    Replacing your leaking/blocked heater matrix in your Peugeot 206.
    No need to remove the dashboard!
    It may just be the two sealing O rings, but total cost of parts is £16 for both the O rings and matrix, so why not do both!

    LEFT HAND DRIVE:
    To anyone attempting this on a left-hand drive - according to the Peugeot manual you must remove the whole dashboard to change the heater matrix. Most mechanics will quote you 3-5 hours of labor because of this. It is possibly by way of using a Dremel to cut the corner of the plastic dashboard away, then glue it back together after the job is done. Took approx. 30 minutes of cutting and gluing time. The cut is made in the lower right side by your knees, so you can't see the cut unless you know it’s there. But obviously you will always have some visual damage. The throttle pedal will also need to be removed for access. 15minutes in/out for that.
    (Thankyou to "free4all2" for that info)

      @@PiggyPower Yes - you must remove the throttle to remove the upper most bolt holding the in- & outflow pipes (seen at 8:40). My 206 uses a digital throttle (no throttle cable) it’s just 3 bolts and the throttle switch. All are easily visible and accessible. I don’t know if it’s necessary to remove it if your car has a throttle cable.

    Hi Piggy, a great video clip without which I would have never attempted this repair. A few tips for those LHD enthusiasts. I have a 206+ version, not that its too different from the 206. Remove the panel under the steering wheel and the undo small chassis holding electrical sockets. I used fencing wire to hold the bits up and also the water hoses at the front. The console will bend and let you get the radiator out. And put a new one in :-). I saved oodles of € by doing it myself. Thanks to the video creator!

    • @PiggyPower
      @PiggyPower  Před 4 lety

      Yeah, LHD has those electrical bits in the way. The 206+ isn't any different in main architecture...it's the LHD bit that's different to this video ... Pedals too get in the way a bit!!

    • @PiggyPower
      @PiggyPower  Před rokem

      I never see the benefits to just replacing the seals if I'm honest... As the matrix is so easy to get out at that stage... £6 for 2 seals, £15 for the matrix and 2 seals... But that's just my opinion 😂

      Indeed it's a tight fit... But that's for good reason... Otherwise when the air is flowing, it will just flow around the matrix (taking the easy path) rather than through the matrix resulting in toasty hot cabin air!

    We succeeded. We changed the gaskets that had flattened out,
    we have not dismantled the engine compartment tubes,
    we managed to loosen the screw that was among the
    two tubes and to "play" from the inside
    without pulling everything out. The only thing is that
    we are more successful in putting the screw back
    you see it at 8:03 minute because it does not hook.
    But that's okay.
    We will check in the coming days if the loss has stopped. I spent 60 cents for the gaskets. Thank you so much for this video.

    • @PiggyPower
      @PiggyPower  Před 2 měsíci

      You'll still have coolant trapped. Coolant is far heavier than air so won't be displaced with compressed air alone. It's a nice idea. But a little tub/bucket under the pipes will do the job easy 😊🐷👍

Been quoted by a guy the equivalent of 100 pounds just to 'remove the whole dash, and mounting it back again'. Mine is a C4 citroen 2008, but with the same design almost. I have a 206cc 2.0L and thankfully on this model you can get to the 2 pipes in the engine bay without removing the battery or the air filter pipe - which made it a little easier. My matrix (which I think was the 19 yr old original) only had 1 bolt connecting it to the pipes - so I am surprised it hasn't leaked before - I have fitted all 3 bolts so fingers crossed the seal will be stronger! Someone had dropped a pencil down my ventilation-canals on my Citroen C3 (same as on Peugeot - it even has the Peugeot Lion on it) and this was blocking the airflow-controls. I had bought a inspektion camera - but this was not really helpfull as everything is dark in there.
    I then thought I could see more by removing the heater matrix - but no awail. Finally I deceided to drill first one - then another 20 mm hole from the other side, as I at first really could not see anything - but when I was just about to call it a day - I spotted something like a kind of black tube that was sitting vertical and blocking the aircontrol-wing from rotating.
    With a hook-shaped metal-wire I somehow got it tilted horisontal and I heard what turned out to be a pencil fall down into the matrix-slot from where I could retrive it - and now I could adjust the airflow without any problems and I just had to glue something over det 2 holes I had drilled.
    No need to remove the complete dashboard and the pencil could actually just have been left in there, if I had not already removed the matrix.
