  • Whether Missingno. crashes the game or not is determined by the contents of SRAM bank 0. In other words, Missingno. derives its behavior from an unused chunk of data in the save file. By manipulating that chunk of data it's possible to make Yellow Missingno. relatively stable.

    This is actually quite big - you're rewriting Pokémon history. It's a shame that a large bunch of would-be enthusiasts are probably turned off by the ACE and other laborious parts, and are somehow less inclined to think this counts as 'standard glitching'. That missingner tool is super cool, though!

      0:35 is a nightmare on console, normally a dump of garbage/real sound data being transferred from ROM to RAM. Normally 5-10 minutes of garbled noise. He edited out the 10 or so seconds the black screen takes to load the gigantic command, and most certainly ommited the actual noises for our sanity.

      Krossbone Gaming As far as getting a Pokemon to that level, you can do that through a method known as "hybridization". In Yellow, catch a 44Hy, which is on index 192, and level it up anywhere above level 6. This is the easiest and most stable way of getting a Q, but if you already have one, great! Then, put your team in this order:
      A Pokemon that needs very little exp to level up you're fine with releasing
      A random Pokemon
      The Pokemon you want over lv 100
      Your Q
      Then, switch them in this order:
      1) The random Pokemon with the low exp leveling Pokemon
      2) The low exp leveling Pokemon with the Q
      3) Deposit the random Pokemon in the PC
      Beneath the Q will be your hybrid Pokemon, and the low exp leveling Pokemon will be part Q. Take regular Q precautions in dealing with this Pokemon, and take your new hybrid for battling. At some point, it should level above level 100 naturally. When this happens, DO NOT LET IT BATTLE AGAIN. Instead, level it up the rest of the way using rare candies. If it still does not evolve, take it to the day care center, take it out before it levels up, and then level it up the rest of the way with rare candies.
      Hope this helps!
      (NOTE: Allowing an over lv 100 Pokemon to gain any more exp will level it back down to lv 100, and leveling a Pokemon up over lv 255 will level it back down to 0, going all the way back around.)

Was fine right after. The worst that has happened to my game was Arbitrary Code Execution. I got my save deleted because i messed up. But I've never had problems with missingno. My only guess is that the save is old.. When they r old they get corrupted. But idk, yours could be new too. If u save during the super glitch that could mess it up too.

      Katychu Foy The "old save" thing is bogus. All (or almost all) glitch pokemon pulls data from the SRAM. If the data is just right, then it'll be fine. It pretty much is down to how much you mess with the game. The more you save after an intense glitch, the sooner it'll fall.

      Theres a few specifix opcodes thst when ran together put the gba into an alternative mode for sound, when there is no 0xff opcode to terminate it then it will play for a bit, you'll hear weird sounds (like Absorb, or the pokemart ding, or a random pokemon cry off-pitch, etc) because the game is waiting to be told to stop.
      No 0xff means it spills over into buffers and back around, which means it loops forever!

I was wondering if you could show off what these pokemon's "sprites" actually look like, or at least create a script to fix them, if its actually possible and I'm not remembering things wrongly.

    In theory what this Missingno. does to your game isn’t like the how the missingno’s from red and blue act, this one is actually supposed to be #152 because back when PocketMonsters was the games original name and you guys can see the game on CZcams, what happened is, GameFreak and Nintendo were actuallh speaking to the guy who developed his own game which at first was a japanese magazine series called Capsule Monsters, Capsule Monsters aadly never got tl be the name on the official rom itself cause sometimes businesses ask if they can make changes before they release peoples ideas.
    So when Pocker Monsters was created, they wanted there to be a kkds tv show series but that felt cool, Pikachu didn’t like going in its pokeball anymore after ash sent him out, it was to iconize the games unique creatures you’d see and find everywhere in game, Pikachu was not although the original icon for pokemon though as their paper clipped together bunch of magazines self drawn were originally designed with other pokemon, the 1st pokemon ever made or drawm as they put it was Gengar because Gengar looked pretty much like the definition of a scary monster to either capture or kill.
    The beta csrtridges own save file on the file name is NintenSony because Nintendo and Sony were originally working with each other before they decided to split up, cinnabar island didn’t look the way it originally did, instead lf seeming like a small town on an island, it used to be a whole island to explore, sadly though they wanted to make sure that water walls would make for barriers that’d keep players from surfing to far into what’d be a void area that is larger then the games own made mapping, otherwise resulting in a crash.
    Missingno. Looking the way it does is actually a graphical error rendered by the game attempting to show something in game, its not cubon’s mom, its not a toy doll, not mew, mewtwo.
    It;s actually supposed to be Rhydon but since rhe game comes up with w graphically messed up idea for a pokemon with 1 cry, this cry isn’t actually a heard in the retail released games cry anh pokemon makes except for what was at the time a removed beta pokemon (I think 2 or 3 used the cry)
    What happened was that Nintendo said theres a lot lf game content already in the game and these cartridges could hold only half of the ram something like a Nintendo 64 game could be programmed with so to make the game have almost no lag at all, it had to be reduced to 151 pokemon, cinnabar island and other areas although didn’t have small towns in the beta, they a bit bigger.
    Lastly, since Cinnabar was not yet an area known to have a strip of land players surf up and down on to find Missingno. on wasn’t originally there, instead the game originally had an island to get on if not a side to hop off a pokemon from to go over to.
    Taking this into account, what happened was, GameFreak improperly scripted the switching of the players npc data with the Wise Old Man’s temporary data whicj wqw only supposed to show a demo fight, but it wasn’t storing the players npc data back into the game as it should’ve properly done so, as it also allowed for Missingno. to be able to duplicate the amount of X Specials by 255x, by duplicating it twice and going into the city passed the biker gang town (forgot its name) when players would react the last tile that seperates the loading data from after you walk once more into the town that would then play its own areas music after your screen renders kts area and surroundings instead, tossing the first 255x x specials resulted in the inventory didn’t actually toss them, when you reuse the items menu and hold select while going down the list, theres an item called 1f and when swapped with the x special is after you go back to the top where your items are properly listed on the menu, when you close it and walk ahead 7 more tiles but a strait line, when you reopen your menu, you’ll be that theres now an item called 8F and it was along with the other numbers accidentally still left in the game able to found development items that actually scripted the game internally.
    So in short, that’s just wait Missingno. is, a improperly loaded out glitch version of a pokemon that should be able to be seen as a glitch Rydon but isn’t because the wise old mans swapped data being used in the players data accidental scripting flaw which can result in finding missingno as a first pokemon to be a improperly loaded into game bugged sprite.

