Debra Hamil tells the officer in an exchange captured on bodycam footage she didn’t want to sign. The cop asks her to step out of the car and tells her she is under arrest. Its only applicable aimed at her. Sign the ticket, contest in court or pay the fine. Signing a ticket isn’t admitting guilt. It’s just a promise to appear/pay, and acknowledging you were explained all this.

@Sandra Clark How did he escalate the problem? The woman wouldn't listen to the cop. A broken light like that could cause a crash and kill people so it was worth a ticket. But she wouldnt sign it and kept refusing. So she was put under arrest and she drove off. Then refused arrest and attacked the officer. It was probably impossible to cuff her without a taser or backup. He did the right thing.

As part of the plea deal, the state dismissed the assault and battery charge. Hamil received a four-year deferred sentence and was fined $50 for each count. The police officer involved in the incident with Debra Hamil was Officer Missinne from the Cashion Police Department.
