It was raw and primal and honestly rather primitive compared to anything he did before or after. I mean that as no insult; I find him much more impressive as the modern equivalent of a composer than just some boring guitar player. Still, props to Linkin Park for the much deserved respect.

Honestly, I don't think Trent is a particularly impressive singer... Chester is better. But Reznor is arguably the most impressive songwriter since the renaissance.
Eric Haynes yeah I agree, 1 of LP'S strong points is in being unique with their rock, hip-hop and electronic synthetic-ism, but like you say there were a few bands emerging in the mid 80's - mid 90's (obviously NIN being 1 of them) that were starting to do what LP has been doing, although they wasn't necessarily as successful as they should've been, possibly due (in my opinion)to it being the wrong time, needless to say those bands inspired LP to carry on where they left off with the freedom to alter and/or improve their work.
I'm a HUGE NIN fan, way more than a LP fan, but I have respect for them. You can see how Chester was absolutely feeling the lyrics and the madness of Reznor lyrics. RIP legend.

I'm somewhere in the crowd. I'm almost sixteen. I barely speak English. I don't understand anything Chester said. I'm not a true Linkin Park fan at this point, I guess I've never been, I don't really know this is not a LP song. I really love the song though. It's gonna take me two years to finally learn this is NIN. I go on a spree looking for other NIN songs. I eventually buy or otherwise get all the albums thanks to a friend of mine, Year Zero is the last one I get before I move to a different genre. But I remain a huge Trent Reznor fan, following his career, wishing for him to win an Oscar for the Social Network and eventually Mank. Long story short: This Linkin Park performance is not only amazing and respectful to the original, but also brought a young boy into a different genre whatsoever, teaching him there are musicians that deserve to be followed and cheered for. And for that I'm forever greatful.

When I first saw this when I was 18 I hated it. Now that I'm 33 and rewatching it, it's absolutely beautiful and a great homage by one of the biggest rock bands back then to NiN.

I can't quite describe the special nostalgic imprint that Chester and Linkin Park left in my life.. when I was 5 or 6 years old I remember hearing the icy melodic intro to Crawling. This video just incapsulates such a time. This cover is beautiful. Really fits in with their sound, but most of all it highlights Chester's voice. Chester had the rare ability to really put forth his emotions so clearly with everything he was singing. You can seriously tell by the way he sings some lines of this song, that he went through a vast amount of hurt. I had a really bad day today, but listening to this cover, and how Chester wears his heart perfectly on his sleeve, with no fear of how it's taken, just honesty... it's refreshing. It's so human. A heavy heart of his took him away. I love him for feeling things deeply, but will always miss him.
