Love the chirping birds in background, thanks for sharing.
As a kid I remembered ILCO Company near where my Mom worked here in my city...Saw your lock so looked it up...Founded in 1888 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in the United States, the Lockwood Lock company manufactured entrance door locks and padlocks, among other things, until 1975, when the company was purchased by the Independent Lock Company (ILCO), also of Fitchburg.
Bless you! ( the sneeze )
I forgot to edit that out :0)
I thought it was great😉
My 7th grade math teacher Miss Lavin would say,"God bless you...and stop it!"
@@PaperandMoose there is no need, it was cute, plus you are human....😉💕💜💕💜💕🇩🇰
First , I gotta say I love your finger nails!!! After watching your videos I find myself thrift shopping differently. You are a great influence. Keep up the great work and love that you are repurposing your finds and keeping them out of the landfill and thus lost forever.
Kiss brand glue-on nails. Under $5 and they hold up well!
I’ll take your sincere interest in the items you seek over someone just looking to make a certain profit margin. Nothing wrong with reselling, but it’s nice to see someone get excited about history without only thinking of what they can make😊
Some great finds. Hope for more re-saleable item next time out. You always do a great job on your videos. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Don! I think the first sale would have been the one with the reselling items... except they were all purchased by the time I got there!
that old ledger is awesome the whole covid i've been getting stuff ready to start junk Journaling! so neat !
Let me start off by saying
God Bless You as you ......
sneezed .... please make sure in your adventures to
wash your hands well !
Stay Happy and Healthy
and as always thanks for
being adorable ☺👍
There are enough content creators out there providing- “what did it cost?, what will it sell for?” There are creators like yourself, providing the thrill of the hunt, the history behind things, and smiles and laughs along the way. We are looking for a little fun, not operational skills for running a resell business. That is what uniquely separates you from the pack. We do want you to make some income along the way. Personally and privately, that is your own business, as it should be.
I'd be awful telling people what to look for at thrift stores to buy for reselling....I leave the store empty-handed 95% of the time :0)
Paper and Moose you are correct! Buying and selling is such a personal and knowledge based decision. There is too much of this BOLO crap out there. Here is what to look for if you want to go for the wallet or the “real” money on the table. Strike now while it’s hot. Score big! Get out of your comfort zone if you are ever going to be serious about reselling for a living, so I am told and advised. I am now more confused than at any other time in my life. I’ve just learned that the advice is inconsistent and usually rooted in greed. I would call most of it wagging one’s own tail.
I totally agree with you!!! There are TOO many of those CZcams creators that are the ones like you said: "what did it cost?, what did it sell for and after the selling fees, what did I make?" out there already.! And just because they could make what they did, it sure doesn't mean that I could make the same!!! As for Renee, it's her sweet and honest self, taking us on the thrill of the hunt and especially the research and the history that she presents to us!! That's why so many of us LOVE her!
Well what she pays for things and then resales them for is interesting! Especially when you find a good deal. The thrill of the hunt is fun but if you pick up something on the curb and can resale it and make money that is a win win!. Rene once said she wants to get her subscribers up to a certain amount do she can do this full time so if some express the interest in knowing the prices, I certainly would provide the info!
Hi P M, I love the old cards & Valentine's, they are so precious! Found a box full of 20's & 30's ones at a yard sale for 2.00, just wonderful! Would'nt trade em for the world! Love your's sense of history, beauty, & sentimentality! Can't wait to see what's in the rest of the garbage bags!! Your fan, C R
I like the fact your not focus on the value but more on the history and the value of its appearance of beauty . Money isn't everything and it's a shame people base the beauty and history on how much it's worth. Saving the past of our history is more important then making a buck.
Nothing is more important than making a buck. Money is food, a home, health, a family and freedom. You don't live on thin air, good intentions and kind wishes.
Money without values, ethics, or conscience means a world lacking compassion and is not civilized. We need the balance of money and social conscience in order to enjoy a world in which we don’t eat our babies or watch handicapped individuals starve on the streets or our elderly populations be sent to freeze in the wilderness because they can no longer work; mr b.twenty.
