    If all these boots had the same urethane on all the wheels it would be a much better test. The original wheels that come in most fitness skate packages are really really slow compared to 10-15 dollar per wheel premiums for those smaller sizes.

      The wheels make a massive difference! I previously did two tests on a speed boot with premium and with low budget wheels and found a huge difference. My goal with this test however, was to compare the entire skates to one another. Thus sticking with the setup they'd usually come with :) If you're interested in the wheel speed difference, that video is here: czcams.com/video/2hnFGJvKGaw/video.html

      @@thorupviktor Ok, so it was more like running on a factory setup if I get you correctly. But looking at your speed setup I was a bit confused that I saw the softest wheels there. Is Firm your chosen version of the wheel? Wouldn't you go for XFirm or even XXFirm instead?

    incredible seen what you can do with theese skates. That makes the difference between an olympic skater and a 45 years old "new" semi speek skater. With 125 semispeed skate I need 160 heart rates to reach 22 Km/h... Great video.

    I would like to see comparison 4x110 wheels vs 3x125 on speed skates. I really curious why some skaters choose 110 against 125 for speed skating.

      Longer frame gets more speed. Lower tires gets better balance.

      Because 125 is not allowed in all competitions if im correct

    How do you recommend setting the 125, 12.8 frame on the n41 26cm boots? Do I put in the center? Do I go slightly forward or back?

    35 yr old male newby in average health. What roller skates would you recommend for someone who lives in a small country town with rough/bumpy chip and tar rodes? I prefer speed first, then comfort. When I say comfort, I mean less vibration. These skates will just be used to go up and down roads and sidewalks; no tricks or anything. Please give me a middle of the rode price for first recommendation and a budget recommendation. If it's the same model for both that's fine too. Thank you.

      For those type of roads get the biggest wheel size, either a 4x110 or 3x125

    Would be interesting to see the speed difference between 3x110 and 4x110. I noted when going from 4x80 to 3x110 only a few kmh differences, but the 110s are better on rough asfalt

    • @anul6801
      @anul6801 Před měsícem +1

      For me bigger wheels is better because of the asfalt...

    Stupid question but how do you stop in the speed skates and the fitness skates? When I used to skate a lot I would typically just drag my back foot sideways to stop. But I was using regular street skates and didn’t mind chewing up wheels. I’m willing to bet that the price of wheels and lack of ankle support would make a person less inclined to do that with higher end skates.

      You can still do it the same way you did, haven't tried it myself but I do see people breaking that way at the club where I go to

    So if I upgraded skates I would go from 12 mph to 15 mph. maybe worth it. maybe not because speed skates I suspect don't climb hills any faster? Also how does the workout compare using 80mm wheels vs 125? you mentioned higher turnover possible increasing bloodflow, do you use a different balance of muscles?

  • @SaccoBelmonte
    @SaccoBelmonte Před 6 měsíci

    Interesting that the speed difference between them is not much for the average skater. For you it means winning or losing. I go often on 4x80 and 3x110 and besides the fact you coast more with less effort with the 3x110 the top speed difference is not that noticeable. I recently learned the top speed for ice skaters is around 60kph which is nothing hehe.

    The "Revv Boa" skate is not an ordinary skate, it has great wheels and ILQ-9 PRO bearing that make all the difference, that's why you were positively amazed.
    Do you believe that the longer you stay with a single skate, the better you perform in it over the course of months?
    Would it be possible to use "RevvBoa" in a marathon for example?

    • @thorupviktor
      @thorupviktor  Před rokem +1

      The Revv Boa is definitely a premium fitness skate. In terms of specs, it comes close to a full speed model. That said, I was surprised that it wouldn't cost more speed to be technically limited by the higher cuff :)
      I do believe that staying with the same skate is a good call (if it's a good skate), and that you'll still improve from small adaptations over the course of months.
      Revv Boa might even be the skate I would recommend to the most people that are looking to skate a marathon.

    Skating without socks is mind boggling. Feet must be harder than steel.
