Join me on a unique journey as I fly with Ethiopian Airlines. My experience begins at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, where chaos reigns at security. Inside the Ethiopian Airlines 777-300ER, the adventure continues. Despite its sleek exterior, the cabin tells a different story - worn and not as clean as expected.
The flight has its share of surprises: a malfunctioning in-flight entertainment system and a leaking ceiling. Despite these setbacks, the generous legroom in the emergency row is a plus, though the absence of a window is a downside.
The food service, surprisingly decent for a short flight, offers a small comfort. However, the real excitement kicks in during takeoff and landing. A go-around due to a traffic alert adds an unexpected twist to the journey, making for a memorable experience.
This trip with Ethiopian Airlines is certainly one for the books, full of highs and lows, and a stark reminder that every flight is an adventure in itself.

Very sad but very true. Ethiopian Airlines is the worst. They want to be Emirates but mainly on their short routes they only use old, poorly maintained and dirty planes. Everybody who says otherwise either did not even watch ur video, never fly ET with Africa or they just are Ethiopian Internet army. An embarrassment for my country and not worth the money at all. 🇪🇹😢 Thank you for showing everyone the truth and don't bother the Internet trolls from my country. Sorry from Ethiopia to you!

During African Colonialism, Ethiopia was one of the targeted country by Fascist Italy. During this time, there were ‘few’ people history remembers them saying “BANDA” which mean an Ethiopian who fights back Ethiopian alongside with Fascist Army🤔. The good thing was that , Fascist army was defeated by honest Ethiopian braves and “BANDA” like you were became ashamed 😂😅.

I flew to Addis back in January and had an excellent experince with this Airline. The beautiful Stewardess were very attentive and the 3 meals they provided were delicious!

@@dmosill I guess on their long haul routes to the west they are doing better because they use new planes like the 787 or the a350. Always wanted to try their business class as well but now that it seems like everyone from Ethiopia hates me I guess I won't do that😅 Let me know how it went.

There are no TSA employees in Ethiopia. TSA is a US organisation.
Not sure walking under the wing is actually strictly prohibited but it strongly discouraged by airline employees and is not a good idea as it is not uncommon for oil to drip from the wing onto people's clothing. It has actually happened to me.
Personally I think that they were out of order requiring the certificate as you had only transited without leaving the airport. What happened in the end? Did you manage to enter Kenya or were you removed to ?
I have never personally flown with ET but in years gone by they had a good reputation.

As an Ethiopian I can certainly agree the quality of the Airline has gone down, especially relative to what I consider a golden age in Ethiopian aviation during the 2000s and 2010s. Having said that though the airline has gone through the lot over the course of the countries history so I have no doubt that it has the capacity to bounce back. I hope they see your video and address your criticisms, thanks for flying with our carrier!

In January 2024 I flew with Ethiopian in economy from London to Victoria Falls and then back to London from Bulawayo, and I found the opposite to you. The internal African flights were fine - both being on 737-Max aircraft. The food was great and no problem with the interiors. The long haul out and back to London were horrendous. Food was terrible on both legs - the breakfast into London was a so called omelette, which was so hard it would bounce - the only time I have not eaten airline food.
As a family (with 2 kids - 15 & 12) we flew with them in December 2019 from London to Entebbe, and the food was good, but their reallocation of booked and confirmed seating on the ADD-LHR leg was not so good - we were spread randomly throughout the cabin - which after a fair bit of complaining we managed to get my wife and children in one row together - but only once on board the aircraft. Another issue was that the bags arrived a day late in Entebbe - we were told that this was a common occurrence.
I will never fly with them again unless they are the ONLY airline flying to where I want to go.
If you can't afford private jet or the least bussiness class, why all these complain?

I would not complain about the G-forces when trying to avoid a collision with another plane, this is life and death and the pilot is not about to slowly get out of the way to make the movements more pleasant to you

Addis Abeba, Ethiopia is eight thousand feet above sea level, it is not an ideal place for yellow fever as yellow fever affects warm and low land areas. The Kenyan authorities have no reason to consider Addis Abeba as "high risk".

