablet running at great speed! You can also install parrotmod on Android 4.1 onwards (iirc), but if you're going through all these hoops, better to install android 6 already.

    • @drsysop
      @drsysop Před 8 lety +3

      Android 6 isn't made for Nexus 2012. 5.11 is the latest & very choppy best to keep kitkat on it & do not install facebook app, viber & skype as it causes tablet to be more laggy & slow.

  • @mwanning
    @mwanning Před 8 lety

    One note. The very first time you wipe the cache, it takes minutes, not seconds. Do not get impatient but let it finish. I didn't and to several hours of trial and error to recovery. So once you wipe the cache - wait. If you ever do it again - then it takes seconds. If you were to totally reload the Nexus from scratch (that takes developers tools), then the 1st time is again slow. So the slow part is normal.

    While stock KitKat 4.4.4 turned the Nexus 7 2012 into an invalid, Lollipop euthanized it. Thanks to Slimkat on F2FS, this 8yr old tablet has got a new life. I have been using it on Slimkat for the last 3yrs as a stand-by device - checking emails, surfing, using it as a remote for Fire TV, etc. No lag at all. The battery life is much better than stock Kitkat. Standby time with screen off and Wifi On is 48-72hrs even after 8yrs.
    Unfortunately, the team at Slimrom.org seems to have deleted the page for Nexus 7 2012 "grouper". Only Nexus 7 2013 is listed.

    How did that lollipop update go? It ruined it, right? Or does this cache clearing trick do the trick and it actually makes it run acceptably fast?

    • @user-kr6vv2yl7g
      @user-kr6vv2yl7g Před rokem

      It may be faster than before if you didn’t do that before.
      But it won’t return to the best state because the disk performance is not enough for lollipop. It has only 20~30 MB/s read speed……😢

Thanks !!

  • @drsysop
    @drsysop Před 8 lety

    This method works well for some 2012 models. DO NOT UPGRADE to Lollipop as it will be even worse. Also Facebook, Viber & Skype apps also cause the tablet to lag even after you wipe cache. Uninstall them apps & you see tablet run well.

      No problem mate. What I did was got a program called Nexus Root Toolkit & then re installed KitKat back but just do not use them apps mentioned above as they eat your memory & cause massive battery drain also.

    This completely ruined me nexus 7. It's stuck on the Google logo start up. Looked it up and everything's basically saying there's no way to solve it. I didn't interrupt the device at all whilst it was clearing the cache so have no idea why it's destroyed it.

    Will this work with my Asus Google Nexus 7 2nd generation ????....... I noticed that the last 2 weeks now after owning it for around 3-4 years it’s been acting slowly and it freezes every few seconds and then plays in regards to when I’m watching videos. There’s way too much lag even when I’m scrolling up and down or swiping. It’s bad !!!!. I checked my updates and it says that my software is currently up to date. It hasn’t had a software update in a long time. I’d say a year or more. Will this same truck be applied to the second generation that I have ?..... also is it because perhaps I caught a virus or someone hacked into my tablet. My iPhone 8 Plus doesn’t do it at all only my tablet.

    1. turn on your nexus 7
    2. go on reboot mode
    3. get a hammer or any other tool
    4.throw your tablet down the stairs
    5. smash it more with your hammer
    6. Tell your parents you need a new tablet because you accidentally dropped it down the stairs
