For this to happen, tons and tons of multinationals and big corporations have to invest in it, for the country alone couldn't make it happen and usually, many of these blueprints have remained blueprints and are not happening and are abandoned. If it happens it would take decades to complete if it ever happens. It would attract investors to join if incentives suit their taste and this is up to the government.

Large unemployment rate, which will only get larger as the population expands at a very high rate. South Africa is also going down the drain with the government about to acquire land from the most productive segment of the population i.e the white farmers. They never learn. This is what happens when foreign and private investors get involved in a massive project such as Eko Atlantic. Meanwhile the FGN can not provide 24/7 electricity, adequate pipe borne water systems, functioning medical facilities, build interstate highways, provide light rail transportation, electricity, more oil refineries or provide low cost housing to its citizens. The FGN fails to realize that in order for a nations economy to grow, it has to provide infrastructure. The ease of moving goods, services and people from point A to point B is the lifeline for the prosperity of a nation. By nature, Nigerians are a very hard working people and do not expect handouts or welfare from the FGN. All they need are basic necessities that will enable them get on with their lives.

      @beatefackler3518 Před 5 lety +5

      Totally right. Please read my two comments in the thread above in #RobertsDigital. They bridle the horse from behind without solid social structures in the country. And this goes for many other African countries as well. To build solid structures is a process that lasts some generations if it should last. A good government is interested in the sane and continuos development of the own country and its people. This means first to stop corruption as far as possible, to educate the own people, to change the mindset, to build the necessary infrastructure like roads/highways, schools, universities, hospitals, etc. Foreign investors welcome but not only for their benefit but also for the benefit of the own people. An interesting example is currently Ruanda with his president, his wife and his visions. This is in first place Chinese money investing there. But the rules of the game are obviously balanced. The country is almost unrecognizable after the human desaster 25 years ago. Ruanda could be an excellent example for other emerging African countries. And where there is will, there is a way.

    This is amazing. I wish Nigeria luck and blessings in this endeavor. When it is finish I hope to see it's residential population to be at least 90% Nigerian born citizens. I hope to see Nigerian children in that exclusive school, not just rich white, Asian, and Arab children. I hope to see Nigerian doctors in that state of the art hospital, etc.

      @Biobele Před 4 lety +7

      Nigeria exports more than enough doctors to USA and UK so I'm sure Nigerian doctors and nurses will man the hospitals too. Hillary Clintons doctor is Nigerian.
      But why font you guys say the same for UK, Dubai etc do you know a guy from UK is over all head of the airport in Dubai. And in the UK a Nigerian is the over all head of one of their biggest airports but when it comes to Africa nobody trusts Africans and you keep seeing shameful comments like these.
