Antiques Roadshow Series 45: 7 - Eden Project 1
Episode Description: In this special episode, filmed before the Accession, Fiona introduces the Queen Consort to roadshow visitors and members of the team of experts, and finds out about her close connection to the Eden Project and the charity The Big Lunch.
Like any visitor to the roadshow, the Queen Consort has brought some personal items to share with the experts. Silver specialist Duncan Campbell is thrilled to see a rare snuffbox from the Royal Collection that was made from Cornish silver, while books expert Justin Croft admires a copy of Gray’s Elegy in a Country Churchyard. The Queen Consort describes her love for the poem and her interest in the book’s exquisite binding, which was done in 1899 by the Guild of Women Binders.
The Queen Consort also joins Fiona for a ‘guess the mystery item’ challenge posed by jewellery specialist Geoffrey Munn. Can they work out the true purpose of three unusual items - a piece of rock crystal, a silver plaque decorated with a pair of eyes, and two jewelled arrows? - Zábava
OMG!!!! This is actually the first time I'm listening to her voice. And it is very pleasing and warm ❤
For an absolute racist, she comes off as almost acceptable, but really, she deserves to be drawn and quartered
I have the impression she knows more than some of the experts... She is very intelligent, knowledgable and well-read.
Isn´t she charmiing? It was a pleasure listingen to her.
I´ve been quite surprised that she was able to make me interested in every topic she spoke about: the charity, the book, the poem. What a beautiful gift for HM Queen Consort.

Antique Road show has shown great progress through the years indeed...to get here
I am so glad to hear Her Majesty talk freely at the show, and she is beautifully natural. Wonderful!
While many of us forever remain ardent admirers of Diana, it is obvious that Camilla is an engaging person who genuinely makes others feel comfortable in her presence. I don't sense the slightest bit of pretense in her at all. She quietly goes about her duties to champion worthy causes. Am certain she will be of tremendous help to her husband now that he is King.
You are absolutely right in your assessment. I was introduced to her by a mutual friend 41 years ago, and in all that time she hasn't changed once. Like the late Queen, what you see is what you get. No pretense, no vanity, no malice and totally honest. She has suffered a lot of ill informed and vicious criticism over the years, and has been appreciative of those who have been true and loyal friends to her.
@@michaelmontagu3979 Thank you for sharing your experience. I truly wish both her and the King well as they take on the heavy burden of responsibility.
@Karen Okeane It is a heavy burden. Not everyone appreciates that.
I don't think Diana would have been able to handle being queen, considering how poorly she handled her private dramas. Being queen requires you to make people at ease, not telling the whole world how miserable you are. Camilla seems wonderfully able and a strong asset for the monarchy.
What a lovely lady. Wonderfully engaging on every subject.
That was lovely
Thank you Mrs. Philibet. I had heard about this in America. I have been watching a lot of Antique Roadshow on CZcams lately. Just delighted this came up. The Queen Consort is just delightful. Enjoy the Coronation next month. I’m excited to watch it. Queen Elizabeth II was already Queen when I was born in 1956. I have had so respect and admiration for her my entire life.
Really enjoyed this, more please!?
Camilla seems very kind and genuine. She has a very learned interest in things and comes across as fun & joyful.
Kind and genuine. Give me a break
Loved seeing this side of Her Majesty.
The Lovely Gracious Queen Camilla - loving the ARS too! Thank you for sharing!
I saw Camilla on Antiques Roadshow. I would love to meet her ... she seems so well balanced, kind & caring! Thanks for uploading this x
I was introduced to her by a mutual friend 41 years ago. Her Majesty is very much what you see is what you get.

