"You have to go backwards before you go forwards."
Sometimes true in life as well. Gettin' deep.
One of the most insightful and thought-provoking of the dozens of judo videos I've watched. Thanks!
Thanks for that. One sometimes forget the fundementals over time. 'Minimal effort maximum efficientcy'
Finally, a great video on breaking balance with examples! Clear and straight forward, good job.
Great video. I watch quite a few judo videos as I can only train 2 hours per week, but this is easily one of the best I've seen
Awesome tip for beginners. I've struggled with throws in BJJ practice and this is so simple yet something I never really thought about, and I'm sure many others overlook.
This video made me subscribe. Clear, logical and food for much thought. Well done. I look forward to more of your teachings.
Superb advice. No matter what level.
You simplified it for me on the push pull effect. Thanks
Glad to help . Thanks. Don't forget to subscribe as i am posting new Judo videos every Monday
Absolutely wonderful video- i am a rank beginner and all I EVER do is try to force my throws which- surprise- NEVER works.
Your video is fantastic and I will totally try to implement your advice.
PLEASE do more of these- you have a great teaching style my man!
Fantastic video! Thank you for that.
Beautifully explained to this white belt!
Thank you for the vids you up load they're very clear and usefull!
You explain this so well, my sensei is always talking about a reaction thanks for the informative explanation it was great! :)
+士-BornToFight-士 no worries mate
That was great sir !
I have just watched several introductions to judo. I am a white belt bjj player a bit more than a year in. I think this is the single key difference between judo players that I encounter and JJ players. Judo players seem to be very focused on reactions, creating them and exploiting them. JJ has that too, but seems to just have a different pace for it. At least from what I have seen so far.
I like the idea of training some judo to work on this aspect of things.
Thank you so much man!
I got a competition in a few days these are really useful!
hope I see another video soon!
Best judo explanation ever!
Thanks
excellent vid, bravo!
Nice work mate.

Thanks

No worries :)
Thank you!
very nice video, Thanks!🤩😛🤩
+Chengkang ZHANG no worries
thanks for that verry helpfull
I'll add (maybe they talk about this later) the most important thing is that this is a REACTION, if you just pull then push you're not gonna get anywhere, you need to really wait and feel for him to pull back en come in for the throw (don't push him then come in, come in and then push)
And also note that just because you pull them towards you doesn't necessarily mean they will go away from you, so be ready with a technique if they do go the way you pull. Quite often someone'll pull me, with the intention of pushing me back. And i know they exoect me to go back, so i keep going forwards (the way they pulled, the way they don't want me to go) and they're not often prepared so they off balance themselves and get thrown
jimmy alderson so... judo is like sone sort of counter-attacking martial art? Since you must wait (or feel) for a response from the adversary in order to be maximally efficient. (Sorry I'm just a white belt)
Pablo Cid: Well, if the opponent doesn't react to your initial pull or push, you just proceed to throw them, so doesn't always need to be a counter. It's just that most often people will instinctively resist an attempt to pull or push them out of balance. It is a natural reaction for people to correct their balance somehow to not fall over. These reactions can happen very fast so it can be difficult to time right, but ideally the initial pull should also be a serious attempt to throw them, if they react you should take advantage of their reaction to throw them a different way. The point is to not fight with a strong force against a strong force, but instead rapidly change the direction you are throwing them to take advantage of the force the uke produces.
Thank you.
+Cedric Josh Dantes no worries
great video, gonna click on pt2 right now... and sub of course ;)
Love it
very nice
super, thanks
This is great stuff!
+RossieHoorn thanks mate
wow great thanks
What is the difference between a false attack "To feign an intent to attack, but clearly lacking an intent to execute it (false attack).
IJF Rules" and Getting a Reaction?
Wish I was taught this like someone said the guys high level show you moves but no setups
Thank you, trying this next monday :)
thank you men
I'm going to try that next time I'm in randori. Thank you very much.
Good
+عمار ياسر thanks
My friend, you remind me my Sensei, Ikuo Shirakawa. The judo you show is really great.
there is always a defense to every art already embeded in the art...Wrestling has weaknesses too judo has many techniques
Awesome.. Judo is great..
You need to go all out i think. You shouldn't push with the intention of throwing the other way, it won't work. But i had a kid, much much smaller than me. We were doing light uchikomi and he did a kouchi, ouchi then ippon seoinage and it really off balanced me. But if he just were to half assedly put his leg on the inside of mine and call it a 'kouchi gari' then you suddenly spin and pull i'm not gonna be off balance and the throw won't work
kudos!
Your D best
I see how it's like chess now
Rodrigo Morell yeah, all about deception and not showing your true intentions!
Isjudoconsideredbearstyle?thanks!
my pushing throws are weak somehow - so I always fake push and do pull throws :D
If you're already about to compete in a competition wouldn't it make sense if you already knew this stuff?
thank you very very very much
thereis a guy that's pushing me and i always felt so it's not revenge.....maybe
Reaction, looks easy but not easy.
Takes a long time to get
@@BeyondGrappling Thanks Mat, I have been doing Judo over 20 years but still very difficult. We are enjoying Judo in Tokyo.
👍👍
+Goodpal Rawat :)
i just started judo today at the age of 20 and had a hard time figuring out how it should feel to fight and it seems that much of judo is in the pull ... but godamn its hard to get the basics down. can anyone who does judo give any tips for beginners, how to like y-know get into the "feel" of it?
loose legs and shoulders grip the flloor with your feet
flexible hips that turn fast ...this is the feel of it ...practice techniques till they become second nature and appliable like a fast car driver knows when to shift gear and take a hard turn..hope it was helpful
When will the book be available for purchase? How was Japan?
you are not going to be able to counter him by just watching this vid
I'm Romania. Judo C.S.M. Baia Mare search
There's that guy in my college too. I think he's an overly attach boyfriend. Since his Gf is always hanging out with us and he's really REALLY rude and threatens us(despite this we still hang out). so this video can really teach me how to counter him(since he's a judo dude)
How is the guy falling ? Too much talking.
judo changed its rules becuase of wrestlers No more Leg attacks ! judo guys are scared of wrestlers and they should be !
Hi ! I don't know who send this story, because leg attack in GI are less efficient than in wrestling, an exemple is the double leg ( Morote gari in judo) or the single leg, in the GI you can easily counter it because you can grab the GI of the opponent , or use a Sumi Gaeshi, Uchi Mata etc...
The reason Judo fédération banned legs attack it's because Judo looked like too much of wrestling , they want to dissociate it by keep only " beautiful throws" to attract the public.
What fake type of judo

+Soyeb Balotrawala I never thought of doing that!