Totally agreeChristina 🇦🇺♥️
I bought a small box of vintage books, super cheap. When I get them home, I find that several of the books have been turned into recipe books, and one was turned into a scrap book of witty quotes.
That bird was so loud he sounded like a car alarm too
I Love going to yard sales.
Enjoyed the cards, Thanks
Enjoyed those
Wow nice yard sales I would have bought all of the vintage kitchen stuff and the cards are beautiful have a great weekend 😊
I love what you do! Keep doing the thing you like to do.👍
Thank you!
Love all the cards. I probably would have bought the whole box of cards at 2 for .25 that is unusually cheap.
Yea I would have bought them all and made her count them all
Those vintage cards are so pretty and cute. Good score.
That bird would not be ignored! lol 🐦
Too bad it doesn't want to be on camera! That would be funny to have a bird just swoop in and sit on my shoulder. Wishful thinking!
I have never heard of the service star in the window . Very interesting how proud of there children families were in the past . We've definitely went the wrong way on this . Your lucky to see a flag flying in a front yard now . If I ever see one of those star banners for sale I'll be buying it .
You found some great items. I have the military banner. It hung in our window. My son was in the air force for 7 years & went on a few deployments. He was stationed in Japan for 3 years.
Nadine Ingram,
Please thank your son for his service to our country.
Great finds Renee. I can hardly wait to get back at garage sales!! 😊❤🌻
I'd have bought the gum-ball machine! I have plans for it already! Even though I've just now caught a glimpse of it! 😁
Enjoyed looking with you...loved the Valentines...I 🥰🥰
Thank you a very well presented, interesting and informative video, you got some lovely old things, hope you do well
Take care and be safe
Sam
Thanks for taking us to the garage sales with you. Half the fun is just going on the hunt!😺
Really like the old cards. I really thought there were more older ones than you bought. At least the glimpse I got of them. I love the idea of reusing the cards. I have saved every card that my children and husband have ever given to me other than some that were lost in a house fire we had. Luckily most of them were in a fire proof filing cabinet that kept them safe. Some things were so smoke damaged that we had to dispose of those. Thank You for taking us with you to the yard sales. Stay safe and God Bless
Looks like you made out OK
That was funny about the woman with the cards.
We went to the flea market this morning, a woman had a tub of little toys, told me 25 cents each. I got it down so our girls could pick out one each for themselves. While they were looking the woman said “ you can buy the entire tub for $40, probably 50 pieces in it”😃
I gave her 50 cents and we got two rubber ducks
Lmao! 🤣 hmmmm $12.50...$40? 🤷🏻♀️
That was a good way to handle all the stuff! I've been carrying all my old stuff in 10 moves! I can't believe all the stuff at the 3rd yard sale!
LOL...I sneezed right before you did. Too funny! Bless you! Love hearing the birds :)
I love those Valentines cards so much. They are so cute and I also love that they were re-purposed and still in great shape. Great find for sure.
Well that sure was fun!Thanx for taking me along! I'm happy you got the flag, and old valentines! TFS Hugs!
Hi renee that banner is for military families who have service member overseas in combat I believe the blue star the gold star means member died active duty I am a gold star mom glad you have it now I see you explained it well
Sorry that you lost a son in war. I can't imagine your pain ( I have 3 sons)
I was a Army wife and a Army mom. I want to thank you for your service to your country. You and your child made the biggest sacrifice to your country. May Jesus always be with you.
My Hubby is a Rover he was grunting when watching this video. He would have bought the whole whether in his size or not!
Bob Stem was the coach for Pburg when my husband was in school. Long Tradition going to the Bon Fire!
And Bless you my Dear
I know you have said you dislike Craigslist advertised garage sales. I agree with you as there's a lot of false advertising. Sales described as "huge" with only 2 tables of stuff. Saying it's a "moving sale" when it's just a reseller having their monthly sale. Using the "estate sale" moniker when it's not. And my experience this morning... Going at 7:30 AM to a garage sale advertised as starting at 8 AM to find a half-dozen people already there having sorted out all the good stuff.
