That was the real South Africa vintage. Wow, great beat and great song unmatched. I love her songs paaaaaaaa! Growing up in Ghana in the 50s and 60s, we used to listen to GBC programme called Way Down South and they played all these sonorous and melodious South African maestros including King Kong.
I saw Ipi tombi in 1978 when I was very young. I fell in love with the beat all those years ago in the diamond mine they were performing in. Memories....
Hahaha I'm starting to wonder what I used to sing on the part that saya "Ela gqirha laqgitha laqabela phaya" I don't know how this song came to my mind after sooo many years! Great tune 😇
I was in ZA on a 2 week trip from Jo’Burg to Cape Town About 15 years ago. They often played this song on the tour vehicle. I fell in love with it. I used to have the album “the great South African trip“ I wish I knew where I could still get it.
I remember watching Ipi NTombi on the Royal Variety Show in the 1970's and was amazed at the music. So much so .. when I worked in South Africa many years later I bought the LP having tried and failed to find it here in the UK. What's more ... I cam e home with an African wife too. (Kholiwe)
This's Africa ,mother of all nations ,whether they like it or not ,how beautiful and "Hot" the girls are ,my God ! oh ! I's forgetting to say ,what a beautiful song !