    I remember trying to fight a missingno from red version on yellow via link battle. It crashed, and then the save file on yellow was permanently messed up. the pause menu and things took forever to load, had to start a new file to fix it.

    In the Delphinix Kingdom Royale series (A.K.A my AU) the Yellow Missingno's that are in the standard glitch form are the non-defects seen in Demonrealm as for the Ghost and Aerodactyl skeleton form ones are being seen as defects... Normally, the non-defective ones would either badly injure or kill their defective brethren, stealing their organs on for the non-defects, if they catch their defective brethren out of disguise... Vesparada, one of my Yellow Missingno OCs, a defective ghost one, luckily escaped via Demonrealm and Sarakota via a portal that goes to Fairyrealm, while being violently thrown from an unknown non-defective male Yellow Missingno, whom stated that she "violated protocol"... After going through the portal whilst being violently thrown, however, both of her legs ended up being broken and she was on the ground in Pharaoh's Forest, laying on the front of her waist... Eventually, she heard some blabbering from Nikki (my first Delphinix/Tulip Dragon Self-Insert OC), Bonnie (FNAF character, but made differently), and Tux (an lvl 80 'M (00)/Iyazo OC), which Bonnie was about to shoot Vesparada with one of his two modified Desert Eagle pistols in the head, threatening of that of a deathly ice freeze, but both Tux and Nikki stopped Bonnie from doing so, Bonnie reluctantly lowering his gun. Then, Vesparada gets healed up by Nikki and Yampa, walking with the assistance of mechanical leg bracings until her real legs actually heal... Sorry if there is a lot to discuss, but it's just some AU things...

    • @princesscarl1656
      @princesscarl1656 Před 5 lety

      That emulator is great, but not for debugging and bugfixing. It doesn't know how to handle the commands the ROM throws at the emulation software and it just crashes in the most convenient way possible par emulation. Cuts the game you're playing out and makes you restart it.

    • @princesscarl1656
      @princesscarl1656 Před 5 lety

      In BGB it doesn't normally do this, will just crash the game or handle it the most accurately it can, and on normal software its very dependent on your luck and the only encounters that don't bug out are the Mew/Ditto IV glitch ones, it can take up to hundreds of tries to get it to activate the correct data banks for this to happen, which are normally bugged out soundbanks that turn the cry into hot garbage, dumping all the code from these banks as well as real sound banks. There are other banks that can be tapped into and thus cause a more controlled encounter, but normally, it's the soundbanks.

    would it be possible to change missingno's front sprite, moveset?

    • @alternatelives8559
      @alternatelives8559 Před 8 lety +1

      +ashton jason In some of my own testing, my answer is... sort of? Granted, I have not the skill that is demonstrated here, but here's what I've found:
      By merging a MissingNo. with another Pokemon (a la the 'Q glitch'), you can change the front sprite. How you do so is based on whether MissingNo. was the donor or the recipient.
      If it was the donor, then the recipient Pokemon will now have the default palette (red/yellow) and Exp equation of MissingNo., but the moveset of the recipient.* This unfortunately is not very helpful, considering Yellow MissingNo. is complete garbage after its first battle.
      However, if MissingNo. is the recipient, things start to get interesting! MissingNo. takes on the color palette of the donor, but keeps its sprite. It also takes on all base stats of the donor, but keeps its moveset and typing.* Most importantly, it takes on the experience equation of the donor, meaning that it will no longer be stuck at level 1.
      And the coolest part: MissingNo. hybrids, as near as I can determine, are not affected by the level cap AT ALL! over level 200 MissingNo.s are legitimately possible! Since experience has a hard limit of 16,777,215, it will eventually roll over back to 0, but MissingNo. will be a viable demigod for a very long time!
      The above only holds true for gameplay that does not execute arbitrary code, as TheZZAZZGlitch demonstrates here. Once you start doing that, you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want if you know the hex addresses!
      *EDIT: I could have these two conditions swapped. Q glitch hybrids are confusing!

    2:19 The GB doesn't have a background color? Weird.

    • @princesscarl1656
      @princesscarl1656 Před 5 lety

      It's display was completely monochrome, and had some color info but did not display it. This is more of an emulation thing than an actual Gameboy quirk, if I remember, this is BGB, and it has the option to display the color as if it was on a gameboy with color (the way it was programmed on computer) and not a gameboy color, which had it's own data for color and even a color correction algorithm if i remember. If you were to play this on 3DS VC, or any decent emulator as of now, the colors wouldn't be so weird and washed out, and be much brighter along with having the proper displays for multiple color values. This is basically just printing the colors that were programmed in, with basic data, since the emulator isn't using the GBC hardware to emulate and pop in colors more correctly and detailed. To be honest, this is pretty cool to see.