I’m flying long haul on Ethiopian from ATL-ADD on the 787 which is 14 hours and I hope it’s better than this flight
Yes, I think long haul will be better. Especially on the 787 and a350 since they are newer.

What an awful experience, with the vaccine saga. I have used ET a few times but with little hitches. The water leakage experience was not good, I hope ET gets that resolved and fast. I hope the foul smell you experienced upon boarding the flight is also sorted out. I hope you had a lovely time in Kenya. Nice video 👏🎬. I had a pretty mediocre flight on Ethiopian Airlines in economy on a Fifth Freedom route from SIN-KUL on a Dreamliner. Seems like they're pretty hit or miss, but I'm guessing that they put more effort into their long-haul flights than short haul.

I feel Ethiopian wants to retire their 777s soon although they haven't made mention of it. But it obvious especially with more orders of the a350s and 777x. Maybe the plans to retire these aircrafts gives them no reason to maintain it as it might be a waste of money. Just saying.

I too am experiencing a terrible situation with Ethiopian Airlines. There was a problem with changing the date of my flight ticket, but there is still no progress on this matter. In the process of dealing with this problem, in particular, the manager and employees working at the Ethiopian Airlines office in Zanzibar are experiencing significant mental suffering due to the rudeness and lack of professionalism. I sent an email to the customer service team at the head office with related information, but there has been no response even after 20 days. Ethiopian Airlines is truly terrible!

I am not sure if this leak has anything to do with that... but currently the profit first mentality of Boeing seems to be backgiring more than ever.
I flew them from Cape Town South Africa to Athens via Addis Ababa, and it was the worst! The food is terrible, and the flight was 2 hours delayed coming in Cape Town South Africa.
I really start to get the feeling from what I am reading in this comment section that their flights within Africa suck while the intercontinental ones operated on newer planes are decent...

I've had so many good experience flying in Ethiopian. How many times did you fly on this airline? I really had a very awful flight on Lufthansa once but also had a good experience on another. Maybe depends on the situation. Why would skytrack ranks EA number one in Africa? there are several other categories like arriving on time, cleanliness . . . Ethiopia has been in the top 5 in all of them.
It's my second flight on them (first was from Doha to ADD). Probably on their intercontinental they offer a better product.
People's idiotic behavior is the number one reason I left that place.

Worst airline, i was going to delhi from Ethiopian airport and they gave wrong boarding pass and i missed my flight and when i asked for the reason they said that everyone missed the flight. And they charged me 280 dollar more for next flight, i didn't even do any mistake i was waiting for the flight which was in my boarding pass. But they said that it's a wrong boarding pass. And they didn't even do any announcement seriously the airline is so worst.

I flew from Bole airport to the USA.
The airport was an absolute disgrace. There was no organization, and everyone was fighting. I've never seen such a slow, lazy, and disgraceful airport staff in any nation in my life. Everytime we went through security it got worse and worse. Nobody would help with anything, I even had one lady push me out of the way. It's almost like they try to make things harder. I had to go through security three times. The food on the plane was disgusting, and I got the worst food poisoning of my life. I spent 24 hours with vomiting and diarrhea.

I flew from Gaborone Botswana to London via ADIS Ababa December 2023. This an over 5 hr flight, with no entertainment. The food was the worst airline I had ever tasted and on arrival in the UK was sick with food poisoning for three days. When the crew had served the meal, mine was ice cold rice and sloppy chicken they went and slept in the business class area. A flight never to be repeated. I sent a complaint to Ethiopian Airways needless to say no reply. I sent an e mail to the airline manager in Gaborone. No reply

@@davo597 Sorry that it seems to harsh. As I said 06:02 it is nothing personl against Ethiopia or your flag carrier. I wanted to fly with this airline for a long time and I was a bit disappointed.. To be fair my expectations were very very high but also I don't see it as a defamation since I only shared my personal experience on thos flight. Everything I say you can see in the video with your own eyes and I did not make any claims that I can't proof.

Their flights are very very shaky, I thought it would fall from the sky. Old old planes , like 70 year old planes , they trust their pilots with these horrible machines. Anything could go wrong please they need to upgrade their planes that go to neighboring African countries.

It's maintenance that matter, you can fly a 50 years old plane as long as maintenance is done properly, you won't have a problem.