Garage sales are always random experiences. Whereas many have wasted my time with false advertising or retail prices, I've stumbled upon many with some terrific buys. For example, a few weeks ago I bought 15 Mad Magazines from the 1960s & 70s for $7 that I quickly sold on Ebay for $40 plus shipping. And that was around 9 AM when supposedly others had already been there.
I think I might try to stick with ads that have no pictures, see if they are better than those filled with pictures and so everyone knows what is there prior to the sale.
@@PaperandMoose Or just read all the ads and go with the opposite of whatever adjectives they use. Some of the best garage sales are when I just drive around and spot signs for unadvertised garage sales.
I couldn't help but notice the ceramic things . . . I wonder if anywhere on etsy, there's a section of just garage-sale-ceramics . . .
Because etsy is online, people would not have to use so much gas money to go from garage sale to garage sale, looking for the perfect ceramic piece/ or bowl/etc. that matches their house decor. and/or their other cookware, utensils, dinner/breakfast/lunch-sets/etc. that they already have.
You did great,Miss Renee! The cost to have that lock key remade was probably a few dollars by itself! I buy old locks like that myself.Glad you got it!
Love your video, thanks
Happy to hear the birds. Sitting in front of a fire here in Australia, looking out on a gloomy day. Hearing the birds felt like spring.
Hello to Australia - thank you for watching!
I have never seen a sale like the first one!! I don't like looking at things on the ground because my knees are shot!! The Valentine's cards are really cool!! Love the sentimental history of the military piece ❤️🇺🇲
Thank you for explaining the military service banner...I never knew the whole story behind them.
$1 shirts great deal! Loved the cards! LEGOS are always good if reasonable.
Love those old valentines!
Good job getting the Meyers cleaner. I use it to clean my stove and sink.
I used it tonight on my sink - love the smell!
Thanks for sharing and caring! Stay Safe!
An old International Lock Company product. I like the old early combination locks. Have my late dad's high school locker combo. lock...from 1935. The "Piano" book look like it could have been interesting. "Bless You!" That bird is quite a singer..cute! I have a WW I window flag...it's made of silk. Those old cards look like the ones I have I got as a young whipper-snapper.
I miss going to the yard sales!
Great finds😊💐
Never knew about the military banner, thankyou for that knowledge. Also, that's a cool padlock! I haven't seen a garage sale in metro Detroit yet. Had our first restaurant meal yesterday!
Our restaurants are now allowed to offer outside dining. Of course, my favorite place (a diner) can't, but looking forward to the day when I can sit in a diner again!
@@PaperandMoose , soon I hope. We had to wear a mask into and out of the restaurant. The owner and all the staff had on masks, kinda sad.
God Bless You! Renee. Love the Lock and the vintage Valentine's!
That first bird - the one that you said was loud - is an Eastern Phoebe. It says it’s name in its call. Fee-bee, fee-bee.
I looked it up - it is such a little bird :0)
I am so happy garage sales are opening where I live. Went to two today only bought a couple of items.
Good luck at future sales!
Fun tag along.
Hello Renee. God Bless You . I Love the birds singing it is relaxing. I think the cards are so sweet . I like the angel one the most . I have seen yards sales here in Central Illinois the past few weeks . And our goodwill final opened back up. So I'm happy . Can't wait to get a chance to go. But I want to go to habitat for humanity I don't know if it's open yet though. Stay Safe friend. 📜📜📜📜📷📷📷📷📷💖💖💖💖🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻💯💯💯💯💯💯
Awe! that cute Rabbits with the plaid hats!!!😍 [Pause at 3:45 if curious what I'm reacting to]
I had to chuckle.....I live in your area and I say the same thing when I see you..."oh, Paper and Moose is here.....no vintage holiday stuff for me." I do not resell, but love decorating in vintage decor.
Oooo..... God Bless you.
nice finds. great video. Sometimes I get discouraged about garage sales in new neighborhoods too
P&M thanks for the adventure. I love hearing the birds in the background. I almost prefer them over the table saw sounds.
I too prefer the birdies over the chainsaws & weed whackers!
