Deathrock is another thing entirely. It’s post-punk, so it’s going to have borrowed some stylistic elements from the punk that preceded it, but Subhumans were only one of many punk bands with trebly bass high in the mix, noise guitar in lieu of riffs, and a morbid sense of humor. I would very much like to see people stop saying that anything that pushes the sides of the punk rock box is something other than punk rock.
Still one of my fave bands. Still sounds fresh in 2020. One of the all time greatest bands