always enjoy seeing HM Queen Camilla! Thanks for posting. She's a great asset to the royal family.
Queen Consort Camilla.
@@davidlogan4329 She isn't "Queen Consort Camilla" - that title doesn't exist. She is Her Majesty the Queen Consort or Camilla, Queen Consort.
@@davidlogan4329 Every queen of Britain who is not Queen Regnant is Queen 'Consort'. The established, traditional way to refer to either a regnant or a consort is just "Queen". There seems to be some discomfort with referring to Camilla as simply "Queen"; people mistakenly think 'consort' diminishes or qualifies 'queen' negatively. 'Consort' refers to every queen who doesn't hold the regnal title independent of a king. So HM the Queen Mother was, for example, also a consort. As was HM Queen Alexandra, HM Queen Charlotte, all of Henry VIII's wives, etc, etc.
@@welshblush Good explanation 😂 People think the consort is there to dimish her, but even the beloved Diana would be a Queen Consort if she was still married to Charles obviously.
@@welshblush I Always call her Queen Camilla as she so Lovely Deserves her Title I just so admire and Love Queen Camilla ❤️
WOW! What a wonderful charming agreeable Queen Consort Camilla is, I am so glad we see her interact in such a way, not in an official venue, she has a sweet smile and I love her laugh.
As many others have stated, l wasn't a fan of Camilla in the past, but l can see what a positive, steadying influence she is in King Charles' life. She is charming and relatable and l wish her well in her new role as Queen Consort Camilla.

Queen Camilla is so natural and lovely. Her interests are perfect for King Charles. How happy they must be. I adore poetry and books, antiques and gardens too. I have loved flowers all my life. At 80, I have photos of me in my pram holding always a flower. That was a joy to watch. Thank you. ❤

Camilla is charming. I’m reading Angela Levin’s book “Camilla” and really happy to learn more about her.
Dare I say I had to turn on the captions for this one…
Well, that was fun! Thank you for sharing
The Queen Consort is such a charming woman. It was a pleasure to see her ease and how she puts others at ease, too. One reads about her sense of humor and fun, and it shows here. A treasure.

Ever since her marriage to the then Prince Charles, Her Majesty has been a quiet and steadying source of strength to him. She does nothing to attract the 'limelight.' She takes her duties very seriously and performs them with grace and discretion. His Majesty is lucky to have her, as are we, the British nation. I wish them both a splendid Coronation and a Happy reign.
She’s a good woman but sometimes I think he substituted Mummy with Mom. Grow up KCIII start work by visiting every country in the Commonwealth. 🏴
@@sabejreid2072 the commonwealth is his mom's passion project. it's her way of overcompensating for the collapse of the British empire. Charles should be his own man and find his own thing, not just do things as his mom did.
Camilla is very sincere. She had to overcome the hard feelings many of the British people had against her related to Princess Diana and Charles. She stood fast and weathered the storm to be accepted.
She is a lovely lady. Kind, sincere and with no vanity or malice.

@citizen can You're quite right. Her difficult childhood, drunk bully for a father and adulterous mother, left her feeling neglected. That gave her an overwhelming need for attention. The more she got, the more she needed. But it was never enough. Plus, the same issue meant that she would never be able to maintain a long term, happy relationship with anyone, postman or Prince. That explains her string of affairs.

