* 2 cups basmati rice. Wash the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear and soak it preferably for 15 mins. Please drain all the water before adding the rice to the pot.
* 3 & 1/2 cups of hot water . Please use the same cup used to measure out rice to measure water.
* 1 tablespoon oil
* 1 tablespoon ghee
How To Make Homemade ghee - • HOW TO MAKE GHEE AT HO...
* 1 dry bay leaf
* 1 small cinnamon stick
* 2 green cardamoms

* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon lime/lemon juice/white vinegar
* chopped coriander leaves for garnish (optional)
Method -
* Add beans to pressure cooker along with 4t water and teaspoon salt
* Pressure cook for 13 mins if using regular pressure cooker or 15 mins if using IP. Please note if using large red kidney beans pressure cook it for 20 - 25 mins as it takes longer time to cook. After prne please allow all the pressure to be released naturally and only then open the lid of your cooker. If using an open pot to cook, the cooking time will be more and you will need more water.
* Make a smooth paste with ginger, garlic, green chilli, a tablespoon of finely chopped onion and tomatoes
* Add oil to pot and add the bayleaf, cinnamon stick, crushed black cardamom and cumin seeds.
* Add finely chopped onions and just pinch of salt and stir till onions are just golden in color
* Add the spice paste and fry on low heat for 2 mins
* Add the blended paste and cover pan partially.on medium low heat
* Stir it from time to time on medium low heat till the mixture becomes pasty.
* Add the cooked beans, chopped coriander stem, garam masala powder and kasoori methi
* Simmer with cover on for 15 mins
* Mash few beans with the back of your spoon, garnish
For making jeera rice - Serves 3
*Warm oil+ ghee in pot
* Add dry bay leaf, cinnamon stick, green cardamoms and cumin seeds
* Allow the seeds to crackle on medium heat to release flavor but please be careful that the seeds do not turn black
* Add the washed and drained rice
* Stir the rice very gently on medium low heat for about 2 minutes
* Add water, salt, lemon/lime juice/vinegar
* Allow water to come unto boil on medium high heat
* Once water boils, reduce heat to medium and allow the rice to come to surface
* Cover and cook rice on very low heat for 8 mins
* Taste the rice after 8 mins. If it is very chewy and the water has gone dry, just add a splash of water and give it a few more minutes.
* Switch off heat, fluff up the rice gently, add coriander leaves and keep it covered for 10 minutes or more. The more the rice sits the fluffier it gets.

Just finished serving a dinner of Rajma Masala and Jeera Rice with Grilled croaker fish seasoned with a mix of Curry Powder, and Garam masala and salt (i've been experimenting with that spice mix for a while now, it work) . yummm
Your philosophy on food is spot on. The simplest dishes are often the best and no matter how simple they are, they still deserve to be prepared with care. I may be an agnostic, but the gifts nature gives us, should not be taken lightly.
Greetings from germany.

Hello Bumbi
Once again thank you for Sharing your wonderful recipies with us / the world.
This was a very delicious meal served with cumin Rice and some papadums. 😊
I am glad you liked it
Hey Bumbi , this is my favourite comfort food. But when I make rajma masala I always add paneer cubes ( earlier I used to add it because my kids n husband love paneer) , but believe me adding paneer to rajma takes it to the next level. Rajma masala n jeera rice is just too good 👍 Happy Makar Sankranti to you and your family Bumbi. Have a wonderful weekend 🌺
Next time I will definitely add it. Thanks for suggesting that. A very happy Makar Sankranti to you and your family as well. Have a lovely weekend.
You explain.everything so well with your soothing voice.....great communication talents...

I accidentally stumbled on your video and with just one video i fell for your recipe and for your story telling melodious voice and subscribed that very moment. Sending my love from Las Vegas US ❤️
Welcome 🙏🏾, I am glad you are here. Thanks for your support.
I know very little about curry beyond the most basic and well known forms. Therefore, the idea of adding pinto or really any "bean," into them is new to me. I know since Bumbi is making it, it will be good but still I am very interested to see how this turns out
I am sure you will like it. Please do give it a try and let me know. Thanks.
Spice time!
😀
Just discovered (and subscribed) to this channel. I love the way you show the steps and explain everything as you go. Will be making this for sure. I grew up in Southeast Texas where beans and rice are a staple. They will sometimes be the entire meal along with some cornbread. Very nice video.
Welcome 🙏🏾, I am glad you are here. Thanks for leaving a comment.
I am going to make the pinto bean rajma later tonight, thanks! My chicken turned out to be bad chicken so I had to throw it out so I'm making beans instead for Sunday dinner. That rice looks extremely tasty but I cannot have rice right now as I'm trying to keep it low carb but the beans I can have as I'm only using 1/4 cup and that makes about 1/2 cup after cooking/soaking and is also half fiber. Thanks for this recipe! I'll try the rice the next time I'm taking a carb load day, so maybe in a couple of weeks.
You should take it back to grocery store if chicken is bad. It happened to me twice and I returned to my grocery store. They gave me full refund.
Nice 🎉❤content❤❤❤🎉🎉
Thanks
Its a cold stormy day in Johannesburg, South Africa. Followed your pinto beans recipe, its absolutely delicious ❤ thank you 😊
Stay safe my friend. Thanks for trying this recipe
Another great recipe. I've always made Rajma with kidney beans. I have a quanity of pinto beans on hand, so I will try this. Everyday is school day. We owe so much to our teachers. Thank you again.
