  • A few months ago, I completed a challenge where I trained in Jiu-Jitsu for 30 days ↓
    • I tried Jiu Jitsu for ...
    Since then, I haven't trained much. I had a lot of excuses for why I couldn't before but now that I'm settled here in the Philippines, it's time to start it up again. But this time with gi.
    Hope you enjoy!
    Comment down below with any other physical challenges you think I should try ✌️

    How relevant! I’m coming back to BJJ after a six month hiatus myself and starting with gi classes since they’re free despite preferring no-gi myself. I can’t wait to go back to no-gi in the new year.

    I did a drop in here when I was in Dumaguete. It was nogi night and I prefer training in the gi just cause I love those nasty collar chokes. I'm facing the opposite problem and have no idea how I'm supposed to grip without a gi. I am making the effort to do more nogi training as I feel it would improve my overall game.

      That’s fair, I’m sure I would love it too if I knew how to do it 😂 no gi definitely comes with its challenges, that’s great that you’re trying to incorporate it in too though!

    The gi is a simulation of people’s common clothing, like collars and sleeves.

    • @derrickrobinson7269
      @derrickrobinson7269 Před 7 měsíci

      No its not. Its based on the Attire of old Japan when they actually wore Kimonos outside. So its literally an outdated tradition. If you want to use the real-life argument then we should train in everyday clothes. Only problem is that its not as sturdy and comes off, turning it into NoGi...

    If you're going to try wrestling try catch wrestling. It have everything from freestyle wrestling plus submission. Including cross face neck cranks. Or try luta livre ( a Brazilian form of catch wrestling but no pin).

    in terms for beginners, how does someone win a jiujitsu match?? like, what is the objective

    • @faith.lopezz
      @faith.lopezz  Před rokem +1

      There are point systems if you're competing but in general the goal in the beginning is to not get submitted and eventually be able to tap people out. It's just about figuring out how to move and protect yourself when you start :)

    • @saragrey7801
      @saragrey7801 Před rokem

      @@faith.lopezz thanks for the response! what does get submitted mean- is that how you lose?

    • @bjjtraveler
      @bjjtraveler Před rokem +1

      @@saragrey7801 Being submitted means that you have to give up fighting because you have been trapped in a submission hold. Your opponent has got you in a joint lock or a choke and you have to tap out. If you don't tap out you risk injury if you're being held in a joint lock or if you're in a choke hold you may go unconscious.
