Not gonna lie I find it very interesting when you take a character and workshop counter play with king and walk us through your thoughts and ideas a video series in which you take two to three characters and workshop counter plays with king would be amazing and informative and potentially lead to more of the same videos and we could learn as you learn. Having never played any fighting games before, I instantly fell in love with how King played in Story Mode and I've been playing and learning him for the past 3 weeks at this point. Your videos have definitely helped and I am learning what I can and can't manage in fights.

But him explaining what is good or not and when is exactly what I need.
Because I don't lab. Playing ranked is good enough for me. I made it to Fujin.
Some thinks it's not that hard with King.
As casual player, I think it's not that bad.
One mad guy said King had the most OP crushing moves(edit : "power crushes").
The thing is, I was not using them much.
Same for heat moves and rage.
I'm old-school Tekken player and I really can't stand all of that modern bullshit.
But eventually it will be natural for me.
That particular sore loser coping for underestimating me actually made me realize I should be spamming uf3+4 more.
Same for those heat and rage buttons.

Man, the f+4 trick for when they want to get up is amazing. I had a lot of trouble lately with people getting up in all sort if weird ways that would hit me, to the point that I was afraid of approaching anymore when they were down. But I just had a few matches in which I used f+4 and it worked so well!
The jaguar jump back is also, as you mentioned, quite risky. And I am tired of people being able to easily react to my jaguar sprint ending. They will literally duck or block around 80% of my attempts if they are a good player. Plus, some characters can actually just jab me and they will cancel my attack before I even get to do it, wtf...
After getting side-stepped like crazy I tried to do the same thing with my enemies but I always get wrecked if they spam, it's quite sad.

I think his armored jaguar sprint with heat activated should have some sort of stun effect, like if an enemy attacks the armor they get a sort of stagger, like have their arm swing up like how it looks when Steve and Victor get their punch parries off. Just a thought that came in mind

2:04 that mid combo side step is crazy hard. I just learned that recently and it's a pain to perfectly execute it
Hey Majin, great video as always. What moves would you recommend against Zafina? I find her difficult to deal with because of her low stances and I end up getting high/mid crushed a lot.

The amount of hate mail I get from playing king is ridiculous. People whine about him and that’s the reason he gets so many nerfs. Either way I’m still riding with king, nerfed or buffed.
People whine about a lot of characters. I'm an Alisa player and people whine about her all the time. Luckily she's not getting nerfed too much but yeah Idc lol

hey there ive basically never really been a tekken player but ive been learning it to get better but my friends sadly are very outside my skill level if they are trying hard. im curious do you still do coaching at all? ive been specifically learning king but i lack alot on just fundies in general.
I see a lot of people on X (Twitter) are calling for more King nerfs, claiming he's at the same level of Alisa in terms of being broken. I don't understand the hate for grapplers.
To be fair 99 percent of players are not breaking throws consistently. Which means counter play is locked for 99 percent of people.
You also have to consider that Twitter is where people go to complain and not much else.
I don't get the complaint King is so basic like his moves are. If you watch all the great King players you know all the inputs to the moves but wonder why you can't do it. It's the execution of the inputs and the mind games of the player. You can't mash buttons with King. You have to be precise like a heart surgeon.
It would help if you put a updated full guide video of king I feel like I need help doing your df 1 +2 into throw like I don’t understand the movement I’ve looked it up nobody really speaks on it, and it would also help to include situational tips aswell like what to do when your throws are constantly being ducked and mids being checked

I real deal love the King matchups i get in blue rank. a lot of them are stuck using the same gameplan. Feels good to figure it out and stump them.
i do run into the occasional beast tho.
i'm not sure how you counterhit using df 2,1 but based on the number of frames, it's not humanly possible to do it with just the counterhit spark. i just let it rip when i felt like i see the opponent looked like they pushed a button. At max delay, you can only press the 1 after 26 frames. and since the startup of df 2 already eats ups 13 frames, you only have 13 frames to react to the spark, which isn't humanly possible. what are other people's techniques to hit confirm rather than through raw visuals?

