- I love seeing how many people are enjoying eating Korean food! If you've ever eaten Korean food, you've probably tried banchan. Most people think that banchan, such as kimchi, are sides or appetizers. But what if we rethought how we eat banchan? What if we tried all our meals banchan-style? Let's experiment together and see what we learn about how we eat!

This really helps me feel more comfortable with the idea of eating from a Korean restaurant again! The first time I went to one, there were a lot of banchan out, and I got so confused and embarrassed that I didn't know what to do with them 🥺 I'm going to use banchan style to change the way that I eat oatmeal actually, because I can never decide on what flavor I want!!
My favorite banchan is cucumber kimchi! I feel like it's so refreshing but the seasoning still makes it savory.
This was really insightful! Ive always felt weird when my partner would just eat one banchan as a whole meal like a whole bowl of japchae. I realize now, watching this video, that there is an unspoken different eating habit that I wasn't conscious of, but still doing. Thanks for verbalizing what I couldn't - you're the best, Korean Dad!
I love cucumber kimchi! The recipe I have is a bit too spicy for my husband so when he eats it I have to tone it down a little.

My Mom grew up in a Polish household, so she ate cabbage all her life. But when she tried kimchi when we ordered from a local Korean restaurant, she LOVED it with the spice and the brine

My university (before covid) used to have 도토리묵 as a banchan. It's actually one of my favorite foods I've had in Korea.

My favorite kimchi is radish and cucumber kimchi, I love it so much!! I was in the military for a long time. I would eat Korean food once a week and I could never hide it from my husband lol! He’d be 20 ft away and he’d say “you ate kimchi today I smell you!” 😂😂😂 I didn’t care I still would try to kiss him as he ran from me!

My first time at a Korean restaurant I was very lost on all the small side dishes but our waitress was super kind and explained it to my sister and I. It was delicious and how I fell in love with Korean food, my favorite was the kimchi pancake! 🥰

i didn’t even know but i do banchan with my snacks as a kid and still do today! one of my favorite combinations is goldfish snack crackers and fruit snacks gummies! i love the crunchy/squishy texture of both foods and the sweet/salty from both is so good too!!
Growing up, my favorite banchan was always oi kimchi. Lately though, I'm so hooked on turnip green kimchi (especially with tteokguk or just a bowl of rice) or pickled radish with samgyeopsal.
I love all the ones you've mentioned, and I also once got lotus root as banchan, and it was lovely!

We love all of the banchan dishes! Thankfully we have a restaurant nearby called Side of Seoul. They sell all different banchan which gives us an opportunity to eat all different dishes.

My mom used to put some rice and banchan together on a spoon and fed it to me when I was really little. It became a habit and I still eat this way lol 😂 I get to enjoy the food symphony without having to open my mouth with rice in it!

I have seen banchan in so many Kpop idol Vlives and wondered about it. Was it all condiments?! Now I know! I've loved eating banchan-style all my life (tho my parents thought it rude to stuff so much food in my mouth at once!) and now I have a name for it! I am so happy right now! I love this man!

there was always kimchi in the fridge at my house growing up. my favorites are mixing bean sprouts and spinach, and tae gu.
Cheonsachae 천사채 is my absolute favourite banchan!! Second favourite is pickled radish, and then diced radish kimchi comes third, but I love them all a lot!!

Glass noodles are my FAVOURITE banchan. I think I’ve had the spinach too. I would honestly LOVE if you made a video on getting used to kimchi. I feel SO rude going to Korean restaurants and not touching the kimchi.