The cardinal is making his voice known.
Keep your videos coming! Your numbers are rising!! Yay!
I have been pleasantly surprised at a few garage sales in newer neighborhoods. Younger families there, but selling items inherited or given to them by old neighbors & family. I love old padlocks. I think I have 10 now displayed on a platter with old keys that don't match the locks. thanks
That sounds like a nice display!
Junk journalist would also have loved those ideals magazines!!
Thanks 😊
Thanks for a great video and the story about the War Banner.
Hi P+M ,Saw you with Taco and decided to follow you . good luck !
I love yard sales but we had none today. Darling cards. Great video.
Neat that the key fits to the lock. Ledger, yes dream of every scrapbooking crafter. Valentine staff was very cute. Good tour today Renee!
Love shopping with you❣️ Great finds
Love the valentines!
That's always been my theory....if you want old stuff go to the oldest house you can find...if you want Walmart stuff go to a newer house...
Love yard sales, and they are slowly coming back to life where I live (KY) but, not quick enough for me! Yard sales are easy to social distance at: spread your stuff out in driveway/yard, and give people room to spread out while they look. Estate sales are harder. The nature of estate sales is they are usually an entire household worth of items so, are inside the home. I am going to my first estate sale of the season tomorrow morning and I expect there will be limiting of people at the door going in. We will see! Mask and car hand sanitizer at the ready!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 you hit 25k. WTG Renee ‼️ Glad you got several yard sales to attend. Did well on the picking. ~ Texas
Hoping to get to more yard sales this season! I think rummage sales aren't a go, but that would be nice if they could be held this fall.
Bless you
We had one when my brother was in the service from 1969-1974. Thankfully, we never had to switch it to a gold star.
Glad to hear that your brother made it home!
Two for a quarter, woot! There was some beautiful Longaberger pottery at the third sale 6:48. I, too, go after the vibtage, but I might have had to pick up some of that...If the price was right.
Wow the birds are happy today lol
Thanks
Wow, your yard sales are so zen! Around where I live, yard sales are so besieged by resellers you can’t get near them. I stopped going.
Perhaps these sales were the calm before the storm!
God bless you at 9:41.
Enjoyed this, Renee!
Bless you!
You never disappoint Renee.
God bless you
Fun video, can't wait for ours to start in illinois!
Love the Valentines
great valentines...
I miss yard sales. Tina
Hey love watching your videos
I’m watching from Hamilton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Keep up the good work 🌹
Thanks so much Paula!
You win some, you lose some. You’re karma’s going to keep you deep on the winner side. I’m sure.
Key looks newer because it was inside or on a key chain; lock was exposed to the elements.
You're fortunate Renee. Connecticut still draggin' it's feet to open stuff. Salvation Army Goodwill & Savers still locked up BUT taking donations . . . smh cause people, animals and rain is hitting everything and doesn't look like anybody's bringing it in or sorting . People just picking thru the outdoor bins. 😖 Love the birds doin' their thing in the background . Hard to believe summers almost here . TFS it was fun 😊
Some of our thrift stores just opened. A mall close by in PA just opened, well, the "essential" stores did including an Orange Julius... which I guess I never considered essential before :0)
Was that a four car Garage at the start ? Nice 😁
I'm hittin' my second yard sale tomorrow 06/13 @ 7am 😁😎😁💲😁😎😁
Sweet Heart Banner is a great treasure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yard sale is so apt. In Australia we call them Garage sales. Edit: I just noticed your hashtag #garagesales lol. Just ignore me. 🤦♀️
I think I saw longaberger pottery at sale 3!
Renee, at that first sale that you went to no wonder why there was things missing it looked like you parked in the next county.. to be young again to park so far away from a sale, hats off to you. young one.
The pictures for that sale showed the upper part of the driveway filled with rows of boxes... gone, all gone.
Legos you can sell by the pound. About $5.00 a pound.
Great content..can’t wait for sales in my area (Fl.)
Florida hasn't opened yet for yard sales?
What do you do with all the paper you buy and cards ? What is a junk journal?
