    As you guys already know, I love vegetables! It's a norm to incorporate lots of veggies into my own diet and almost eating like a plant based. However when it comes to my kids, it's so hard. I'm always worried if my kids are getting enough nutrients or not. I decided to make a vegan day for my whole family. That's how my family makes a small effort for a better planet. I know it's not perfect but I hope someone can relate to this. Thank you for watching !!

    the sigh of relief to have "survived"the morning rush and get children out the door on time is so familiar to me; i have it every weekday after my daughter leaves for school.
    Thanks for sharing the footage of ameyoko cho and ueno. I used to live in the Yanaka area so I always went shopping every week in either ameyoko cho or on temple days in Sugamo (just between my home near yanaka ginza). It's very nostalgic for me to see and perhaps getting me a bit home sick :)
    The vegan oyako don looks delicious. My daughter has a problem with the gobo so I probably leave that out and add some beans (or put some egg over it to make it more like oyako don; for those vegetarian goba and egg go so well together, you can make a great vegetarian omuraisu with gobo mixed through the rice).

    • @MiwasJapaneseCooking
      @MiwasJapaneseCooking  Před 2 lety +1

      ohhhh I understand how nostalgic it might be for you!! Sorry to bring you a home sick. you have to come back one day! haha
      the sigh ..... lots of parents might relate to this^^ we all don't know how hectic the morning is since we don't have time to stop and think of it. Just non stop! but once the house becomes quiet, the sigh naturally comes out! haha

    To be successful, you have to use each day as an opportunity to improve, to be better, to get a little bit closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work-and with a busy schedule, next to impossible. But the best part is, the more you accomplish, the higher you’ll want to reach

    We... as in me...Americans need to eat more veggies. I am adapting a plant based Japanese diet. Eating veggies and soup in the morning. My go to so far are a vegan begal/whole grain bread with humus and sliced veggies on it with a Miso soup. I can take it to work easy in the morning. I eat a hearty raw greens and veggies salad with nuts and healthy dressing tofu for lunch. I am still eating eggs and fish. So may never be 100% plant based.

Even if people don't live in a big city they can order all their Asian groceries online (including fresh Asian noodles, fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables) at places like Weee Asian Grocery, Lotus Foods Online or H Mart. (They even ship for free for orders over $35). I guess the more people realize this they'll be watching even more - so they can make your recipes for themselves. 😊

    HAHA it's funny how sometimes kids are the same all over the world. I grew up very far away from Japan, but I used to love blowing bubbles in my milk!
    Regarding how you worry whether your kids get enough nutrients or not without meat, there are ways to incorporate foods with the nutrients you would normally find in meat/fish. I'm not vegetarian/vegan either, but I do like to limit my meat/fish as well.
    There are lots of vegetables, fruits and grains which contain protein, iron, omega-3s, iodine etc. The ones that it will be harder for is vitamin D and B12, and you can maybe find fortified plant milks there for vitamin D. What I do for B12 is use nutritional yeast fortified with B12. Have you heard of it? It has a cheesy/nutty taste. :)

    • @MiwasJapaneseCooking
      @MiwasJapaneseCooking  Před 2 lety +1

      yesyes!! I see so many youtuber using it! I've never found one in local supermarket here though. but I found one at imported food store which was way too expensive ... so I had to put it back... Maybe I need to try that since my kids like anything with cheesy flavor!

    • @celticlass8573
      @celticlass8573 Před 2 lety

      @@MiwasJapaneseCooking Definitely! Just be sure it's one that is fortified with B12. It shouldn't be super expensive, it's quite light. Maybe it's worth ordering online? It's really good on popcorn too, with a bit of salt.
