@@FernandoIfillRuiz Honestly, I agree. As a New Yorker living in Yonkers, I also grew up with this theme. It sucks that WNBC ditched this in 2008 after using it for three years.
Not many news theme composers can afford the luxury of having a full orchestra, but this one does. There's simply no way this could all have been done with computers.
Rampage Music did a custom package for select Telemundo stations using the 2000 ident fanfare. WNJU-DT used this package, lasting almost 10 years (2003-2012).
Per James Ryan's website (the composer of this theme), and Glenn Scott Lacey (the orchestrator and conductor), this was performed by the Utah Symphony. You can't beat REAL musicians.
I'd toss KUSA 9NEWS in Denver into this mix, but it will never happen - since they used a company-wide music package and a couple aren't NBC affiliates. For a station set in the majestic Rocky Mountains, THIS music package speaks to that area perfectly!
does anybody have to pay copyright for using this music? because it's being used by the Argentinian government info service called Argentina en Noticias...someoine should check it out...

Other stations that should use this should be Dallas/Ft. Worth NBC O&O KXAS NBC 5, Local 2 KPRC (NBC Houston), NBC 10 Philadelphia. IMO, should've been the official NBC O&O news package
This fucking kicks ass. This was good being WNBC's go-to music for seriousness in news. I miss it so much, damn it!
This was my childhood theme I wish WNBC New York would bring it back.

@@rhapsodyshadow_ Actually WNBC New York started using this theme in either March or April 2003 and lasted until November 2008.
@@FernandoIfillRuiz Ah, I see. So, basically, five years then.
Bullshit!!

I don’t think KNBC Los Angeles ever used this theme ever.

Hello. Ah, yes, the same Glenn Scott Lacey who worked on the “Power Rangers."

WVTM has WNBC graphics before sold to Media General in June 2006.
And KNTV
Beautiful theme
It’s too bad this theme lasted until November 16th, 2008 next day November 17th WNBC debuted a new set, music and graphics as well.
Used for WVTM-TV NBC 13 from February 2005 through December 2006.
I remember watching 4 NY and other NYC stations on cable in the Poconos back in 2007.
@tpirfan, I forgot, this theme should also be on NBC6 Miami (WTVJ) since they used WNBC's 2003 graphics a while back... but I agree, it fits perfectly
It’s too bad that WNBC New York doesn’t use this 2003-2008 theme anymore but it was good while it lasted though.

Proud of it Well being as I am from NY :)
In what month of 2008 did WNBC changed it’s name from NewsChannel 4 to News 4 New York?
I'd love to see the following NBC stations use this theme for their newscasts:
NBC 4 LA (KNBC), NBC San Diego, KING 5 Seattle, NBC 5 Chicago
