"Papaya, a fruit initially from Mexico, was introduced to India in the sixteenth century. It has grown in popularity across India and is today the sixth most crucial fruit traded there. The fruit crop bears earlier than any other, produces fruit in less than a year, and has a reasonably high production rate per unit of land. Among the hill states, Manipur produces the most, followed by Tripura and Mizoram, while Mizoram has the most significant territory dedicated to this crop. Popular papayas are prized for their superior nutritional and medicinal qualities.
The yearly production of fruit is anticipated to exceed 6 million tonnes worldwide. India, the biggest producer in the world, generates over 3 million tonnes of papaya each year. Other producers include Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, Indonesia, China, Peru, Thailand, and the Philippines. Papaya farming is widespread among Indian farmers because It is simple to cultivate, and when given the correct nutrients, it yields tremendous earnings. The earnings per acre might reach five lakhs.