She is. We met through a mutual friend 41 years ago and are still in regular contact.
The Queen seems very sincere, the kind of person you could chat to over a cup of tea. And a lovely sense of humour, I've never ridden a horse at night in Spain....
God bless Her Majesty and God Save The King.
She is what used to be called a good sport
Always lovely and kind, very personable, making you feel like her friend. Her RH, future Queen, Consort will fit perfectly into the line of all beloved people's Queens.
I've never liked Camilla at first but now I like her such a lovely lady and down to earth
Queen Diana.❤
She is a stabilizing force for King Charles. 👑👌 Hope for a splendid Coronation on May.
Jolly Good. She is a Queen to her King and the Country.
Not queen camilla unless I have misunderstood queen tital please note lack of capitals
Perhaps if you could put together a semi-coherent sentence?
Well, Queen Camilla is actually correct nothing to do with capitals. She is the wife of a King, thus a Queen consort. ( consort means spouse of a monarch nothing diminishing like people would like it to appear). I think you're confused with the two Queen titles. I'll explain it as clear as possible. First, you got to know that there are many types of Queens, each of them with different functions, duties, etc. The confusion never occur with the title King because when the ancestors where creating titles, the " King" was the supreme title and nobody could have the same title if not the King himself, the monarch. That is the reason why the husband of the late Queen couldn't be crown King, it would automatically outrank her. Now talking about the title "Queen". Originally, the title was created for the wife of the King, so when the King marries, his wife would be crowned Queen, simple. Now when that Queen loses her husband and her son becomes the next King (I'm talking about the time where only men could be monarchs ), her title was elevated to the Queen Mother, but if it's not her own son but still the child of the King, she will be elevated to the *Queen dowager* ( Camilla could be a Queen dowager if she outlives Charles III) and the biological mother of the new King would be the *Queen Mother* ( Princess Diana could be posthumously promoted to Queen Mother when William becomes King, it totally depends on the monarch to grant the posthumous title). In case where the child is too young to reign over the kingdom, or if the king is too sick or can't fulfill his duties and at that time his children are not born or too young, the Queen could be temporarily promoted to *Queen regent* but it's not necessary the Queen that can be regent, sometimes the princes, brothers, uncles of the King can be regent but again depends on how much he trust them. Now let's talk about the era with female rulers. When they started to rule, they didn't create a new title for the equivalent of King, they simply took the highest title of a woman in the Kingdom and added a regnant status to it. That's how the *Queen Regnant* was created. Queen Elizabeth II , Queen Victoria, Queen Margrethe are all Queen Regnant. Besides to Queen regnant, a regnal number is usually assigned to them when another monarch of the same name starts to reign. For example Queen Elizabeth the first was simply Queen Elizabeth in her lifetime, but the late Queen had the same name. The first one get automatically assigned a regnal number and we know her as Queen Elizabeth I and the late Queen Elizabeth II, if there is another Elizabeth in the future she will be Elizabeth III. However, it doesn't happen to the wife of the monarch, *The Queen consort* . Saying the Queen consort isn't wrong itself but it is useless since The Queen consort is the wife of the King and the wife of a King is a Queen😅 so that's why they're simply called The Queen too. In my *opinion*, the emphasis should be on the Queen regnant, but again it's useless since they never exist at the same time anyway, only one at that time. When there is a Queen regnant, there wouldn't be a Queen consort and vice versa. However, the Queen mother or dowager should be distinctly adressed to not confuse her with the wife of her son/step-son or her own daughter since they could exist at the same time. Case of Elizabeth II and her mom Elizabeth The Queen Mother or maybe in the future Princess Catherine and Queen Camilla. Sorry that was super long but hope it helps.😮
When she first ‘came on the scene’ I disliked her intensely, but her love for Charles is a true love.
She has the ability to make him more approachable and this has become so obvious now that he is the King.
I don't think Diana would have been able to handle being queen, considering how poorly she handled her private dramas. Being queen requires you to make people at ease, not telling the whole world how miserable you are. Camilla seems wonderfully able and a strong asset for the monarchy.

Camilla is a woman of substance. She’s lovely.
I thought she would only be queen consort, what changed??
nothing changed.
They made her queen because they could and they're the royals
She was his love before he married Diana. They should have just left Diana alone. First time I’ve heard her speak as well…Makes her seem more human and likable.
Queen she is
No divorcee can every be Queen
I really like her and she is very normal. No ugly plastic cattle filler anywhere
No vanity and no malice
Camilla is the woman Charles always loved. And their love has stood the test of time. Diana's fanatics need to deal with it and let it go
And realise Diana was far from perfect. Yes, she was attractive and a great clothes horse, but underneath was an immature, mentally unstable, quite vindictive woman. She seems to have passed many of those traits on to her younger son.
Absolutely agree with you.
Diana fell in love with her body guard
and then James Hewitt
who she was with for 5 years.
No one calls her an adulterer though.
Diana said herself that she & Charles had happy times in the early years and were very close.
Their incompatibility led them to
grow apart and live separate lives for years before the public were even aware of it as they continued their public engagements together.
After the divorce Charles & Diana were friends & Diana even said that she could see how happy
Camilla made Charles.
Agree. They need to let go. They are holding onto a fairy tale that was not reality.
@Joshua Taylor Absolutely agree with you. They see only the public face of Diana, not the reality. My mother in law is a professor of psychology. She says that such people often have issues of their own which they assuage with their devotion to someone they never actually knew. It's very unhealthy mentally.