Better wall combo is 1,2 f3 then you have options like chest bump after which catches stand ups and some other options, or a ground grab for the ones who lay there

I think king is really strong but everyone is really strong in at least one way or another, in a weird way I think king is more of an honest tekken character than most now that throws aren’t homing. Sure throws can be annoying but if you’re playing at intermediate to high level you’ll break most. Sure king has visual mixups on some of his throws (that are high) but think about how many situations you’re put into by certain characters where you just have to constantly guess in open play? Df2 is his best move and probably one of the best moves in all of tekken 8 but take that away and I think king would be in the bottom half of the tekken roster. Also his movement being so bad is such a problem against certain characters too, I think king is probably fine and pretty honest.
One thing I like about JGR2 is that I can use it against people who like to duck RKO on reaction, since it's 5 frames faster and is pretty much unreactable. Not amazing by any means but def something I like to do.
Still sucks how they keep nerfing throws. I also wish that heat did a bit more for King besides giving him his super strong heat smash. Everyone else seems to get cool stuff. Why can't King?
That being said, I still love playing him and he is undoubtedly a strong character. Landing stuff like King's Bridge or Tombstone is pure dopamine.

@@UltimatViolet think pass the layer 1 level my friend. The biggest strengh of jag sprint and muscle armor is you make your opponent stop and think or commit to an action. Jag sprint stop like a yoshi player does the run and run away.
@@rpgtimefire What makes Muscle Armor good is the fact that the built-in follow up is a safe mid heat engager that is extremely plus on hit, which inherently leads to free, unchallengeable mix. Muscle Armor can also be cancelled into a bunch of shit, such as any of King's throws, hopkick, ffn2, or whatever else. It's practically impossible to whiff punish. Armored Jaguar Sprint adds very little and is more of a gimmick at low to mid ranks. On hit, most of Jaguar Sprint's options are solid, especially RKO since it's a tracking heat engager and JGR1 having guaranteed follow-ups. However you tend to risk losing your turn or getting hard punished should they guess correctly. The risk-reward isn't always in King's favor. And if you choose to cancel the run after doing it, you're stuck unable to do anything besides block for a bit.
@@rpgtimefire Jag sprint is still pretty bad. They can just jab you out of it. It's not like the counterplay actually requires brainpower.
The sprint itself also isn't really a mixup. RKO is completely reactable and the elbow isn't a mixup. People see the flash for the RKO and just duck and kill you. It's completely useless against high rank players.
Forget the sprint in general. You're better off using heat for his f21 whiff punish or his heat smash.
I have a suggestion: who's the top 10 characters in tekken rn including king of course. I think the new characters are definitely in that top tier as well 🤷🏾🤷🏾♂️.
I picked up feng as my secondary. I'm a king rank Jack main and picking up feng is really difficult for me so I'll probably give king a shot :)

I think they nerf muscle buster,f3:1+2 and b3:1+2 oki maybe because using f2+3 heat enganger as okizeme because it is guarantee if enemy wake up backward and any get up kick.

Id put king at #6 spot personally, his backdash is trash but i think ur underselling his backwards jaguar step, it covers a lot of distance and low crushes while doing so. I also dont think his wavedash is as useless as u make it out to be, seeing as how he can do grabs out of em and can do ff,n.2 out of it as a low mix.

Do a tier Majin it’s time. We’ve been thru 3 patches already. King is bottom of top 15 in pro tournaments, more like bottom of top 10 in online play. Good but not great. Top top tier characters are like Jin, Kazuya, Devil Jin, Coffee girl, Yoshi, Reina, Eddie, Lili

when you’re running you need to already buffer the arrow movement before you reach the opponent and press 1

I don’t play King but I notice big differences when I go against him. Aside from getting caught in a throw, you can easily work King into trouble.
I'm still so upset they nerfed muscle buster. It feels so unnatural not being able to press back turn 4 after I land it.
I feel like the way that most characters/players win games, king can't utilize. The amount of risk you have to always take and the amount of shit you are forced to block is too much. They need to #1 fix King's movement and oki for sure. Also idk about y'all I don't like f,F,2. Might be just me me but for 31? frames the reach seems lackluster, no? I'm curious to how other people use this move.
Exactly. So many carried plus frame boosted character that don't even need to think about defence plus with panic evasive moves is ridiculous. To be good with king you have to actually be good at tekken.

Ive been taking a break from Tekken since the nerf. King actively feels slower and weaker now. Maybe its my energy level after this nerf. Not to mention the hate is exhausting. People don't even rematch anymore.

King imo is just a strong 50/50 really good kings beat me not in neutral but fundamental spacing.
Others just throw the fucking fridge. Atleast when they throw the fridges, i can dodge.
Fighting king is a great learning experience and pretty fun for me imo feels good leaving with the win or breaking throws
