  • “Being here at Breakbulk Europe allows us to increase our visibility and build stronger relationships.” - Joel Valenzuela, the director of Port of San Diego's maritime business line, said in an interview at Breakbulk Studios. "We've been able to find contacts for new prospects, and all of our existing customers are here."
The California port exhibited at the event and sponsored the session, "A Circle of Possibilities: How the Industry is Shaping their End-to-end Logistics for a More Sustainable Future."
Joel shares why the port decided to sponsor a session along with their presence on the exhibition floor. The session focused on innovative projects and addressing industry challenges, which aligns with San Diego's goal of showcasing the port's problem-solving skills and operational efficiencies, he says.
Joel also discusses a game-changing initiative at the port: Maritime Clean Air Strategy (MCAS), aimed at reducing air emissions through electrification projects. He mentions their groundbreaking acquisitions, including the first all-electric mobile harbor cranes in North America and the first all-electric tug in the U.S.