Your heading needs adjusting....Camilla is Queen Consort 🤔
Yes, if I go by her position. But I prefer going by her official title. ☺
@@mrs.philibet .....which is Queen Consort
Queen Consort is a position, not a title. Charles's position is King Regnant, and his official title is HM The King or we can just call him King Charles. Philip's position was Prince Consort, and his official title was HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh among many others, hence if we go by his titles, we addressed him as Prince Philip or the Duke of Edinburgh. Camilla has various official titles. Just like she has never used the Princess of Wales title when she married Charles, but used the second most prominent title of her husband which was the Dukedom of Cornwall, hence her being called the Duchess of Cornwall. Or you can just call Catherine Consort of the Prince of Wales or Princess Consort of Wales. Because that is her position as well.
@@roseoconnor5938 No her official title is Queen 🤦♀️ And her position or status is Consort ( means spouse of the reigning monarch). The correct way to adress her with "consort" is actually Camilla Queen Consort of King Charles III not of The UK. I mean she is not the wife of the whole kingdom 😅 she is consort to her husband and Queen of kingdom. She is simply not the reigning Queen like HMTLQ, but both are Queens. She is not to blame because the tradition didn't actually have another title for the female monarchs 🤷♀️ Not her fault.
I like Camilla, she is dignified and sincere and she’s unfairly got a bad wrap.
Nothing says dignified like cheating on your spouse with a married man.

Diana shaped the monarchy for the better and made it more human, she was graceful, loving, kind and above all dedicated to helping those in need.
Camilla wasn't even loyal to her own husband and comes from a family full of garish social climbers and mistresses. Diana was literally called the people's princess, I don't think making people feel at ease was something she was incapable of. world leaders like Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela praised her loving presence.
Even Robert Mugabe liked her, no one says the same for tampon queen.

@@nataliekhanyola5669 Constitutionally, Diana can't be a Queen anywhere for the very simple reason that she is dead, and never married a King while she was alive. Charles was a prince at the time of their divorce.

Queen Consort Camilla.
You call her however you want. I don't care. But this is MY channel, so don't teach me how I want to call her on MY channel. Thank you and may you have a good day.
Do you think pointing out the word Consort somehow denies her the position of Queen? She is the King's wife and holds the same rank as him. She is the most senior female in the royal family, outranking William, Kate, Anne, Edward, Sophie etc. As Queen Consort, she is the Queen of the United Kingdom - just like every Queen Consort who has come before her. Queen Mary, Queen Alexandra, Queen Adelaide, Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother).

@@remyberry4582 so Prince Philip was actually King Philip according to your logic.
@@judithwilliams3147 not at all, because men do not inherit titles from their wives. The title King Consort does not exist. It’s the same reason that when a woman marries a man she became Mr and Mrs John Smith for example. Only a female can inherit the same rank, title and style of their husband.

Oh, but she is. 😅 So was Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother). And honestly, I don't have the slightest problem in people calling her by her *position* as the Queen Consort rather than her title HM The Queen.
The thing that icks me is people trying to correct me when I'm also correct. I just prefer to call her by her title, which is what other consorts from other royal families are also addressed as; Queen Letizia of Spain (Consort of King Felipe VI), Queen Máxima of the Netherlands (Consort of King Willem-Alexander), Queen Silvia of Sweden (Consort of King Carl XVI Gustaf), Queen Sonja of Norway (Consort of King Harald V), Queen Mathilde of Belgium (Consort of King Philippe), Queen Rania of Jordan (Consort of King Abdullah bin Al Hussein), Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan (Consort of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck) and so on...

Factually she is. The wives of the kings of England/Britain/United Kingdom have always had the title of queen and Queen Camilla will be crowned along with her husband at the forthcoming coronation.
