I love this song. My uncle had a recording of it with a second verse, but I don't know where it is now. It was one of the first Hawaiian songs I memorized, although in the recording I learned it from the last two lines of the addtion's chorus are "O, dear Lord, let me follow in Your footsteps/As I walk through paradise with You." I even wrote a second verse to the addition.I read an interesting bit of back-story about it: Almeida submitted it to his church for possible inclusion into a hymnal (or something like that) when he wrote it, but it got rejected -- because the tune was too much like a hula.

It's an Old classic Hawaiian song of the Kanaka Waiwai "Rich man" giving his possessions away to serve Ke Akua (God) and speaks basically of humbling your self to serve Ke Akua and promote Pono (righteousness) like Iesu (Jesus Christ).
This is the song that made me fall in love with Hawaiian music, so very many years ago. Mahalo for posting. Saw them live just once, at that old hotel on Fort Street. Can’t remember the name of it now. Damn, wished I lived in Hawaii now.
