We could not recommend more highly our tour guide, Chris. He seems to keep a low internet profile but we were lucky enough to get connected to him through his mom, Susie, who we met working at the oceanfront restaurant Te Moana. Chris lives a modern Chilean life and is well-read on the scientific history of the island, but he also embraces his roots as a Rapa Nui. He speaks the native language, and he has learned to play, dance, and sing to his culture’s music-which he does professionally across multiple countries along the western hemisphere together with his traveling cultural group.
